  1. But you didn't start by pursuing the simple answer, so you wouldn't know. When this solution was first suggested you dismissed it out of hand. Instead you continued banging on about removing door cards and using some crappy sealant, people have wasted precious hours because of you and your I know best attitude. And I knew you wouldn't be able to resist replying to most post now, just like you couldn't resist replying to my initial post in this topic, you're a typical know-it-all.
  2. The simplest answer is usually the correct answer. And the simplest answer in this thread is to seal the gap across the bottom of all 4 door windows - on the outside, obviously, with some insulating tape.

  4. I had a similar problem on a Superb and I had to resort to disconnecting the battery every evening (a one minute job) Long term this is no use, but in the short term it saves you arsing about with booster packs and jump leads.

I know I'm 5 years behind the times, but I just love the way Shbi comes from out of nowhere and posts half a dozen possible solutions, including one which sounds like he reduced the car to a bare shell, yet he doesn't know how to start a new topic. Ha ha ha, no way was this mystery man from Skoda HQ, no no no.
  6. I recall years ago, when I had the water ingress problem, as part of the fix I had to lift the rear passenger side carpet, and under there you will find a bundle of red wires that will need stripping down and "re-doing" (for want of a better word.)
  7. I used this very detailed write up to replace the regulator on the drivers door, today. Due to everything being the opposite way around, I took a few photo's just for reference. I'm by no means mechanically minded and so the job took about 4 hours (that included looking after a 4 year old for the last 2 hours) anybody who can wield a screwdriver can do this job yourself. one of the trickiest bits was removing the plastic runner from the metal window clamp!!!!!!!! Did some seating over that All in all, very good write up.

The ticking is coming from the relay itself, and having previously owned an Octavia with same problem, which was resolved by replacing the relay, I thought it safe to assume that this one would be sorted by similarly replacing the relay? Just waiting for the relay through the post, so I'll soon discover if it was in vain.
  10. Eventually managed to get the front centre air vents out. A fair bit of effort and a lot of patience. I used 2 screwdrives and as a result the vent surround now has scuffs and scratches on it, with hindsight it would have been better to use something with a larger, flat blade, a wallpaper scraaper perhaps? Six clips just need easing in order to release the unit from it's position. Now I'm left with the problem of the socket for the hazard relay having a ridiculously short cable on it............................................
  11. Wish I'd read this first. Just removed the hazard warning switch, and as I "gently" pull the unit out, the plug comes out of the back and stays within the confines of the dash. Looks like it's gonna be a pain to pull it out so as to fit the new switch - any ideas? Thanks.
  12. I've got a 54 plate, just noticed bubbling around the rear number plate lights while I've been arssing around trying to get the lights to work (unsuccesfully)....ONWARDS WITH MY QUEST TO GET THEM WORKING.
  13. So the air con hadn't worked properly on my car for about 3 years - in hot weather the air it spewed out would be warm. So I decided the other day to gget a re-charge, and this did the job and I had lovely cold air in my car once again. On the second day of use, after driving for several hours, I had an issue when I was in very heavy traffic, and the car hadn't moved for about 5 minutes, the vents suddenly started throwing out warm, and then very warm air. I switched the system off and opened the windows instead, and waited til I was running in traffic before I switched it on again, and when I did it was still warm at first but then went cold like it had previously been. A short while later I was in traffic again and the same thing happened, except this time I noticed that the temp gauge on the dash had gone to about the ten past position, again I switched it off and within a couple of minutes the needle on the gauge had returned to the normal position. I'm now frightened to put the air con on - does anybody have any ideas what the issue might be?
