  1. Thank you Moggy shall try this at the w/e...thanks again
  2. Hello folks. The day before the below, I filled my car up the brim with Diesel. Sometime ago I was driving my Skoda Fabia vRS and the fuel gauge went ping. I looked at the dash and seen my fuel gauge was dropping down fast, it was just like I was having a leak. I nursed it home-thinking that I had a bare minimum of fuel. Got home and had a look underneath-and could not see any leaks at all. Nursed it to the nearest garage to fill it up again managed to get about £2.00 of diesel and the filler cut out. Again this happened whilst I was having a ‘steady’ drive to Wales, (the tank was ¾ full) I was not pushing it, more like a Sunday afternoon drive and again it happened. But this time I checked with the cars computer and that told me that I had about twenty miles in the tank. Being in the middle of Wales, miles from a garage, I panicked. I was driving like an old person. About thirty miles later the gauge shot up to ¾ again. Recently it has been doing the usual consumption, 55 to 60 mpg Does/has anyone ever had this happen to them before, have you solved the problem, if so how? I was thinking about getting rid of Fabia vRS-but I haven’t got the heart, especially after recently when It corrects itself. Any offers of advice please? Thank you
  3. Dear All ** Before I ask the question I cannot see any hope with my complaint, but if you don’t have a go you will never know! ** I have a Fabia vRS and it is coming up to four years old. Last year I asked you Briskodians about a lump which had formed in the dense foam of the driver’s seat. And this was starting to rub the grey material thin. To be exact it is in the kidney support area. Anyhow. I got an answer from one person who said that everybody had experienced bobbling in this area. Twelve months later this crease has rubbed the material that thin that it is now a small hole in the material. I know some may be thinking well it is four years old and things/materials don’t last forever! And that may be the case but I hardly use the car, sometimes twice a week at the most three times a week. It has just hit 27,000 miles in four years so the car is under the average mileage! Even though the car is out of warranty and perhaps the upholstery may not have been covered, do I have any rights to complain to Skoda/Volkswagen? I would take it up/enquire with the main dealer but past experiences with this group have led to me being ripped off by these people who are quite frankly are about as useful as a chocolate teapot. If I could approach Skoda/VW then I do need to be armed with as much info as poss! Seriously, any advice would be gratefully appreciated! Many thanks David
  4. Thank you to all that answered my query!
  5. Hello folks a little advice please? Cosmetic Work Yesterday morning got back from Asda and put my Fabia into the garage. Just as I was closing the door I noticed some ‘B’ had scuffed my back bumper. It totals to about four inches. Can someone recommend a product that will buff out the scratch? I was watching you tube sometime ago and seen this vid where this product virtually buffed out and masked the scratch to someone’s bumper. I was impressed I have had the car now for just over three years. And totally chuffed with it-nippy and comfortable. Thanks for any advice!
  6. I have just hit the third year into owning my Fabia vRS; and chuffed. Over the last week I have noticed some rubbing on the back support of my seat-the grey bit that supports the rib cage area (sides). The material is getting quite thin around this area and am worried about it incase it turns into a hole. When I lightly rub over this area there is a lump coming out of the support foam-this is not big about the size of a flat head of a small screw (Hope you are following me) Has anyone had a similar problem to this, if so what did you do? If the grey material it gets any thinner I am tempted to take it to my local dealer and see what they say. This has not been caused through neglect. In my opinion there is something wrong with the foam that supports? Any help or advice appreciated. Cheers
  7. To be quite frank I would keep the Fabia vRS for a while longer. I am just going into the third year of ownership of the little beauty and I cannot see or neither do I want another car at the moment. It’s virtually three yrs old and it has just gone over 21,000 miles so plenty of life in the little girl at the moment. A few months ago I went into my local Skoda dealers to view the new Superb and was impressed with it. But while I was there I enquired about the new Fabia vRS and when I was coming out? I was told ‘I cannot see the new Fabia vRS being put into production’ I do not thrape it and have hardly pushed it. Stick to the Fabia for a little while longer
  8. (Sorry If This Is In Wrong Section) Just had to renew my insurance and the cheapest for me was with More Than. As part of the quote it also included free breakdown cover. I asked who it was with and the girl told me that it was Europ Assistance? It includes doorstep cover and relay to your destination she said. I told her I had never heard of them, she told me in a recent survey they were quicker call out times than AA and the RAC, and Europ Assistance is endorsed by More Than. Has anyone had any experiences/heard of this group, if so do you rate them? I would have preferred Green Flag but it was included in the insurance cover so hands were tied. Appreciate any advice…thanks
  9. I asked a question for a mate a few months ago on this site who wants a Fabia vRS. The time has come to ask another. There is a second hand Fabia vRS for sale close to where my mate lives. It’s a 06 plate. It’s black with cruise. Good condition with a shade over 20.000 miles. Religiously serviced by main dealer. And has never been thraped! The bloke is asking £7,500. Now what do people think? Personally I said to my mate that that was a fair/good price! Any advice on the price or what to look out for with regards to niggling problems. Thanks all!
  10. Have had my Fabia vRS now nearly three years..and chuffed. But have noticed recently that when it's cold on startup there is a burning oil smell. As I said earlier I have had it now nearly three yrs from new and can honestly sayhave not thraped it or pushed it to the extreme-I do have a bit of fun in it at times but with the coppers around so much recently it aint worth it. Also I have never had a diesel before now-so is this a trait of the diesel engine when it's cold? Cheers folks:)
