  1. it looks like the previous owner has done what they can to quiet it down as there are pads on the belt clips and it looks like a few of the panels have already been looked at. much of the time it is pretty much silent but then a change in surface and it's like a different car! I did find the ecu was a loose in the tunnel below the windscreen which I manage to secure but that made no difference. Strange thing is when I'm in the car with the wife it's not so noticeable...
  2. To be honest most of them do come and go and don't bother me to much. One that really niggles me is a high frequency rattle/buzz that as best as I can make out comes from the dash behind the centre air vents... It's sufficiently loud enough to be heard above the radio especially as I mostly listen to R4 or other talk shows, it seems to be dependent on road surface and is more of a resonance from coarse finished Tarmac. Other than this problem it's a fantastic drive, the wife seems to think it's the pan roof but I'm more inclined to thing it's the noise being drowned out.
  3. Ok so it seems my post is missing? I was originally saying yes it is Superb except... All the annoying rattles which are driving me mad It's possibly the rattliest car I have ever driven in! Am I alone or is this common in superbs?
  4. Is it possible the whole thing could become a non event, if recalls are optional and there is no penalty for leaving your vehicle as is. This could amount to a heafty fine and a 'don't do it again' From a political/economic view VAG is just to big a cash cow in Europe. My guess is that will carry a lot of weight with regards to any actions against them.
  5. I can only go on information given so far saying it won't be safety critical. History given on previous safety recalls shows that it's hard to enforce compulsory recalls with many cars never returning to the dealers. A non compulsory recall would also be a cheaper option? Is it possible your rod tax would be adjusted if your car isn't taken in...
  6. I'm at a loss to understand why anyone would bother with the recall, it's a loose/loose situation for the car owner and it's not compulsory. I don't buy into the resale issues either, I would be looking for one with out the fix personally.
  7. Thanks for your reply Rusty, I'll have to try and find out if I have some one local with a vcds unit who would be preraired to help me out. I suppose I could just try a v7+ maps update and then worry about a firmware update afterwards if that hasn't work... Thanks again
  8. Hi,im looking to upgrade/update my system but im worried that if I use vw upgrade dvd I will end up with a vw star up logo... or is dependent on the firmware version?
  9. Hi all have recently purchased my first skoda (2010 superb) which I'm really chuffed with. The only thing I would really like to change with it is the ability to get full postcode on the navigation, had a look a a few threads on this great forum to see what I need but I'm unable to find my current map and f/w version as I don't have the setup access to the info. If anyone could give me any help on what map update I need to get or if I need the f/w update too I would be very grateful. Many thanks Roy
