  1. 1. The top and bottom hoses 2. The sensor connected to the front of the rad can leak 3. Damaged Radiator These are the most common and when I had the same problem it turned out to be all three. LOL hope you have more luck with yours.
  2. 1. Steering Angle Sensor (most common) 2. Alternator (you've already done that one) 3. Steering Pump (Expensive, even recon units) 4. Wiring Loom (can suffer water ingress, could be a possible in your case) 5. Earth Wire (again related to the alternator, but worth looking at) 6. Battery (Am always sceptical about this one, tend to think it's more of an alternator issue then) 7. Steering Rack (can suffer leaks, very expensive to replace) The Associated problems with the steering was the primary reason I sold my Fabia. You really can spend thousands getting it sorted. When I got Mine VAG COM'ed all it reported was the steering angle sensor had an intermittent fault, so I replaced it, needless to say the fault remained, however, the fault code had gone. Good luck with sorting it, if I were you, I'd give a garage one shot at sorting it. Try to get them to guarantee fixing the problem, rather than them stating that x-part is faulty and simply replacing it, you will, or could end up going through the entire list I mentioned above. If they fail to fix it, or won't guarantee the job, then get shot of the car ...
  3. My local dealer won't look at your car for less than £60
  4. One of the reasons I got rid of my furby... You've covered the majority of the common fixes. 1. Damp in the wiring loom is a possible, apparently the loom sits low to the ground and in an area that can puddle with water, they say to try and raise the loom and allow it to dry for a while before attempting to add additional insulation. 2. The Alternator again could be an issue, or maybe your battery. I toyed with the idea of fitting a stronger battery, but they were very expensive. The earth on the Alternator I'm told can be an issue if it's not earthed properly. Good luck mate...
  5. Time to get insured with a company that will pay out for vandalism damage. Theres more and more of them appearing nowdays, so shouldn't be to hard to find a decent one.
  6. Bugger me.... Start again mate. Any colour would be better. soz'
  7. That happened to me. Vag com confirmed intermittent fault with Sensor. Bunged in a new one. No difference whatsoever, except that vag com no longer reported the fault. Oah' and no other fault logged.
  8. It's one of the fabias main weak points. 1. Steering Angle Sensor 2. Steering Pump 3. Steering Rack 4. Alternator 5. Battery Could be any or all of the above, good luck in pinning it down, and be prepared to either live with it or part win many hundreds of pounds.
  9. If the green were darker ... I'd probably still not like it, but it would look better. Oah well each to their own.
  10. Well for now at least you may be right, cos' try as I may I just can't drag myself away. he he he...
  11. Today I did something I thought I never would... I bought a Vauxhall Corsa. That's right I part exchanged my aging Fabia, did ok too, they never noticed the faulty power steering or broken drivers seat or for that matter the passenger side window that needs a new regulator.... On top of that the clutch was just starting to wear as it would squeek when changing from 1st to 2nd while going up hill with heavy right foot. It's small, economical and only 2 years old with less than 10k on the clock. It'll do for a couple of years. So I'm waving goodbye guys, don't really see the point in hanging around if I don't have a skoda. I've learned a lot while here and got to know some of you better than expected. I'll always think fondly of my time with my Fabia (big boots to fill). But for now at least its on to pasteurs new. Cheers peeps.....
  12. Replacing the sensor is supposed to cure said problems, but it didn't for me.
  13. X Reg' (2000) with 46k+ Bought 2 years ago with 18,500 only.
  14. Get onto the council and complain about that manhole cover.
  15. Good for you dude... Hows the fuel consumption affected?
  16. Funny that, when I removed my standard cassette radio and fitted an after market one, the radio signal dropped A LOT... Fitting an after market signal booster (to the rear of the head unit @£12) fixed the problem.
  17. What was the name of the garage you got that from mate?
  18. Why you selling your punto? Only 2 year old n' all.
  19. Puts out more black smoke than a double decker bus. ROFLMAO
