  1. Hi, all. I've just done a quick OBD2 scan on my 2017 Superb estate and it's come up with this. Everything seems fine. The battery has been going flat, but the car's hardly been used for the last few months, so I assumed it was that. Any thoughts on where to look? It had a door replaced under warranty 18 months ago and previous scans haven't shown any issues.
  2. A couple of times I’ve had an SOS Emergency Call Activated message appear for a moment then disappear. No call has been made. Anyone else had this? I’ve previously had the SOS Emergency Call Restricted message which cleared itself.
  3. Well, I’ve taken the plunge and as of 30th October, I own my Superb. Add the overall cost of the lease over 2 years and the final purchase price and I got the car for £4k off list price. I’m happy with that - I’ve had the car from new, so I know its full history, it’s immaculate and has only 18600 miles on the clock.
  4. The lease is a contract, so technically there is no debt. The deal I got (£2490 plus 23 x £190, all inc VAT) was far better than any PCP.
  5. Leasing was very good financially. I got a quote from Simpson Skoda which my local dealer matched. It was a 24 month, 20,000 mile deal, so minimal servicing. I like to keep my cars clean and in good shape, so had no problems when I handed back the first one. I’m perfectly happy with the one I have now, I’m not bothered about driving a new car every two years, the deals are not as good as they were and I’m in the position to buy it outright this time around, so that’s my plan. If I don’t go for my Superb, I’ll be on the lookout for a used 5 Series Touring.
  6. I spoke to VWFS and they were quite helpful. They advised contacting them closer to the time for a more accurate price but gave me a quote for reference. It’s just under what I’d expect to pay at a dealer, so not as good as I’d hoped. I suppose I need to factor in the convenience and the knowledge of the car’s history from new, but I don’t want to pay over the odds.
  7. I’m on my second Superb lease which is due to end in November. Last time, I was given a fairly attractive quote to purchase the car but I’d already signed up to the second lease. I’d like to buy this one and wondered if anyone had any experience of negotiating the price with VWFS. My last car eventually sold at auction a couple of months after I handed it back, so I’d have hoped they would consider a reasonable offer for a guaranteed cash sale.
  8. The transportation blocks were left in my first superb - caused knocking noises and severely restricted suspension travel.
  9. Here's a picture of my Superb. More precisely, here's a picture of the transportation blocks which were not removed at the PDI. They took 5 mins per side to remove, but I find it incredible that this kind of thing is still happening. I was happy with my Superb, but it occasionally banged across sharp bumps and had recently developed a clunk at the front. I jacked it up to look and found two blocks on each side.
  10. Thanks, just curious. We used to have a pair of Pug 307 company cars and whilst I hated them, I liked the idea of plastic wings. I wonder why they're not more popular.
  11. Daft question - are the front wings plastic? They make a dull thud when you tap them with your knuckle whereas the door and bonnet sound more metallic.
  12. Yup - I was worried that the 17s would look too small but they're fine.
  13. Finally got my Moon White SE Business estate yesterday. So far, I'm very happy with it. It feels nice and tight and agile. Still getting used to the electronic handbrake and auto-hold.
