  1. Ok here goes first post on here. A bit of history. I've ran a 2005 VRS 1.8T for the last 2 years. Purchased it from a friend just under 2 years ago when it was at 114k, he had had it converted to run on LPG using a BRC system at 66k. Prior to this the previous owner to him had had the car remapped I'm not sure to what bhp etc but it was more than adequate and it the car ran fine on gas with the remap. Occasionally under hard acceleration the car would cut from gas to petrol but only when it was low on gas and needed a refill. That car is now at 174k and although the engine and turbo are running fine and have never had an issue with the lpg the gearbox is knackered and needs replacing, starter motor also on its last legs I'm told. Every single panel on the car has scracthes, scrapes, dents etc. It needs 4x tyres and all wheels are badly kerbed. Other issues also. Rather than repair the above, I've now purchased another VRS 2003 with 120k on the clock with decent history, cambelt and water pump done at 76k. So far 200 miles in it drives fine. Ok so heres the thing, the guy who has been servicing my lpg every 10-12k for the last 2 years is next week going to take the lpg system off my old one and install it to my recent purchase. £450 including all new pipework. He's been installing them for 30 years so I've no hesitation using him. He says the BRC system is solid and there should be no issues. In his opinion there second only to PRINS. Before he does it next week I'm going to get the oil, filters and gearbox oil all changed. It's got nearly new tyres all round and was tracked yesterday. Basically I want the same setup as I had before. With him converting it to lpg I'll have the same fuel running costs i'm guessing. I do roughly 25-30k per year so it has to be gassed. Failing that I would have bought a diesel and working out the figures it was cheaper to buy another petrol vrs than pay another 2k for a diesel with the same power or less and probably more mileage. The remap is why I am here. I've been told I'm better going for a custom remap rather than an off the shelf one. I just want similar power to my old one which is streets ahead of this one in terms of acceleration. Also was told to have the remap done after its been gassed so that's what I'm doing. Any help / recommendations will be greatly appreciated here. I'm in the North West but willing to travel to get the job done properly. The old car has NGK (can't remember the part number ) plugs in it so I'll get the LPG guy to transfer these over. Anybody know the correct gap on these as I've read something about the coil pack getting damaged if not gapped correctly. Also I'm told my old car has a dump valve with a smaller spring and I'll also need this moving to the new car and the spring cleaning out, is this right? Any advice here greatly appreciated. I've more & more questions re where to purchase a g60 vr6 clutch flywheel etc as the old one one again had that installed prior to me buying it but them now having done 80k i'm guessing buying and installing a new kit is more sensible than removing the old one etc but will pester you all about that and other things at a later date :-)
