  1. As mentioned elsewhere on the forum, I sold 4 x scabby standard alloys minus tyres. Result:- 8.87kg per wheel @ £1.15/ kilo 35.5kg= £40.82
  2. The current value is £1.15/kilo, so I got £40.82. This doesn't sound alot but I only wanted £40 as they needed a good refurb. If salvagable at all.
  3. Sold 4 OE Fabia VRS alloys to the scrappie cos they were all well trashed! For the records they weigh 8.87 kg each, without tyres. Or 35.5kg for 4.
  4. Just weighed some old ones in at the scrappie. 35.5 kg for 4 without tyres!
  5. It's been a while since I went over to Keswick to meet some of you guys/gals - must be nearly 3 years when I think about it.I had a red Leon TDI 130 SE kicking out approx. 172bhp with remap. I've finally got a mk1 Fabia VRS with identical alloys to the Leon, as the OE alloys are looking a bit rough. I haven't read through all the posts on here, however I would like to join in, on Sunday for the run out. Where are you starting from and what time? P.S if anyone is interested in the OE alloys(no tyres) I will bring them along as they are cluttering my shed.£50 for the lot.
  6. Sure it's been covered before on here but can't find it. Im trying to get the OE radio/CD player to work in my Fabia vRS mk1. I blew the fuse while removing a hands-free kit left in by the previous owner - fuse replaced, then went through the procedure for 'comfort-coding' to no avail. I took the car to my local dealer, paid £33.60 and came away with the code (or a code of some sort) but no radio working. I was told I would have to leave the HU switched on for an hour before putting the code in. I have tried this a couple of times but no radio. I believe I am doing it correctly according to the manual but not sure. Can someone help me before I take to it with a hammer?
  7. Maybe 'unsafe' was a bit strong. I've been driving quite a few years and know when a car is handling well. I want to be able to throw the car into a corner and not have to start braking midway with my sphincter twitching - know what I mean.
  8. It's all good, positive advice. Initially I was going to go straight for remap but once I started to drive a bit more aggressively I realised the car isn't capable of being safe with 130bhp - let alone anymore!
  9. Thanks for the help, chaps. Saving - day 1....
  10. Thanks for that CT17. I much are you looking at for ARBs? What suspension would be typical without going silly with money?
  11. A slight topic change after the mention of Porsche 911 - I heard after '911' disaster that Porsche were asked to drop the 911 name as a matter of respect...
  12. Having acquired a 2005 VRS I was wondering what would be the next step to improving the handling for me to regain confidence to allow the Fab to be thrown into corners. I have replaced the wheels with SEAT alloys (cosmetic) - these are still 16". I don't want to spend loads. I don't want to go drastically low. And at 43 I don't want a ride that will shake my teeth out or damage vertabrae. Any advice (for the car) will be grately received.
  13. I like the Hardie Pass. I'm happy if I can get a clear run and treat it like the Goodwood hillclimb! Bloody annoying though when you catch up with Mr/Mrs Careful, and they won't pull into a passing place - so bloody annoying!
  14. I've since replaced the whole unit with a 2nd-hand one from a E-bay breaker. It's grey, howver suits the interior. (seats).
