  1. Remembered from my GTi days about launch control and hadn't thought about it on the Scout. Tried it on my way home tonight, it's very impressive! You really do get pushed back on your seat and it grips and grips as it powers away. Just need an opportunity to properly use it anger now!
  2. Love my Scout, come into it's own with the snow yesterday, even on summer tyres. Mine is basic spec apart from spare wheel. Will never buy another car without one after hitting a pothole in Boxing Day with only the 'gunge' and a compressor to get me home. Nice to have's would have been Xenons (standard lights are not great) and winter pack (I live in Scotland!). DSG is still great but not as great with the diesel engine as in my old MK6 GTi.
  3. Does anyone actually use Lane Assist?
  4. A friend of mine got a fully loaded C Class hybrid as a replacement for an A4 Avant. He hates it. Mainly due to it being rear wheel drive, he just doesn't feel as confident driving it on country roads. If you're used to RWD then not an issue but if not suggest a good test drive first.
  5. So what would you buy if you were in the market for a new car? I am not hearing BMW, Vauxhall, Mercedes, Ford, Peugeot et al screaming from the rooftops that they are whiter than white, urging wavering VAG buyers to buy from them. Why wouldn't they, a perfect marketing opportunity, surely? Rather than worrying about VAG or not I would consider buying petrol over diesel if I were in the market right now - this could be the start of the diesel death nail. Anyway.....this is all for another thread I'm sure!!
  6. Wouldn't be far away, I think I may have got a bit lucky as I was getting quotes just as the 0% deal became available on the Scout. Went to and fro with various re-quotes for different specs but was being offered about 6% for finance deals I seem to remember. I know discounts were difficult to come buy due to dealers having to fund the 0% deal themselves. Drew is the Carwow contact at Ingrams.
  7. I have just bought a DSG Scout through Carwow. Got a decent discount, the £1000 deposit contribution and a nice 0% PCP finance deal. My local dealer couldn't get close, even with their showroom vehicle you would have thought they might want shot of. Instead I ordered through a dealer about 90mins from home and experienced the most straightforward buying process ever. The dealer had been very attentive through my many Carwow quotations and queries and certainly worked hard for my business so was very happy to give them the order. Thoroughly recommend Carwow, Ingram Skoda in Ayr and the DSG Scout. Good luck with your purchase.
  8. Funny, I was just thinking the same last night, my new Scout doesn't have it and I think it would be a nice to have.
  9. The other thing to check is in the advanced Bluetooth settings I have activated the 'use an alternative Bluetooth audio connection for speech'. My phone is a Nokia Lumia, not sure if yours will have the same function? Worth a look...
  10. My wife's Sony shows her the texts on the screen, the old ones anyway, not tested what happens when new texts arrived with it paired yet.
  11. Your windows phone needs to be in driving mode for Cortana to read texts. Mine works fine on Amunsden after initially not working.
  12. Nowhere to rest right foot when using cruise. My mkII had a little ledge.
  13. I know but would prefer it on the dash display where it is more visible. It's the little things.....
  14. No dash light to show when headlights are on irritates me, especially when it's been foggy in the day and I'm uncertain if my lights are actually on with auto.
  15. Well I got naff all (not even oil) apart from a nice shiny new car and a good deal through Carwow.
  16. Should have thought about the scroll wheel, that makes sense. Thanks very much.
  17. Anyone have any tips as to how to avoid making unwanted calls when scrolling through phone contacts on the Amundsen? The first contact with my finger on the screen starts a call as it's obviously so sensitive. The arrows on the right are all very well but with lots of contacts many are missing before it moves on to the next letter. Understand I can search by typing in but its not a quick process.
  18. Select new destination, country should default to United Kingdom after you first enter it, then tap city field and in the bottom left is a pscd button......select and enter postcode and away you go
  19. So I collected my Scout today. First impressions are very good from a performance, comfort and 'kit' perspective. DSG is as good as I remember from my GTI,a bit hesitant as you first pull away maybe but that certainly isn't the case in sport mode. The stop start function is new for me and despite what I had read about issues with it and the DSG, I thought it was excellent with no embarrassing delays. Still haven't thrashed it yet nor tried launch control (that was amazing in the Gti!) but plenty of time for all that. I am pleasantly surprised how firm the set up is, not the slightest bit wallowy and I would go as far as to say it feels as firm as my standard Octavia that had sports suspension. Going over a couple of humps on an a local B road it was airborne and crashed down a bit which was somewhat unexpected. Not sure if it was because of the increased ride height or if the suspension will soften over time? No issues with Amunsden postcode issue as reported in other threads, it can be entered immediately, perhaps this is a MY16 improvement? Minor gripe is that there isn't anywhere to rest your right foot when using cruise unlike in my old car. Another thing that would be nice is the function where the nearside mirror dips down when you engage reverse so you can see the kerb which I had on the Golf. Ingrams in Ayr were excellent from start to finish having bought through Carwow.
  20. It begs the question where you would put your business if you cancelled? Don't hear BMW or Mercedes shouting from the rooftops that they are whiter than white. GM, the French, Italians.....also quiet. Why on earth wouldn't they do that to take advantage of VAG's monumental **** up for their gain. Spoke to my dealer today who said he was expecting opportunist buyers to threaten cancellation for further discount. I suspect they will be disappointed though.
  21. I am in the same boat, collecting my MY16 Scout 184 tomorrow. What will be will be and I didn't buy the car for its emissions/tax levels so as along as performance isn't adversely affected by any (unlikely) recall then so be it.
  22. Whilst it will be minor irritation only, I was surprised my phone didn't fit when I sat in a Scout. I don't think I have a particularly large phone either. Presumably all iPhones fit fine!!??
