  1. It’s on eBay at £45 with no interest despite being the cheapest. £30 posted any good? Will have a rummage see if I saved the grommet as well.
  2. If I were you I’d be moving the trailer socket to behind the boot trim, where the trailer control module is positioned but leaving it wired in. If you need one I have the crash beam from when I fitted my towbar.
  3. I’ll second was @Offski said re dropping the sump plug after pumping. Not sure what engine you have, but I have the CFFB engine in both Superb and a 2011 Golf. The Skoda is a bit new to be servicing myself but with the Golf, there is still over a litre of oil that the Pela can’t get. So you need to be dropping and replacing the sump plug anyway.
  4. @trakhat that’s good to know. Finished the wiring last night, and coding this evening on mine. Away this weekend then towing the car trailer and friend’s kit car across Kent next weekend. The relay setup you describe is exactly what the Westfalia kit has between the battery distributor post and the control box behind the NS boot trim. What the control box does with it, or if it just passes through unused I do not know.
  5. I assumed that as Westfalia is OEM for the B7 Passat it would be the same for these. I was very frustrated to find they aren’t. On on the plus side, the boot trim and sill trims are much easier to remove without breaking on this than the Passat!
  6. I have just installed a Westfalia kit into mine, it came with 2 parts, the 13pin CANBUS towbar wiring exc. the charging function (part number 321600300153), and the Optional charging cable (called extension kit part number 300028300113). The 13pin towbar wiring (ie exc. the charging) has fuses in 4, 43, 44, 45. So the fuses are not definite identifier. I have not installed the extension kit for 2 reasons: - it runs down the near side of the car so is a second lot of trim to remove. - the relay control wire crimps to a switch (ignition) 12v. I dont like crimp connectors and haven't investigated if there is a spare spade terminal on a suitable point of the fuse box to use instead. The main feed connects to the m6 battery feed distributor so that isn't a worry.
  7. This might sounds like a silly question, but did you have your seatbelt on? The one time I drove our previous Passat without a seatbelt (was only moving it 100m) I noticed the same.
  8. Could it be something as simple as throttle slightly pressed while doing the adaptation? Might be a daft suggestion as I have never done either of those 2 myself, if so apologies.
  9. When I did mine I just tucked the cable behind the black rubber trim next to the a-pillar trim rather than the trim itself so I wasn’t anywhere near the airbag.
  10. What camera have you got Delboy and is it any good? I’m looking at dash and at the moment and would prefer either a single or linked front and rear cameras rather than just having 2 separate cameras.
  11. Good hope you enjoy it and the engine light isn’t anything serious.
  12. It's a TSI I assume? Sounds like blow by past the rings, or a combination of that plus turbo seals or valve guides worn. Does it smoke on hard acceleration?
  13. @Gizmo I just spotted you are also in Kent so was going to ask why go up to Mansfield, that answers it though!
  14. I have spoken to AWTuning their Sidcup dealer who was very helpful and knowledgable. I'm only umming and aghhing because I have used AMD before and I prefer the concept of a vehicle specific remap on the rolling road, but they are more expensive to start with, and add on the rewind first and it is nearly double the cost.
  15. It depends on the type of remap that you get. Some load a map developed for your engine type onto the car, in the case of Shark Performance the map they load is on the latest pre-fix software version, so if you get a Shark Performance remap the fix will be undone. Others adapt the current map whilst the car is on the rolling road (eg. AMD Tuning), so if the car has had the fix, you will have the fix version remapped. AMD were unable to tell me whether they undo any of the changes implemented by the fix. On the basis that more power = more fuel = more soot this is potentially the worst case for stress on the EGR. I will get our (EA189 fixed) Superb remapped later in the year when I renew my insurance with a different provider who will accept a remap. I have yet to decide whether to have the Shark remap, or to do the Shark rewind then an AMD remap. I have named these companies as they are the 2 I am considering to do mine, not any other reason.
  16. We went over to Wales this weekend in the Superb, 70mph (set on cruise which I have added to maxidot) is about 2130rpm so a bit lower than I thought. The journey up at a 75mph cruise early Saturday saw 46mpg average. 70mph cruise on the way back today saw 54mpg. Both on the computer, will calculate when I refill. Both were pretty clear runs, so I suspect the gearing is hampering the mpg significantly for 5mph to make such a big difference.
  17. Probably a stupid question, but why is that hub a 4bolt arrangement when these use 5bolt wheels?
  18. Got a long drive Saturday and Sunday so I’ll double check, but I’m fairly certain that’s what I remember from because I was surprised it was so high when we first got the car.
  19. I’m not sure about this, at 70mph our Superb is doing 2200rpm. Our previous Passat (manual 170), and current Golf (manual 140) are both doing ~1750rpm at 70mph. I’d have thought the lower revs would give better fuel economy. Unless you are suggesting the Manual Superb is even lower geared and would be doing more than 2200rpm at 70??? Editted to say both Passat & Golf are Bluemotion Tech models.
  20. @snowathlete I managed the first brim-brim fill at the weekend too, 36mpg calculating it, 42mpg on the dash. Our is 2wd 140. For reference our previous 170 2wd Passat averaged mid-40s calculating it.
  21. Paul, If you have no luck closer to home I’m happy to help if you come to me just outside Tonbridge, preferably one evening after 7:30 when the kids are in bed. Haven’t done anything with a Fabia or RNS315 so would need to look into what needs doing first. Hugh
  22. With the benefit of hindsight I agree with that, and dont try to do it on an ipad! In the final few minutes of my hour I did manage to get the pdf service manual (166pages here) to download.
  23. That had crossed my mind too. So I went onto erWin, to save anyone else wasting €8.40 dont bother if you are using an iPad as you cant scroll properly... This is the maintenance table for my Superb (64 plate 2015MY, 2.0Tdi 140 DSG 2wd) on the variable schedule. Oil & filter: 2yrs/20,000mls or as vehicle dictates Inspection with expanded scope: 2yrs/40,000mls Dust and pollen filter: 2yrs/40,000mls Air-filter: 6yrs/60,000mls Fuel filter: 60,000mls Brake fluid: first change at 3yrs, then every 2yrs. DSG oil & filter change: 40,000mls DPF check: 120,000mls Cambelt and water pump: 140,000mls (no time given) Renew emergency battery for alarm system: 6yrs I did not manage to find the details of an “Inspection with expanded scope” probably because I couldn’t scroll.
  24. Firstly a correction to my previous post - module 3 not module 9 is ABS! From my auto scan on a 64 plate superb estate 2.0tdi 140 dsg which accepted the change. Address 03: ABS Brakes (J104) Labels:. 1K0-907-379-60EC1F.clb Part No SW: 1K0 907 379 BM HW: 1K0 907 379 BM Component: ESP MK60EC1 H46 0164 Revision: 00H46001 Coding: 863D6016092400FB611206E890220092A1080021 Shop #: WSC 33361 790 00060 VCID: 7EF3B297E982EEB6F8-802A No fault code found. I have a 2011 Golf which also accepted the change, component on that is MK60EC1 H31 0108 revision 00H31001. Hopefully that some help. Someone on here there is a list of which ABS modules will allow which adaptations/have what capability.
  25. Both XDS and hill hold are in module 9 which is the ABS and both can be enabled via the coding with long code helper. XDS is just an electronic pseudo-diff, it works by braking the spinning wheel so that the standard open diff transfers some power to the other wheel. I don’t know anything about the Halfex system so can’t help how XDS works in conjunction with it.
