How to remove the glove box with airbag key?
Cwillson replied to Cwillson's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Cool, thanks. I've got the battery out, but can't see the grommet. Any further info on where I should be looking? High? Low? Left? Right? -

How to remove the glove box with airbag key?

Legend, thanks for the detailed advice fella. Will give it a go this weekend. -
Hi there, I've heard that there is a grommet, between the engine bay and the interior of the car, which can be used to run a sub power cable. I've seen instructions on how to remove the glove box, but they mention taking care if there is an airbag key switch, although they include no details of how/why. Can anyone suggest what process I will need to use to ensure I don't come a cropper when removing the glove box please (with pics if possible)? Thanks Chris

Hiya, I've recently purchased an Audiosources DS-820 head unit, and love it! The unit comes with twin USB cables, so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for how/where to fit these and, if they are in the dash somewhere, how to finish them nicely rather than just leaving the cables poking through. Thanks, Chris

Hi peeps, Icebox auto have sent me this as a possible replacement for my factory fitted Stream head unit -Skoda Octavia II (2007 - 2009) Android 4.0 I005. http://www.iceboxauto.com/skoda-octavia-ii-2007-2009-android-44-i005 I'm waiting for them to confirm whether it's compatible with my 55 plate octavia 2 (pre fl) but in the meantime was wondering whether anyone had any experience with this head unit? Thanks Chris

So, still no response from icebox auto. :( Who'da thought finding decent, reasonably priced 2din after market head unit could be this frustrating! Really like the idea of the android units, as I'm a bit of an android fan boy already, but even finding one of these, with reliable performance and decent reviews seems tricky! Thinking about just ditching the idea of integrated GPS maps and going with a BT hands free unit and sticking with Google maps on my phone. Seems much less of a minefield.

This link is for the VW model by the looks of things. The only DNS I can find under "Skoda" is the DNS610. Are there likely to be compatibility issues on my Octavia II? (Also, I've seen folk referring to "pre-face-lift", but have there only been 2 face-lifts - from I to II to III?) What's the difference between the 810 and 610? Is it worth quibbling about? Kinda sold on getting one of these units. Do you need to pay to get the maps loaded on it? I notice that it has a mirroring feature. Does this mean I can simply mirror the screen on my Android device running Google Maps?

Thanks for the replies all. The kenwood looks ace, but I doubt the missus will let me stretch to paying out that much, sadly! I'm not really fussed about the satnav, as I've always used google maps on my phone and found this to be more than sufficient. Its really just streaming BT, with handsfree phone connection, CD player and (preferably) an RCA sub output. If it has a steering wheel control too, that would be great (although how do these fit to the vehicle if they're not factory standard?) Any other options out there?
