  1. A cold & frosty morning all. Have had an issue with my internal driver side door handle. Got in car happily enough from outside to warm up and defrost windows, but when I went to get back out no response from internal handle pull. Window opened and external handle pulled again from outside to escape. AA recovery stripped door apart and confirmed cable retainer broken at handle. Temporarily reset cable to resume function but left with instruction to ‘be gentle’ and visit dealer to resolve under warranty at first opportunity as only 17mths old. Waiting game now for first available appointment, but not an issue my local dealer recall seeing before on a Karoq. So, a rare fail perhaps, but one I thought worth recording on here in case others experience same. cheers, Buzz
  2. Another vote for ‘why bother?’ from me. Aside from adding drag to the car and taking up space you may actually benefit more from by carrying a standard roof box full of supplies, bike racks and/or other outdoor adventure gear, I really don’t see the point/benefit of these roof mounted tents - especially for use by kids. They’d be more than happy with a 4-person quick up tent currently on offer for £45 at Halfords I’m sure, and there’s less risk of a fall from height during a sleepy head nighttime toilet run... If you’re feeling flush on savings made by going for a standard tent option they’d probably thank you more for buying some decent self inflating mats (Exped Megamat 10 thoroughly recommended!) and perhaps a portable projector for some outdoor movie night fun ;-)
  3. Sadly looks like I’m in the same boat as others here with Sportline alloy wheel issues. Not impressed they look like this after less than 7mths of ownership. Anyone had any joy with repair or replacement under warranty?
  4. No recline or slide. I’ve got a 4x4 version with a space saver spare wheel also, which means useable height is reduced. Result is not what you’d call small but certainly less useful for larger loads than vario-flex equipped models.
  5. Is silly not being clearly marked up, but just press the right hand thumb wheel to accept calls - at least it is on my Sportline. Another minor bug bear is how the display in the centre of dials switches over to navigation directions when you start a route (as you’d expect) but doesn’t revert back to previous setting when navigation use has finished and then you have to cycle back through the various displays to get back to the one you started on.
  6. Can’t answer your specific query, but thought I’d highlight some attractive lease deals I’ve seen available on KODIAQ 1.5tsi SE-L recently, with auto available for just a couple of quid a month more than manual. Example I’d seen for manual over 3-years was £1528.78 + 35x£254.80 based on 10k miles per annum. An admin fee of £180 would also be payable at time of order through broker. Could work well for you as delivery is indicated for March on a 20-plate.
  7. If you don’t mind pre-reg MY19 stock might be worth you checking out some of the broker websites. Should be able to find 2 year deal on 8k per annum for around £1600 + 23x£265 range (plus broker fee of £198, of course!). Depends on how choosy you are with colours as probably not much stock left now.
  8. Doh! So busy reading all the other interesting threads in the forum I forgot all about updating my own profile. Now sorted! ... and of course it’s been raining in Wales. Gotta keep the hills green and the sheep happy!! 🐑
  9. Try a search for Meteor Grey. We don’t have a Steel Grey in the UK. The other Grey’s offered here are Business Grey or Quartz Grey. I’ve just taken delivery of a Quartz 🙂
  10. Exciting times indeed! After waiting so long I think you’d be crazy not to wait for the new ‘69 plate. When it comes time to trade in / sell in the future the different plate will absolutely result in difference of a few hundred pounds in value. In your position I’d even hold off assigning the personalised plates for a while and enjoy driving around in a ‘69’er - personalised plates to be assigned just ahead of the ‘20 plate introduction next March. But each to their own... I’m soon to join the ’Roq club myself but having gone down the leasing route my situation really makes no difference to me at all, particularly as the car was a pre-reg deal. Show me the car!! Whatever you decide to do, enjoy!
  11. Just a quick follow-up to comments made by Bugginbob in another thread, I've recently contacted Skoda Finance regarding early termination of my 24 month PCH deal and been given the same advice of a charge amounting to 55% of outstanding payments to hand back car early. It seems this principle is applied to anyone in last 12 months of lease agreement. The value for this element of contract can be given over the phone by the fleet finance team. With other members perhaps toying with idea of what to do next with their own lease arrangements I thought it worth starting a specific thread to capture personal experiences. Hope it helps.
