  3. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned before but the visualizer is up and running on the Skoda Auto page: http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/models/kodiaq/pages/overview.aspx#ExtendableModuleWebPart KP
  4. Norton Way Skoda in West Hill Road. They are both a Honda and Skoda dealership but have carried out a few services on my old Fabia in the past and I found them pretty good.
  5. Fun and games for me this week.... My car which is on a personal lease plan complete with maintenance and servicing was booked in at a dealership in Epsom for its first service at the behest of the OBC. Whilst it was there I also asked them to attend to the recall and the modification to the wiper jets (neither of which they knew anything about), I also asked for them to replace the wiper blades. Had a call later that morning from the service advisor who told me that the supplying dealer should have set the car to variable servicing and not fixed servicing and as a result VWFS would not authorise a service. The helpful chap at the dealers then went on to tell me that I would need to take the car to the supplying dealer (Prestons) to have it correctly set up as if they did it they would have to charge me. I had to ask him if he really was suggesting that I drive the car 500 miles so it can be plugged in to a laptop for 2 mins - he confirmed he was. When I pointed out this was madness he simply said that its their fault, not ours. Maybe I am being harsh, but what a jobsworth! Long story short, after speaking to VWFS, they "came to an arrangement" with the Epsom dealer to reset the service indicator and it will now be set correctly to variable once its has done another 10K miles. Doesn't really bother me that its first service is going to be 20K miles as its only my responsibility for 2 years, its not like its my car, but I am going to make sure that VWFS confirm to me in writing that they have sanctioned the above - after all its my responsibility to have the car correctly serviced as per the lease agreement. Finally and to top it all off Epsom had the car for the rest of the day to do the other work, however, when I finally got a call at 4.30pm they said that they couldn't change the wiper blades as their parts guys were not stocking them yet and they didn't have the part to alter the wiper jet. They did carry the recall out though....... So I lost a good half a days work dropping off and collecting the car as well as talking on the phone to not have my car serviced. Still at least they washed the it though! Wimbledon Park next time....
  6. As it will be a second car just for weekend fun it would have to be a lot cheaper and less practical! I will probably end up with something 2 seater and convertible and then have a S/C retro fitted (may be another MX-5), but when talking about Jaguars the S Type R's have always appealed as an under the radar brute and they are looking quite good value now.
  7. Didn't test drive anything before ordering, not even the Superb itself. Previous cars from 1992 onwards: 1. Ford Fiesta Mk1 Popular Plus 2. Ford Fiesta Mk2 XR2 3. Fiat Bravo 4. 8. Its a little irrelevant now as BillyJim has been our guinea pig, however, I have finally heard back from Skoda UK Customer Services: I have now received a response from the ŠKODA brand and they have stated the following: The vehicle‘s satellite navigation system will recognise that it is being driven abroad and adapt system rules accordingly. So, there we go. KP
  9. That sounds about right. Thanks for the prompt replies chaps. KP
  10. Afternoon All, My long term MPG has reset itself twice now. I am not sure if it is supposed to do this by design but it seems quite random (as in it doesn't roll-over 2K miles for example and then back to zero). The first time it happened I wondered whether I had inadvertently reset it myself somehow, however, it did it again yesterday at about 5,500 miles. Has anybody else noticed this with their cars? Cheers KP
  11. Try pressing the rolling selector button in to scroll between long term, since start and since refuelling averages. Regards
  12. Thanks Buzzlightear. I was not too sure about the wheels when I placed the order but I am glad I chose them as they do look a lot better in real life than they come across in some photographs. They were my biggest extravagance when I ordered and not something I mentioned to the Mrs.........
  13. A gratuitous snap of my SE Business Combi hiding away from the Christmas shoppers in the far corner of the multi storey roof!
