  1. My car was a stock rather than a new factory build, but paid £500 deposit to secure car then paid the main deposit when I picked it up and signed for it. I'd guess the process is the same for a factory build, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
  2. Mine is hit and miss as well. Amundsen connects to my phone's hotspot, but it's just luck if connect works or not. Once I'm connected, I do get online traffic reports though, regardless of connect working or not.
  3. Thanks for that. I got worried because looking at pics of other Octavias, none of them seem as obvious as on mine.
  4. I noticed this after I picked the car up, but thought that it was normal so didn't question it. It's on both sides of the car at the back behind the door. It looks like it's a panel that is stuck on? Is this normal or is it something that they've left on by accident?
  5. I do love the folding wing mirrors. They don't help me find the car in the zoo car park, when I've inevitably forgotten where I've parked though!
  6. Picked up my new Octavia Estate 1st of Sep. It's a 1.4 TSI SE L, replacing a 2015 1.2 TSI SE hatch. Love the upgrade to the SE L. Lots of new toys to play with and didn't think moving up the 1.4 would make much of a difference, but it is definitely a lot more nippy! Not had LED headlights before. That and the Amundsen are probably my favorite things. Miss the beeps when locking and unlocking though. Not sure why they removed that?
  7. I had a bit more of a read about it yesterday and got a fix as well (working for now anyway!). It's to do with the Access Point Name (APN) settings of the phone. I'm on android so the process is a bit different, but if I take my sim out and put it back in, it asks me to choose the carrier (EE and BT on same network). If I pick EE instead of BT it works without a problem. Try that with the iPhone and see if it works. Have a look at this on the BT site and see if it helps you as well: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/51799/~/how-do-i-manually-set-up-my-mobile-phone-for-mms%3F Let me know if you need any help.
  8. Having a similar issue with a BT mobile and Amundsen. Car sees and connects to the phones WLAN, but says there is no data connection. Did you manage to get a fix for this?
  9. Hi Again! Bought the stock SE L a few weeks ago and it's sat at the dealers ready to pick up on the 1st of September. I asked when the car was built, but the dealer didn't know but he did say that it was an MY18. I had a look at the car last week, but didn't take note of the VIN which would have helped me identify when it was made. I've noticed that there are two manuals for the FL models (02/2017 and 05/2017). Are there any easily spottable things that I can use to tell the difference? Took loads of photos of the outside and inside of car, so can post if it helps! Thanks guys
  10. I'll check when I go in today as I don't know if it's at a port or at another dealer (I know it's not at the current dealer). I'll give it a real good look over when it comes to picking it up. Test driving Kodiaq as well today, so I'll see how it goes!
  11. Thanks guys. Definitely not relying on the salesmen to tell me what a good deal is! Had the current car valued at 3 places and all had the same figure. Had a few Carwow quotes on different builds this weeks and got quotes from the different dealers. This is cheaper by some way than the lowest offer I had for a factory build. Think I'll go for it as can live without the heated front seats and there's lots more gadgets in this one compared to my SE! Just wanted to make sure that there weren't any specific drawbacks to getting the stock car compared to a factory build. Thanks!
  12. Hi ALL, I currently have a 15 plate 1.2 SE Octavia hatch and have a chance to trade it in early (value of car is same as the amount left to pay off). I'm looking to buy a a 1.4 SE L Octavia Estate as the SE L has most of the extras that I would have added to the SE and more. The dealer has offered a good deal on a stock car in the colour that I wanted. The only extra that I would have added to a factory ordered car are heated front seats, but can live without these. My question is, are there any downsides to ordering a stock car?
  13. Shame, I hoped it would work. Maybe it might be added in one of the betas further down the line. Thanks for letting us know.
  14. A few new features announced in iOS 10 for CarPlay: http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/carplay-at-wwdc-rearrange-or-hide-apps-apple-music-makeover-alternate-routing-and-more.1977633/ Would the new feature to show directions in the instrument cluster work in our cars?
  15. I've had the 1.2 TSI since October and it's great for us. We don't do massive miles but can do the odd 200 mile trip and and a 100 mile round trip every other week and it's easily up to the task. We have two kids and both have car seats (both under 2) and always have a big pram in the boot and the car doesn't struggle at all. Has decent power and can easily cruise at 80. I was dubious after reading all the reviews that recommended it, but I was sold when I took it for a test drive.
  16. I can't help with the battery level as mine just works on the iPhone. However, when you press car, you can keep pressing it more than once and it scrolls through the different screens. If you then go back to car it should default to the last screen you left it on.
  17. Hi mate, do you get navigation directions on the maxi-dot display with this?
  18. It's SmartLink on the Skoda's and the usefulness will depend on what car you have. I don't have a nav on mine so using the Maps is great. The voice control works almost perfectly compared to the cars one, which is an absolute disaster. Used Android Auto and Car Play and the car play integration is much better in my opinion. Android is a pain to connect as it always flicks between Android Auto and the less useful Mirrorlink. Car Play just auto loads when you plug the iPhone in which is better. Being able to control Spotify, podcasts its from the screen and ask random questions while driving is great. The other positive of either Android Auto or Car Play is that they are always being updated, so the media system in your car will always be up to date with modern tech rather than outdated like most car systems after a few years.
  19. Sorry to take this slightly off topic, but I don't have the MFSW with mine, however when I get a call it shows the caller on the maxi-dot and I can answer it using the trip computer stalk. Is there way I can get media info on the display as well, or will that only be on cars with the MFSW?
  20. Have you tried it with another iPhone or an android phone to make sure that its working properly? Are you on the latest version of iOS?
  21. I get the message icon pop up when I get a text, but there's no sound alert.
  22. Think there's probably been a bit of confusion, but I want to change the H7 dipped beam (image 244) and not the main beam H15 bulb which has the three prongs. I've changed the bulbs and seemed fine, but I'm worried about the light pattern. Difficult to see in attached photo but doesn't look right. I've probably derailed the thread about the bulbs enough so I'll leave it at that!
  23. So was the dipped headlight like it said in the manual? The way I understood it to be was: You pull down on the light+connector to release then pull out. remove and then pull off the connector. Connect to the new light and then is it just a case of pushing the new light in (flat, tab side up). There aren't any clips or tabs to close? The part I don't understand from the manual is the second to last instruction: Remove the hook in the direction of arrow 3.
