  1. Finally got mine to work with WiFi Direct. The suite of Smartgate-connected apps seems to be getting better, it is not as useless as it was a few months ago. The Skoda Drive app keeps a log of my routes and logs speed, acceleration, braking and fuel consumption.
  2. We are not quite in the age of driverless cars, so as annoying as that warning might be, it is there for a good reason.
  3. It would have been superb (pun intended) if the Columbus unit had a built-in uPNP server.... Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  4. Sounds to me like a fun project to do, I'll check and report back - thanks for the idea! Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  5. The only adjustment I had to make is the timezone. Everything else - lights, speed limit road signs (mph - km/h), ACC - was automatic. The car can even remind you about national speed limits when crossing borders. Simply clever indeed! Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  6. As per another thread, L&K's ordered before May will still get the TV tuner as standard and free of charge. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  7. Done both a couple of times. There, it's off my chest now Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  8. Nexus 6 - compatible with Android Auto, no Mirrorlink. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  9. The left mirror will only dip in reverse if the mirror adjustment switch is in the L position - this is documented. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  10. Google Maps gets traffic and accident alerts from Waze and that works wonderfully with Android Auto. TMC works as well but nowhere near at Google's level of detail. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  11. L&K is embossed on my S3's front brown leather seats. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  12. This happened again... Tried everything to no avail. Can anyone please suggest the verified procedure? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  13. I hope the season for using the seat heating is now over, but just out of interest - is there any way to control the rear seat heating from the front?
  14. A couple of months ago I spent hours looking for answers to these two exact questions and found nothing.
  15. Isn't this the REST function (residual heat)?
  16. Wasn't this "hacked" with VCDS to show a menu for a Webasto heater that isn't there?
  17. Thank you Skoda for the Rear Traffic Alert - it saved my bacon as I was reversing out of the space to the right behind the rightmost bay here after dropping someone off: As soon as I have started to reverse, the car emitted a very loud beep followed by a slam on the brakes - all within 1/4th of a second. Only after seeing "Emergency braking complete. Please take over" on the dash I realised how close that was... The other car just zoomed past, doing at least 40 mph in a 30 mph zone.
  18. No online streaming and no OTA firmware updates. I'm wondering if there is any use of it apart from providing the Internet access to in-car WiFi.
  19. Why would you need GPS data to be sent over Bluetooth? With Android Auto, the phone receives the input from a number of car sensors - GPS, compass, speedometer, light sensor etc.
  20. The button is there with the heated screen as well, so I can only assume that you get it without the heated windscreen too. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  21. Never happened to me.Things discovered recently: - the lists in Android Auto can be scrolled through with the right rotary control on the head unit as well as using the touch screen; - the voice input of Android Auto can be invoked by a long press on the voice button on the steering wheel (short press only starts car voice control); - an incoming SMS / text / Hangouts / WhatsApp / Skype message causes a pop-up notification but the message text is never displayed. If you long-press on the notification then the text will be read out to you and you can reply to by voice, but you can't send a message to anyone else - you can only reply to the latest message. - Android Auto is much more reliable after the latest update; - voice commands available in Android Auto is only a small subset of what Google Now can do; - other languages work but not as good as English; - some of the responses to voice commands can cause hysterical laughs
  22. Superb Hatch L&K 2.0 TSI 220 PS DSG Brilliant Silver Metallic; Brown Leather; Service Plan; Ventilated front seats; Temporary space-saver spare wheel; Smart light assist with Lane assist and Blind Spot Detection; Travel assist with traffic sign recognition anddisplay Heated windscreen washer nozzles; Rear window wiper; Rear-view parking camera; SmartGate Waste bin in door panel. 23. Only media player apps are selectable. Messaging apps (including Skype) only show notifications for incoming messages and send voice-to-text replies.Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  24. I spent a few days using Android Auto exclusively to replace the built-in Columbus satnav and music player functions, and I am starting to think that it is actually better. Apps that play music: - Google Music - Amazon Music - TuneIn Apps that deliver messages that Google can read out using text-to-speech: - Hangouts - WhatsApp - SMS Wish list: - Skype (with voice calls) - Waze - Facebook Messenger (or does it work already?) - Viber - Replying to messages with voice (at the moment it refuses to do so) What other apps have you found to work in Android Auto and what is on your wish list?
  25. When traffic moves again, you can either resume ACC or press accelerator slightly to get the car to move again. This is normal and I guess it is a safety feature, which makes perfect sense to me. But my car keeps pace with the lane I'm in and never the one on the right, even if it is slower.
