Rear bearing change
As closure here - changed today with no major dramas... Main wheel hub bolt was very tight to come off alright, so I went with the 200+90degree's on reassembly. Thankfully I was also able to maneuver the brake disk off without taking the carrier off. The caliper could be removed from the carrier with just some awkward 7mm allens (hidden under little plastic caps). It was then swung out of the way and suspended with a bungie cord, and I had plenty off access to remove disk, and hub then. Reassembled, codes cleared, and test drive stayed all clear - happy days

Rear bearing change
Part finally arrived. Went with an SKY VKBA 3644 which was compatible according to winparts, and looking on the skf website, they say the same SKF themselves provide a short repair instructions download if you put in that product code (which I cant easily attach here as it comes as a html page), but below snippet from it: So my reading of that is 200NM and a further 90degrees - so I think Im resigned to that. I normally work on motorcycles, so hopefully my breaker bar (and me myself) is up to the task

Rear bearing change
Hey all So in order to finally resolve my rear wheel speed sensor woes, Im going to embark upon a rear bearing hub change. Autodoc kindly appear to have a detailed enough PDF guide on the process, which Im going to follow: https://club.autodoc.co.uk/manuals/how-to-change-rear-wheel-bearing-on-skoda-superb-estate-3v5-replacement-guide-35914 I note its listing the centre XZN #18 torque spec as 70Nm +90degree - I was expecting a 180NM + 180degree spec as Id seen in youtube videos previously - anyone shed any light? Does that guide look correct - particularly its torque values? Ive attached PDF also, as you might need to register (free account) for that link above How to change rear wheel bearing on SKODA SUPERB Estate (3V5) – replacement guide.pdf

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Repaired torn ribbon cable in the clock spring - well torn off connector at one end at least I thought I would get away with pulling the ribbon cable and connectors out of the clock spring module and googling for a replacement. But felt like the ‘car side’ plug was soldered onto the board… so did it in situ, bit of a pain, but got there in the end Next up is to try and change rear bearing (abs sensor issue) - though not quite sure what XZN spline is needed… believe it’s an M18.. (?)

Wheel speed sensor - Incorrect component installed
Part arrived, and fitted and alot of issues immediately cleared (all bar the new airbag one, will work seperately on it) So electrically, I think the car is happy with the sensor now - ie is passing the initial self test Problems return however when taking the car for a drive. Very frustrating.. suspect now, that when the problem originally reared its head, it may not have been the sensor, but the abs ring - just a bit of a mess with having someone do half the job, and me doing the rest (lessons learned) But for the sake of this thread, with the original error message as per title, I think this one is resolved

Wheel speed sensor - Incorrect component installed
Still waiting for this part to arrive (due tomorrow..), so no update there In the meantime, airbag light must have been feeling left out and has decided to join the Christmas tree lights 😩 Horn and other buttons on the steering wheel not working, so suspect clock spring needs replacing.. anything else to check there though? ‘Driver airbag igniter, resistance too high’ B10001B Replacing clock spring might be beyond my comfort zone..

Wheel speed sensor - Incorrect component installed
Thanks Dan, yes so you’ve a rev ‘a’ one, and I’ve a rev ‘b’, which I think makes sense given the years What’s caught me out here I think, is that when I looked for a main brand (Bosch in this instance) for the no name my mech fitted I was given two options - one with no mentioned ‘vehicle options’ and another mentioning cruise control and park assist. I’ve since mapped those two Bosch options to the oem part numbers and turns out the wrong one I went for last time (that mentioned no ‘vehicle options’) is WHT 003 864 (with no rev number) The one I think I should have gone for is the other one, that did mention cruise control & park assist. Notably I don’t have park assist, but do have cruise control (regular, not adaptive), so I could be wrong here, but suspect this is the case

Wheel speed sensor - Incorrect component installed
Hi folks Having a bit of an ordeal trying to source and fit a replacement rear wheel speed sensor on our 2018 combi superb (3V5) Its been replaced twice now, and still showing 6+ faults on the onboard computer - tyre pressure, adaptive front lights, ESC, hill hold assist etc Local mechanic changed it initially, with a no name sensor, and the faults became intermittent (coming and going every couple of minutes in a single journey). He made no promises (he's more crash repairs then anything), so I tried again myself with a bosch one ( part# 0 986 594 526). Faults became persistent at this point, with them all triggering as soon as ignition turned on - so slight improvement. OBDeleven is showing a heap of messages, but I think all are stemming from the single - 'C101D4A - Right rear ABS wheel speed sensor - Incorrect component installed' code And thats where I am now - Im still convinced its just a new sensor needed.. I had it up on axle stands and pulled the working rear left one, and its an 'ATE 10.0711-6438.3' and had the code 'WHT 003 864 B' on it also. I tried autodoc.ie and the WHT code does come back with results - it appears the Bosch one I havent been successful with is a WHT 003 864 (no 'B'). But my search previously, it looked like the 'B' was specifically for vehicles with park assist, which I dont have... have regular cruise control, but not adaptive cc - maybe Im wrong there What do people think? If the WHT code matches whats there in the working left one, the below link should be ok? Going to go for another ATE, just to keep the two on the back axle consistent.. https://www.auto-doc.ie/ate/7618461 Just before I go ahead and wind up buying another wrong sensor(!)
