  1. Take a bulb out and use a hair dryer to dry it out. Sounds like a seal has gone so moisture will return. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
  2. I own a 1.4 tsi Octavia which I bought in September from looker's dealership. It had only covered 27 k I noticed a rattle on start up and took it back. They replaced the chain and tensioner under warranty. Gave me 2 years parts warranty on the chain and tensioner. It's a good little engine good on fuel and fast enough. My advice would be if your going to buy one get it from a Skoda dealer you get one year warranty and break down cover. Then look into a aftermarket warranty. Still a lot cheaper than buying a brand new car. Ask if the chain as ever been replaced etc. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
  3. This argument could rage on forever. If dacia are that bad why would Renault put their name to them. Plus they wouldn't be sold in Europe if they aren't safe. Lots of people slated Skoda when they went under the vw umbrella. It's the same principal as vw Skoda. Renault recycling technology passing the saving on. Plus its tried and tested tec. I would have one over a Hyundai simply because you get more for your money. Fair play to the dacia owners taking the plunge. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
  4. Good point on the ncap rating 3 out of 5 is not great. However the sandero has 4 out of 5 which is ok marked down on pedestrian safety. I think if I was in the market for dacia I'd go for the stepway. Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
  5. I would buy it. Change your oil more often can't be bad. I personally wouldn't go beyond 10k without changing it. So when it's this cheap you can change it say every 5k. Make sure though you get a good quality oil filter like Mann Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
  6. Get a decent set off all season tyres I did on my 2wd octy. Live in the high peak no problems getting about and no changing them in the summer. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
  7. Ask your mechanic how many Dacia's he has fixed. Then ask him how many Skoda's he's fixed. I nearly bought a stepway but got swayed into buying a Octavia on a 12 plate. Wish I'd bought the dacia. 1 month into ownership needed a new condenser new timing chain and tensioner. Still sounds like a bag of spanners on start up. Only got 28000 miles FSH. Luckily i bought it from a main dealer so got 12 month warranty. If you do buy a Dacia you get up to 7 years warranty. It looks OK it's cheap to run loads more space than a i10 and the parts are cheap. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

  9. Like I said diesels do give better mpg. Dpfs are fitted to later models for emission reasons. And because there is more torque on a diesel engine can cause dmfs to fail more frequently. It does add up. Unless you cover lots of miles. Which I don't. Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
  10. Diesels do give better mpg no doubt. However petrol engine cars take less time to warm up and don't have dpf filters so for short trips low mileage user's petrol is best. I know this from my own experience. Also did I mention duel mass fly wheels on diesels expensive when they go wrong. So what you save in fuel you end up losing in repairs in the long run. 11. Don't forget fuel is relatively cheap at the moment. So you will notice the difference. My 1.4 tsi Octavia averages 40 ish mpg 80 percent town driving. Which I think is ok for a family size car. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
  12. Just changed mine to a armrest with a jumbo box it also came with ducting for the rear vents on the armrest. Cost me 72 pounds all in. Second hand in good condition. It's not the easiest job took me a couple of hours taking my time. Your best bet is to type in Skoda Octavia breaking on eBay and find one off that. Be patience not many around. 13. Think it's a no go then too expensive. Thanks for all your input. Plus side did manage to get a used genuine armrest centre console. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
