Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes it's the music and not the map data card I was talking about, sorry for not being clear. This morning I didn't switch it on until a couple of minutes into my journey, problem yesterday seemed to occur when trying to play music before engine was started. Anyway this seems to have solved the 'problem', maybe the Amundsen hasn't booted up properly until the engine is started?

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but I'm getting an error message on the Amundsen screen when I first turn it on and select Media from the SD card; it's only resolved when I eject and then insert the card again? The message is something along the lines of 'SD Card Error' and I'm unable to browse the contents. Once the cards back in it all works fine, any ideas folks? It's a MY16 build Octavia.

Picked up my standard (well with the spare wheel) Scout three weeks back and the only things that I would have liked would be SmartLink and Xenon headlights, but as mine is a PCH, to pay basically the entire £1K-ish cost spread across my lease term, they were having a giraffe. Hoping the Xenons are standard when I replace in 3.5 years as they are on the Yeti.

First proper snow on Friday night, having picked up my Scout just before Christmas. Driving home from work and just cold heavy rain falling in the city and by the time I exit the motorway 20 miles later the only tarmac I can see is through the sets of tyre tracks along the A road; then a mile from home the road is white and untreated. Pulled into the village and had to wait behind others crawling along in the 5-6 inches that had fallen on our untreated road; then parked as I watched a car being towed up the street by a tractor. Entire journey my Scout (his name is Harald) took it all in it's stride, I stuck with 'Normal' driving mode until the last mile when I switched to 'Offroad' for the mostly uphill windy country road (that was apparently there below a couple of inches of snow). It all made for a very comfortable and calm journey.

Amunsden is standard on the Scout, collected mine on 22/12. Dealer told me that metallic paint is included on PCH if contract is with Volkswagen Finance, I suspect that some may keep this quiet to give the appearance of wiggle room on the price. VW probably want to include this as I imagine a load of non-metallic ex-rentals would be more tricky for them to shift.

Collected last week Scout 150 in Race Blue, standard spec with addition of spare wheel (is it wrong to hope for snow this winter?)

Thanks for that, you're right, it more or less gets added on to the quote 100% over the 42 months. I think you've convinced me to put my sensible hat on. No problem, I thought that's what you meant; you're right I do like the look of the Scout, plus the look was one of the reasons I used to convince my OH it was a good alternative to a Yeti.

I don't think the Octavia Scout comes in L&K, the Octavia does, unless I’m wrong? I'm actually planning on leasing it. I live in a rural location and do a lot of night driving on unlit, windy, slippy, narrow roads, but my budget isn’t endless and the bi-xenons are my only likely extra other than SmartLink.

Just realised how wrong I was and spotted the Intelligent light assistant with high beam control listed under Driver Assistance in the brochure. It's £310 to add to the Scout vs £970 for the Bi-Xenon with AFS, I appreciate that this isn't an either or situation but are they worth that, would anyone else say they wouldn't do without them?

Thanks both so far for your help, although as someone coming from a stock 2010 Fabia the stock new Scout that I took for a test drive feels like driving the Starship Enterprise; a lot of these terms are new to me. So just to clarify the Scout comes with Light Assistant as standard; which will do what is set out here (I know this is for Superb, but it seems to be the same feature): Light Assistant Leaving Home, Coming Home, Tunnel Light and Day Light (lights go on when wipers go on, which would happen automatically as Scout has rain sensor) The Intelligent Light Assist (adjusting between dipped / main beam depending on light levels and oncoming traffic) uses a camera to sense this, but I can’t see the option for this in the brochure, although on the page describing the feature it lists this as an option for the Scout (scratches head). Bi-Xenon headlights with AFS and LED daytime running lights: fancy pants lights that bend into the corner and adjust focus depending on speed (provides both low and high beam). Anyone have the Bi-Xenon with AFS on a Scout, do they dim in the face of oncoming traffic; generally what are they like to have on any car?

Hi all, hoping that someone will be able to clear this up. I had thought that Intelligent Light Assist was standard on the Scout, but according to the brochure spec it isn’t, but optional. However on the Optional Equipment pages the only headlight add-on for the Scout is: ‘Bi-Xenon headlights with AFS and LED daytime running lights’. Am I confused does this optional extra include the Intelligent Light Assist functionality, to me there does seem to be a bit of a crossover in the descriptions of the two. Additionally I took a Scout for a test drive the other day and the headlights were set to ‘Auto’. Thanks in advance. John

This was my thinking when I look at how much my ’10 Fabia 1.6 Diesel has cost me over the last 2 years (depreciation + the big bills that can come in years 4 and 5) and when I calculate a monthly figure from that for about 20% more I could be driving a new Yeti SE L. I’ve never leased before, but for that money I feel I would get the peace of mind that comes with driving a new car; plus much more car (and fancy buttons inside the car)... still mulling it over at the moment.

Ahhh, yes thanks for that reminder re. the maxidot, I had an Octavia with Amundsen a couple of months back as a courtesy car for a couple of days that had it. The use of data doesn't bother me as I use Google maps on my phone when driving on a regular basis at the moment, albeit with the phone in a holder. Thanks for the pointers, will go away and way up the options, looking at a Yeti Outdoor SE L or SE Business I appreciate that this is the Octavia area of the forum but this conversation was on the right subject.

Hi all, I'm currently researching the spec for a near future jump to a new Yeti and I'm weighing up the SE L additional options. If the smartlink works as well as it should am I right in saying that Bolero+DAB+Smartlink would give me everything that the Amundsen upgrade would and more (albeit relying on my mobile phone)? Thanks in advance from a first time poster.
