  1. Thanks for replies. Seller is Cazoo, I asked the bloke I spoke to if I could speak to someone where its held but he had no idea where that was, so no chance of a pic unfortunately. Sounds like I'll have to limit my search to SEL to guarantee cruise control.
  2. Hi, time to upgrade from my 2005 fabia elegance! Cruise control and semi automatic (DSG?) are both important to me, and I've seen a 68 SE DSG for sale that I could have delivered. It wasn't easy to research but I thought Mk3 faclifted cars (ie 68 onwards) had cruise control as standard, but when the guy on the phone checked the specs, which I suspect were just generic, he said no cruise control. Am I wrong to think it should have it? Many, many thanks for any quick replies
  3. Thanks for replies. If I understand correctly:- 1) I can't do anything easily myself. 2) I could get a (Skoda?) garage to do something with the 'ECU' (at a guess, would that be electronic computer unit?). 3) I could have the potentiometer replaced by (?any) garage (from a hazy memory of physics some 35 years ago, does that vary the electricity?) Thanks again
  4. I'm on my 2nd fabia now, having recently bought a 55 Elegance. Quite pleased with it except for the lack of response when the accelerator is initially touched (oh, and naff mw reception). Re the throttle, when the 'bite' is eventually reached, there's a slight surge. Don't wish to exagerate, but it can make for jerky starting and diificulty reversing/hill starts. I believe that there is no cable involved, so is it possible for me to adjust this myself, do I have to go to a garage or, hopefully not, just live with it? Thanks.
  5. It's an old thread, I know, but the link to the manual is dead, does anyone have a new link? Thanks Found the link:- http://www.carcommunications.technisat.de/?modul=produkte&seite=1#7
  6. Funfly, make it £14-99 + postage and you're on (I love a bargain, even if its just 1p I'll try and find out how to pm you... And Mlutton, thanks for your offer of free help, this forum seems great for that. If I can find the pm button I'll pm you, too, as the prog may come in useful one day. And I'll try the hacksaw blade b4 I buy the special keys. Re taking it aradio out, is it just a case of disconnecting the negative from the battery then a bit of simple wire work round the back of the radio?
  7. Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I believe the fabia radio is a Grundig. I have a code for my current broken radio, & I was assuming that its code (same for one generated by software?) would not work? I looked on ebay, couldn't find the software, but I found some special VW/Skoda keys to pull the radio out. Assuming I need them & I can get them, it'll be my 1st purchase on ebay so that'll be a result!
  8. My fabia radio has died a death. Someone has offered to sell me one and says it doesn't need a code. As my original one did, & the new one looks identical (MS402), just wanted to try & check if anyone else has one that doesn't require a code. Thanks?
  9. Thanks, that is an option - in some cars that just pushes me too far forward (I have long legs), but the seat in the fabia can go quite far back, if needsbe.
  10. I've come to the conclusion that I can only get really comfortable in a driving seat that has variable lumbar support ie where I can minimise the 'small of the back' support for me, in a non variable seat, always seems to hit me too far down. My wife's fairly basis punto has it for example. My W reg fabia, doesn't. Does anyone know if this is an option thats available, or if all more recent fabias have it. Thanks
  11. Hi, I've had a Skoda fabia (W) for about 6 months now. Initially the radio was ok for a few weeks, but then it started to periodically do a channel search / change bass etc with no prompting from me. Leaving it off (had to be for a while) seemed to correct it temporarily. After a new battery a month ago, and entering the code all was well for about a day, but now it says 'safe' every time it's turned on and if/when it gets to the enter code stage, it always displays 3 .. .. .. .. Entering eg 1 for the 1st character makes eg the 3rd & 4th characters randomly change ie it has a mind of its own again, so I can never get the correct code entered. It got a bit boring doing a 7 hour round trip last week-end in the quiet. Any ideas? If not, & having got a quote of
