  1. Has anyone used Vrs Northampton before?
  2. The car needs oil, filters and spark plugs. All brake discs, pads, fluid were replaced last year when it had a minor service. Going with the schedule it is now due a major service. Everything on the car is still original even the exhaust. Apart from consumables I've been lucky. I will avoid Halfords being as tho it's a specialist car. Lol.
  3. Thanks guys you have been most helpful👍
  4. Has anyone ever took there Vrs to Halfords for major service and are they any good? I took it Skoda last 4 times but now it's at 10yrs old they don't really want to know. Only what money they can screw.
  5. Yes exactly as described and no it doesn't hinder the performance It's just annoying. So no maintenance required at this stage?
  6. Hi my 2010 Ferb Vrs TSI has developed a squeak at 82k miles under load when accelerating. It's sounds like a pet mouse under the bonnet. It is fairly intermittent whilst driving although it likes to give off a little squeak nown again before it takes off. It's quite annoying as it is quite pronounced especially with the radio off. I read somewhere that it could be down to a belt on the supercharger. Can anyone clarify? Many thanks 5yrs and counting
  7. It will be interesting to see how many of these are still around in 10 years time and how high the miles go.
  8. If I was buying. That one would be somewhere near the bottom of the pile as I can't stand that colour seat and much prefer the chrome grill and silver lights over the black ones but that's my own personal preference. Why I say hard to come by lol.
  9. Nice one same spec as mine. If you are planning to have a look at the car at some point be sure to check the tailgate where the number plate lights sit. Mine had corroded and didn't notice until after. Skoda replaced the tailgate last August under the corrosion warranty. Customer services very good in this respect but it was a hassle i could of done without. And the VW paint shop didn't exactly do the best of jobs. Shabby in places and needing a respray.
  10. That's what i paid for mine in sept 2015 at 53000. Sadly now book price stands it at 4.7k private 3.5k trade. Just to give you an idea on the depreciation side of things.
  11. No I put standard in it once just to try it. Car didn't like it. Next day limp mode engine warning light. Other than that only ever used V-Power nitro. Car loves it.
  12. Lol that's good mate compared to my old MINI Cooper S which drank a litre every 200 miles or so pmsl.
  13. Both long and short distances. Thrown everything at it where possible. Car always thanks me. I do tend to drive it more respectfully now though since the spark plug incident last year but that was my fault giving it too much thrash at the wrong time. Cold engine, old plugs, crap fuel.
  14. About 120 quid a year costs me in oil between services. I can live with that for such a reliable warm hatch.
  15. I get 1200 miles roughly in a litre of castrol 5w 30. Car loves it.
  16. Avoid 2012 / 2013 models has these seem to be the ones that have had most of the engine replacement from what I've read on here. For peace of mind I bought a 2010 VRS blind from a used car sales forecourt. I've had it 19 months done nearly 30000 miles in it taking it up to 75000 it uses some oil about half a litre every 500 miles or so. I've had to replace the spark plugs once so just look out for that but other than top up, service and drive. Enjoy. P.s no warranty.
  17. Thanks again for all your info. I've had cylinder one coil changed x4 ngk plugs in and an ecu update. Car is running the best ever since taken ownership and i can't stop smiling.
  18. No they haven't. They don't to want to acknowledge the spark plugs when I mention them.
  19. Had diagnostic scan done this morning. And misfire found on cylinder 1. So Had cylinder 1 coil replaced as the seal inside had perished and broken. Thought this might have cured it. How wrong. Apparently the misfire has now moved to cylinder 3 and 4. And they talking about swopping this coil for that coil. Software updates and possibly the timing chain could be slipping and because it's vvt it's specialists job. Am I being mugged off or has anyone else had this problem. Thanks.
  20. Cheers mate first thing Tuesday. Is it worth getting it a proper scan? I tryed with a vag obd 2 reader but wouldn't connect with engine only ABS and SMS.
  21. No it's the emissions light that's flashes. Although when it went into limp mode the epc and emissions was a solid light. I did a stupid thing in that i gave it beans before engine had reached temp then realised after. Very naive I know but easy done on a sunny morning. Next day no limp mode but flashing CEL. Then today steady 15 mile drive to mates and it's all good again. Plugs last changed 10500 mile ago according to history then 21000 before that. I will check plugs are they easy to locate. Until then no kickdown for me just incase.
  22. A bit off topic but does anyone know what a flashing cel light means? When accelerating hard car splutters a couple of times then the yellow cel light flashes for a few seconds then it's OK again until I try and floor it again. This problem occurred couple of days ago. I have always used shell v power but on two occasions I used normal unleaded. No problems. Then I thought I'd try Tesco momentum which was OK. Anyway once that run out and I am back on v power and the trouble starts. Gave it the beans then all of a sudden I'm in limp mode. All tho not in limp mode now car still runs pants. Any help appreciated.
