  1. I know man... I bought from a garage with about 40 cars and was stupid enough to trust them. Handed them £3,500 for a Cat D :( Maybe and hopefully! Thank you!

Sadly I am trading my VRS into a garage on Friday because it was eating a lot of money and when I was informed it was a Category D and a write off @ 50,000 miles, I didn't feel like putting my pregnant wife and soon new born in it! Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has helped me and it is the best car forum I have been in! Good luck to everyone and their Fabia's and I hope no-one experiences the anger I felt when I found out about the Cat-D. I purchased some brand new Pagid rear discs and pads and wondered if anyone was interested in them? Never been put on, taken out of the bag to check them but never had time to put them on.   4. I have also got this issue as of yesterday. Brand new aux tensioner and belt about 3 weeks ago. Doing my head in, horrible noise.
  5. Hi @Bogwoppit, I have heard of this issue and have never experienced it myself. I purchased a new EGR gasket with the 9mm hole last year but never fitted it. I have driven the car with the original gasket but new EGR valve for around 13 months with no error. If some crap falls onto the gasket (if this is possible?) could that cause the error? I will look into this hopefully at the weekend. Thank you very much! Caleb
  6. I have had 2 new tensioner arms in the last 10 months. The first one didn't even last 8 months and cut 2 belts but the second one seems to be ok so far (but has only been on a few months.) In my old job I worked around 1.5 hours away so I couldn't afford the time to change mine, I got a garage to complete the work. I agree with @sepulchrave it would appear the tensioner arm might be shot. If you are gonna go to a garage just make sure you get warranty for the work, as mine cut the belt with no squeaking or anything. I also have a 2006 VRS.
  7. This fault will not go away, EGR valve is clean and garage has confirmed it is functioning as it should. I was thinking about changing all of the vacuum lines as the error lists as "Insufficient Flow". Would appear the fault takes longer to appear when I am driving the car hard, took over 40 miles to come on when I was late and rushing, but 10-12 miles when driving @ 30mph and around town. Could this be a vacuum leak? Thank you, Caleb
  8. Apologies, I misunderstood you. It is created by Litens and then it is rebranded across several companies, the one that is being used for Skoda is Gates, specific model: Gates DriveAlign. Gates have accepted the warranty case, I have spoken to both Gates and Litens about this.
  9. Manufacturer themselves, I had sent them pictures of the part and they have said I am due a refund under warranty. I can appreciate there are procedures.

Manufacturer emailed me a few days ago and have said I am covered by warranty now (wonder who got their ass kicked) so I am sending the part off through Formula 1 garage and hopefully I will get a refund on the part at least! So if you want something done just keep moaning at the right people until it gets done!
  11. Garage has cleaned the valve, is spotless now. Fault keeps appearing every 20-30 miles. Car is performing amazingly (suppose EGR needed to be cleaned anyway), have seen Ford have had a similar issue to this and it is due to connecting pipes to the EGR. But as far as I am aware the only two pipes to EGR are the vacuum pipe (which is newly replaced silicon around 2 months ago) and the air intake pipe below. Anyone got any more ideas please?   13. EGR has been cleaned, garage didn't know how the car started let alone ran! I have only had the new EGR valve in for around 16 months, I have read somewhere on here that the EGR should be cleaned every 30,000. Does anyone have any guidelines which they clean the valve by? As usual, cheers for all your help and advice guys!
  14. The manufacturer said they could not offer refunds, only the garage/dealer could. It is an independent garage that mainly support fleets and does private jobs rarely on the side. When I rung Formula 1 Autocentre (where I got the job done the second time) they said most jobs should have a 12 month warranty and there job did so I can rest easy about that now. However, both the dealer and garage only offer 3 months warranty. Thank you very much, I didn't think of that, I will try!
  15. Cleaned the EGR valve and it took a lot longer for the EML to come back on but it still did sadly so it is with a garage today getting cleaned out so I will update with the results of garage cleaning EGR
  16. Fitted the fix in the picture above and blasted it for a few miles, no issues whatsoever! Gonna complete this fix on the rest of the pipes and hopefully remove all boost leaks!
  17. Fixed the issue by getting another tensioner put in by a more reputable garage, now has a 12 month warranty, bit annoying but problem is solved now. Spoke to the manufacturer extensively and sent them some pictures of the part and their conclusion is the part was ill fitted. They have suggested I take them down the legal route but for such a small amount of money, it is not worth it. Problem solved now anyway!
  18. Hi guys, I am in a strange situation atm. I had my aux belt tensioner and belt replaced on 31/08/2016 and the tensioner fell off yesterday, 31/05/2017. It looked like the bolt had fallen out and nothing else. So I assumed there was some form of warranty with this work, I've got the receipt but it didn't mention the warranty. I've got the car recovered to the original garage and they have had a look at the tensioner and said it is completely broken and I need a new one. Now, the part is only covered for 3 months, or so they say, and in total will cost me £40 more than the last repair... They also say I need a new belt but the belt has not frayed or anything like that, to be expected as it has only driven ~4,000 miles since this repair! I have spoken to a few other garages and they say work like this is normally covered by a 12 month warranty and is very unusual a tensioner should break so quickly. I think the garage did not tighten the bolt up enough and are too embarrassed to accept/fix it so are charging my over the odds. I just wanted to ask you guys if any of you have had any issues with tensioner arms going a lot or bad repairs? Thank you, Caleb

  20. So this morning on the way to work I had heard a wonderful bang and then loss of power... After quickly pulling over and opening the hood up saw the boost pipes had popped off. Put them back together and basically the C clips are just there for decoration at the minute, got no strength left in them. I was planning on going for the solution in the uploaded image for now, anyone had any experience with this solution? Cheers, Caleb
  21. Thanks for replying mate. I was thinking of trying that today. Rung the garage that fitted new one and they would clean for £60 and if it was broken, replace it free of charge. Any tips on cleaning it? Thanks, Caleb
  22. Hi everyone, Hoping someone here can shed some light on this issue I am having. Last Jan I got a new EGR valve fitted into my VRS to try and resolve an EGR light. It turned out that EGR light was due to a dodgy wire. This has now been resolved and although I was a bit annoyed at the extra cost of a new EGR valve, I thought it was something I didn't have to worry about for the foreseeable future... How wrong I was. Around 2 weeks ago I got this error thrown at me: "19586 - EGR System: Regulation Range Exceeded P3130 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent". I have done some reading into this and people have spoke about it being a vacuum leak or the EGR valve is stuck. To try and eliminate this problem I have changed all the vacuum pipes with silicone piping and have clipped the ends to ensure there is a tight air seal. The light is still being thrown up when I clear it, could be 80 miles, could be 20 miles. I really hope it is not another EGR valve, I have spoke to the garage about the work warranty and they have said they will get back to me. Does anyone have any clues for me please? I love this car but do not wanna be changing EGR valve every year or two! Thank you, Caleb