  14. After emailing twice and then finally getting a call from customer services where they tried to tell me that the car would only detect vehicles directly ahead and I then explained "that's not what the manual says", I got a call back saying they were talking to the factory. That was a week ago. I will advise when/if I hear back. KP
  15. Hi Rick, I can confirm that the lights on mine do not extend into the boot. Regards Kyle
  16. Following delivery of my Superb III my MK1 Fabia VRS is for sale. (07 plate) Registered March 2007 Stunning Corrida Red paintwork with standard VRS two tone grey sports interior. The car is very original and in good order throughout. The Colour is bright with a deep shine and bodywork is very straight with only a few minor stone chips (that have been touched up) and barely perceptible parking dings (the type you only ever notice after you have had a car for a few weeks!). The interior is well kept and unmarked (I have shampooed twice in the last 12 months), no rips, tears or wear on bolsters or elsewhere. As mentioned above the car has been kept standard and so the spec is typical VRS fare, however, some points to note are; factory fitted rear sunblind, VRS floor mats, ESP, original steel spare with Bridgestone tyre and tool kit. I have owned the car since November 2014 when I chose to opt out of my company car scheme as I didn't fancy being stuck with a bog standard A3 or Golf diesel. The VRS ticked all of the boxes, cheap to buy and run, reputation for reliability and good economy. I have not been let down on any level. The particular car was chosen because it was a later plate, was free of any aftermarket modifications, had FSH (including the cambelt) and was a low enough mileage. I cover circa 20-30K every year so needed a vehicle with no more than 55K at purchase. Prior to purchase the dealer I purchased from had the door membranes sealed as it was a little misted up (problem solved) serviced and MOT'd the car. The mileage at purchase was circa 52,000 since this time I have covered circa 20,000 miles. In the last 20,000 miles with the car I have experienced no issues with the car at all. The vehicle has transported me all over the SE for work (nothing carried but me!) and the family down to Cornwall and the South of France without hint of any fault or hiccups. In total the car has been serviced 10 times since 2007, with services at 8,540, 13,653, 20076, 24203, 31498, 38878, 45990, 52270, 63000, 71692. The cambelt was changed at 38,878 in November 2012. The last 3 services were carried out since November 2014. The last 2 at Norton Way Skoda, with the latest on the 06/11/15. The car has a fresh MOT (no advisories) which expires 03/12/16. Front discs and pads and rear discs renewed in June 2015. 2 x Toyo Proxes have been fitted within the last 50 miles. The other 2 tyres are Nexen and have 5mm of tread. All wiper blades were changed at MOT. Given the mileages I cover and the reliance I have on my cars to do my job I try to ensure they are correctly maintained and cared for. It is a great little car, I am only selling as I needed to get something more befitting of my new job grade for when I arrive at meetings and cannot justify the cost of keeping two cars when saving for a wedding and a new family home! The link below will take you to my Autotrader advert where there are approx. 20 images, I do have more so just ask and I can email them to you directly http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201511128638398 I am keen to sell as the car is just sat outside getting rained on all day (and I don't want to clean it again!!) the price is £4,295 but I would be willing to consider sensible offers. Feel free to contact me with any questions and I will do my best to answer. KP
  17. The question is what is "working normally", automatically slowing you from 80mph to 55mph every time you try to pass a HGV or allow you to pass by unimpeded? Sadly, it seems they just don't know.....joke
  18. No electric boot or sunblinds on my combi but I do have the footwell, LED puddle and LED number plate lights. I have the boot net, but it cost me.
  19. Thanks. They definitely look better in the metal, pictures often don't do them justice. Saying that, found another picture. Here you go:
  20. RickTT, I have this one. Not very good quality, was sent by the garage to me before I collected. I can take some more tomorrow if you like, but it is pretty grimy at the moment. KP
  21. BillyJim I totally agree with what you say. In fact it would be not only pretty much useless having CC if you have to constantly have a foot hovering over the gas pedal to override it but I think the way the system works could be potentially very dangerous also. If you are travelling at European motorway speeds you could easily be passing slower vehicles at double their speed and often have vehicles travelling at similar speeds as you are very close behind you. If the road in front is clear someone following you is not going to be expecting you to decelerate or worse brake suddenly. We all know how dangerous it can be if the car in front of you suddenly and unexpectedly slows up or brakes for no good reason, especially at speed, it only takes a momentary glance at Sat Nav or the radio and there you go. What is even more concerning is the suggestion in the manual that the cars speed MAY or COULD be regulated by the traffic in the offside lane. It should be WILL or WONT. Not knowing how the car is going to react in these situations would probably just cause me to turn the system off entirely. I don't fancy 1500 mile round trips with no CC. I eagerly look forward to hearing what they say BillyJim.
  22. I am not sure if it would need recalibration as it seems it has been designed this way. I am sure it would not be in the manual if this were not the case. The fact it only is triggered by vehicles in the offside lane and not nearside would back this up. It would seem the ACC on the Superb III is different to other VAG, and Skoda systems. What is strange is the use of language "Your vehicle MAY be regulated according to the vehicle in the adjacent lane" & "This COULD occur at speeds above 80km/h...." although this could simply be to limit liability in the event of the system not working as it should. What would be useful is knowing if the active part of the ACC could indeed be disabled temporarily as I would probably want to do this on long trips on the continent so as not to have to keep manually reassuring the car its OK to overtake on the motorways.
  23. The manual states the following: Regulation according to the vehicle in the adjacent lane During regulation your vehicle may be regulated according to the vehicle in the adjacent lane. This could occur at speeds above 80km/h when your vehicle is moving faster than the vehicle in the adjacent lane on the driver's side. The display shows the detected vehicle is in the adjacent lane. I have noted that a gentle dip of the go pedal will override the ACC is in these circumstances. KP
