Thanks Silver, you are, of course, 100% corrrect. Reason I wasn't negotiating was that I was expecting the fixed priced 2 year service and my understanding of what should be carried out at a 2 year service was based on the work listed under 'major service' on the skoda site http://www.skoda.co....ce/simply-fixed).
What I now understand is that this page is only detailing what gets done on a fixed price 2 year major service and, as the small print confirms, this fixed price servicing is only applicable for cars older than 3 years i.e it's only there to retain your custom once the car is out of warranty, nothing to do with explaining the actual servicing schedule to the customer.
The manual does only list Inspection and oil change after 2 years and brake fluid change after 3, so I suppose every other possible service item is done when required rather than on a fixed schedule and I'm a numpty for not reading the small print :p . I've been round most of the main brands in the VW group in my time and I guess fixed price servicing is just something I've come to expect from main dealers. After all, it's about retaining business rather than squeezing out a few quid from your customers here and there, right? :|
Still, lesson learned, a fool and his money etc etc...
