  1. Has anyone here had any luck with Skoda buying back their vehicles due to the boom and air pressure build up? My car has gotten worse in the last couple of months. Previously it would sort it self to a bearable level with slamming the trunk, but now it seems that this only works for a short period of time. Passing a bump triggers my car to start booming and sometimes the whole thing feels like you have a helicopter in the trunk. I'm leasing mine, and I frankly can't stand it anymore. It was at the shop for 2 weeks for this issue. I've had one mechanic with me in the car, who acknowledged the problem, and another one working on my car who also acknowledged it. They returned it to me after checking the balance of my wheels, tried another set of wheels on it, checked the alignment of the stops and also the air vents in the cargo area. They also drove it for 150 km.. When they were out of luck trying to fix it, they found another car on their lot who acted like mine, and said it's a design feature of the RS, which of course is BS. They now say they've done everything they can with my car, and that I should just accept it as is.
  2. The paint felt a bit tired after almost two years of daily use on our lovely salty Swedish roads, so it was time for a detailing. I had to use some cutting compund on the hood and along the pillars, then the whole car was polished with CarPro Essence and then protected with CarPro Reload. I'm very happy with the result.
  3. My car is a 2015 TSI DSG hatch and I've put 13000 km on it now. On my daily commute the car consumes about 7.7 l / 100, which is on ring roads and motorways with some traffic. I went on a 400 km trip today, with b-roads and speeds between 70-130 km/h, and the consumption dropped to 7.0 l / 100 km (40.3 mpg) with my girlfriend and dog in the car. I did floor it a few times for overtaking so I bet it could manage a bit better with me being less aggressive on the throttle. And oil
  4. Summer tyres on at last. Much more appealing to the eye than before, and the traction improvements feels like it's on rails and have a hundred horses more. I'll have to get it polished soon though, this red paint picks up scratches easier than any other car I've previously owned.
  5. Bummer about the love notes on your VRS. The S60 is an excellent choice for refinement without breaking the bank. The 04's have the best seats Volvo has made to this date, except for the new XC90 but that's in a completely different league. Be sure to check the crankcase is in working order, I belive the oil change interval here in Sweden was 30000 km on those model years, which lead to oil sludge.
  6. I agree with you, Pigglesberg and pipsypreturns. However, I went and had the paint inspected by the Skoda (VW) staff a week ago and got a call today. They are not trying to polish it out, rather they want to repaint the whole roof as a warranty act. I find it strange they won't even try correcting it by polishing it, and they told me not to try it myself. The car is a lease, so it doesn't bother me that much, but if I had owned it myself I wouldn't be so keen on them repainting the roof as a first step.
  7. I did try to wax it off with no result. I've only been washing it with either Turtle Superwash (Don't think that is available in the UK) or Meguairs wash and wax. I didn't wax it before the winter as I felt that it would be sufficent to use a shampoo with wax in it during the winter. However, I went to the dealer today and from the initial inspection the paint and body work service manager was almost certain that this was a manufacturing error. I've booked a time for their paint guy to measure the paint and further assess the damage and hopefully it will get sorted on warranty.
  8. Hi, Yesterday when I washed my 4 month old Octavia VRS I noticed a white "milky" half circle around the shark fin aerial. I can't feel any difference of the surface of the paint and I'm not sure how it got there. The only bird poo I've found on it has been on the wing mirror, and that left no marks. Could this be from the factory? I did not notice anything wrong with it when I picked it up.
  9. I'm answering my own question regarding the VW Sima wheel. Found a set of Sima 6.5x17 ET39 with good winter tires on them for cheap, so I took the risk and bought them. Fits nicely even with weights right behind the spokes. Center badges are larger than those on the Gemini's, so I'll have to settle for the VW ones until I can get a hold on a Skoda / VRS set. Not the nicest rim I know, but at least they will be easier than the Gemini's to clean
  10. Thanks for the replies. I found a set of 205/50/17 on VW OEM wheels called Sima. Does anyone know if these would clear the calipers? They are 6x17" and have ET45.
  11. I'm looking to buy a set of second hand winter wheels for my vRS and there seems to be a lot more to choose from if I'd go for 225/50/17, instead of 225/45/17 or 205/50/17. Has anybody here runt with that setup? If so, any issues apart from the speedometer being slightly off?
  12. Picked up this last wednsday. Skoda Sweden had a bunch of unsold MY 2015 on which they ran a lease deal. So I grabbed this one up for just a few pennies over what a base spec TSI 110 would have cost per month Apart for the 90's inspired Bolero infotainment screen and high road noise, I'm exteremly happy with it. Came with DSG, Canton speakers, blacked out trim, 18" Gemini in antracite and Sunset tinted windows. Also proves you don't need an estate for a midsized dog.
