  1. I've changed my mind I liked it but having seen some real world photo's I really don't now. It doesn't look right, it's out of porportion and for some odd reason a panda (the animal not the car) springs to mind. In summary- oh dear.
  2. The 16's had brand new Goodyear F1's and the 14's were close to needing changing. I just did a 35 mile run on the M4 @ 65MPH and got 49MPG. Yesterday I was doing a tad more than that but not much more!
  3. Team Dynamics Monza's apparently built using the materials as the Pro Race series of alloys. They weigh a lot more than the 14" alloys/steels.
  4. So it looks like refurbing the 14's and getting some new rubber for them. Oh well!
  5. I think the general feedback is increased fuel economy, achieved by having the car in the right gear. That might be 3rd @ 30Mph and not 4th. I think a lot of people assume the higher the gear the better MPG they're getting especially around town. My dad rarely revs beyond 3000 rpm, it drives me bonkers!
  6. I've been running my 1.2 on 16's for a few days and I have found the difference rather shocking. This morning I did a mixture of motorway and town driving (75/25% split), 29MPG average honest to god. I've averaged sub 35MPG and I normally see early 40's on 14" alloys. The car has creaked and groaned more, is less responsive (I expected as much) so tonight I've stuck my 14" steels back on (tyres on the 14" alloys were getting a bit low). Checked the tyre pressures and went for a blast, the difference was very noticeable. I'll have to have a long hard think about what I can do wheel wise now!
  7. I think the whole ebay feedback system is a bit of a con. As stated above people rarely leave negative feedback in fear of retailation. I've had one or two bad experinces and luckily not lost too much money (probably not a lot less than I have saved).
  8. Oh and my social life has suffered massively to get where I am (not that I've achieved much in the grand scheme of things). Long work hours and lots of studing.
  9. I'm 25 and can tell you IT is a pain to get into. It's a doubled edged sword, you need qualifications and experience. When I was 19 I dropped out of an IT HND with the idea of studing for Microsoft exams. That never happened but I managed to wangle my way in to IT. I then spent 2 years doing something I disliked because I couldn't get into IT, then came another lucky break. I started in helpdesk/techincal support again, 3 years later & a MCSA in Messaging (ie. Exchange) I'm a Network Engineer. It doesn't stop there this year I aim to have my MCSE and possibly CCNA or VMWARE qualification. I have risen through the ranks of helpdesk & technical support engineer. A 24 year old guy I work with ran his own small IT business, yet is on our helpdesk getting what I call 'corporate' IT experience. He's keen & switched on, what he's doing is below him but he knows you have to be a patient and get some experience behind you before you can move on and earn more money. He's also about to embark on studying his first MCP. A lot of people knock the MS exams, but if you study for them and make sure you understand the subject fully then you'll be fine. Don't do the brain dumps and then end up looking a numpty as you actually know nothing. If you want to PM I can suggest some good books that it'd be worth your while reading. Ps. I don't believe a degree will do any techy any good, if you want to be a softy then yes a degree has it merits.
  10. I must admit I bought a fabia, couldn't see anything wrong with it. Picked it up then noticed that the paint wasn't quite right later on, I noticed initally on the rear door having had the rear bumper off I now know that the rear quarter panel and bumper have also been resprayed. Spoke to the dealer and was basically told you had chance to look at it before you bought it...bye. (Bye to my future custom for them!) I've had lots of run ins over another Fabia with them and decided that I paid a reasonable price for the car and it drives OK so decided to hang on to it. I must admit it been a good car but I do wonder where I stand with the Skoda paintwork & perferation warranty (it's an approved car so I assume I'm covered). As for rejecting a car the quicker you get the wheels in motion (excuse the pun) the better, speak with consumer direct, as previously stated, they will advise the best course of action. Also advise the finance company (if any). Skoda Customer Services will also help in increasing the dealers sense of urgency. Good Luck.
  11. Will deifnately keep copies and send the reply letter recorded. I'm going to enclose a copy of the DVLA notification (that I'm no longer the owner) and hopefully that will be the end of it.
  12. He swore a lot! Not a good day out in anyone books!
  13. I arrived home from work and sat on the kitchen worktop was a rather serious looking A5 sized envelope. Not expecting anything in particular I opened it and almost died, speeding notice!!! Firstly I looked at the speed the car was caught at (58mph) and then the limit (40mph), several words came to mind however non are particularly repeatable. As I read on I notice it's for my old car and further down the letter was the date of the offence. Luckily it was last week and I traded the car in 3 months ago. I have a letter from the DVLA proving I'm no longer the owner. Some poor sod is in for a horrible surprise. Still a heart stopping moment though! Any ideas what that'd have been 3 or 6 points? I'm guessing 6.
  14. Well I went from a vRS to a 1.2 12v anf not found it too bad. Mind you I was sick to death of the agro I had the vRS.