  12. There are now; http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volkswagen/passat/100121/petrol-power-added-to-volkswagen-passat-range
  13. Hi, I'm merrily driving through my 2 year PCH deal but find myself being somewhat hounded by Skoda Finance UK about changing my car - which isn't due for replacement 'til mid December. Looking at latest lead-time thread it doesn't appear I have any need to plan 8 months ahead, yet am repeatedly advised to get in touch with my local dealer about what to do next. Is anyone else finding contact by phone (and post!) from Skoda Finance a little over zealous and unnecessary or am I receiving 'special' treatment? Although I haven't bothered contacting a dealer to test response I'm pretty sure I'd only be told it's too early to be planning a replacement and that I should come back in another 3-5 months time. Just wondered if others were experiencing the same. Buzz
  14. Anyone else having issues with volume control on their cars? Perhaps more specifically the Amundsen unit in conjunction with multi-function steering wheel - a la SE Business trim? Twice this week I've gone to increase volume of radio via s/wheel dial, but the sound has remained constant. Rotated wheel in other direction and sound reduced ok but then could not be increased again either via s/wheel or the main radio unit knob. Switching unit on and off did nothing to reset function, but switching from radio to media source briefly seemed to restore things back to normal. Very perplexing, but one of those things that is likely to continue to plague through remainder of two years of ownership as the problem is intermittent and highly likely not to show itself if I take car to a dealership.
  15. So the Super Luxury car mats from officialcarmats arrived, and the verdict is... No complaints from me. Fit fine and front mats secure to plastic floor studs. Seem perfectly good product for under £40 (inc. del) in plain black on black colouration. Not sure how the recycled rubber backing compares to an official product, but as you can't see / feel it once the mats are in place it matters not. Only time will tell how well they wear, but as they are made from 1300g/m2 carpet they feel nice and soft underfoot and blend well with existing floor. A satisfied customer.
  16. Anyone else finding the stop/start system in the new Superb reluctant to actually do much stop-starting? I've had the system on previous 3 VW group cars but the others all seemed to operate much as expected, even soon after starting car, unless DPF regen was in progress. However, my Superb (2.0tdi 150) seems much more reluctant to activate and as a consequence seldom kicks in during my daily commutes. The primary excuse on in car display seems to suggest it's non-operational because of a risk of windows fogging, which I somehow doubt is likely to occur during brief stoppages given sheer internal volume of the estate! But today it surprised me with a new excuse... I can only presume another regen was underway, but for the car to suggest "engine must be switched on", whilst idling at 1000rpm and up to temp is a puzzling?!
  17. I've decided to take a punt on the supplier Billyjim mentioned (officialcarmats). Ordered a set of plain Super Luxury and await delivery. Interested to see what £39.95 gets.
  18. So, very early in my ownership experience but thought I'd post a reply to say overall I'm very pleased with decision to upgrade to Canton. Seems to me to fill the car (in my case Estate) with a very satisfying, full, sound. A noticeable improvement over the standard system to my ears. Assuming as with most things hifi there's potential for further improvement over time as the speakers and amp settle in, this could be a very worthwhile upgrade for people who like their music. The only downside is the rattle/buzzing coming from somewhere inside the front passenger door that appears to be triggered at a certain frequency. Would be interesting to hear if any other canton owners have experienced the same? Probably not a popular soundtrack of choice with many in this forum (or any forum?!), but it's the 'Fast & Furious 5 - Rio Heist' album that really excites the door; particularly the track 'Assembling the team'.
  19. After 16 weeks the eagle has finally landed! Not had much time to admire the exterior yet courtesy of the miserable weather, but the inside seems a very nice place indeed to spend time, with comedic amounts of legroom for rear seat passengers courtesy of my little legs... maybe I could host Christmas dinner in there!? 2.0Tdi 150 SE Business Estate, Business Grey with Black Alcantara + Canton + spare wheel. No freebies, and still no love for the Helios wheels, but at least it arrived with the silver roof rails.
  20. With my 2.0tdi Business SE Estate now apparently in transit to the dealership it looks like I'm finally going to be able to get my mits on my new car this weekend. Been a long wait since I ordered at end August - just over 16 weeks.
  21. I'll never be a fan of the Helios wheels, whereas this wheel colour combo looks fab. Shame it's not mine. Wanna trade?!
  22. Shame you ordered Helios from the factory. I'd have gladly swapped for mine!
  23. Crap indeed! I ain't a mariner, but looks like it'll take a bit more than some expanding foam and duct tape to patch up that damage: http://m.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/main-topics/general-news/shocking-damage-after-ships-collide-on-the-humber-1-7610762 No indication on whether or not the boat was loaded or empty at time of collision, but if it was fully loaded I'd expect there to have been some collateral damage to it's cargo... what will this mean for lead times??
  24. Update today to say may car currently sat at port of exit. Dealer suggested still should be ok for mid December delivery as there are 5 shipments of cars due into uk this week... Not sure how many each boat holds, but let's hope the owners register gets plenty more hits soon after!
  25. Darn it! One of my neighbours has beaten me to the Superb punch and recently taken delivery of an L&K estate in cappuccino beige with beige leather interior. Not personally a combination I think I'd endorse - believing contrast with brown would look much better, but maybe I'm just bitter he's the first in the area with the new superb instead of me. Humph!! Seeing it does however make me wish I'd found a little extra money to upgrade the alloys to 18" Pegasus. They do look nice. Maybe next time.
