  1. Rainmaker I was getting early 30s to gallon in early days but now seem be at the higher end of the 30 mark and soemtimes into 40's depending on the driving I'm doing which generally is commuting and short runs and yes the big unit I was referencing was the size of the car rather than engine - I admire your cheek though Thanks for replies everyone very useful info and much appreciated as sounds like I am having a very similar experience to others which is re-assuring. Cheers
  2. I have now been running my quartz grey 1.4 se dsg hatch for 8 months and though I'd share some comments. Overall I love the car. It is so comfortable to drive and a very smooth auto box. I have only used the manual option once out of curiosity so can't really comment on that, though it worked fine on the one attempt. I find The power is more than adequate for such a big car and I find myself having to reign myself in on the motorways. I love the assisted cruise control and am quite happy fort he car to take over making gear and braking decisions which a lot of my friends find surprising as they say they wouldn't be comfortable with that. Embrace the future say I The mpg seems to be creeping up now after a disappointing start when the engine was wearing in. i do a lot of cross town stop start driving so it is a bit thirsty then but averaged out with motorway runs for such a big unit with an auto gearbox I'm happy enough. People I've had sat in the back can't believe how much room there is so 10/10 for that. I do have some niggles though and would appreciate comments if anyone else has experienced the same: Oil: My previous models/sierra's didn't use a drop. In fact i got very complacent with them and hardly every checked the dip stick. However with the superb it has used about 3/4 of a litre of oil over 6,000 miles. I assume this might be part of the wearing in phase or maybe VW engines of this type do tend to use oil so it's something I'll need to check and top up on a regular basis? Tyre pressure monitor: I'm not convinced this works as when i got the car i set it on the central console. However when i did a manual check recently the pressures had changed. i've since adjusted the pressures and re-set so will keep an eye on it. think it's something I'll mention when it gets serviced. Heave Traffic gearbox/handbrake noise: I've had a few periods where i've been nose to tail for say half an hour and as the time progresses when setting off there is a grinding/creaking noise which I suspect is coming from the auto handbrake function though the other day when stuck on the m67 for half an hour i began to wonder if it was actually from the gearbox. As soon a you get free from the traffic and move on the noise disappears as if the component affected has cooled down. Again i'll mention it when its due for service as not a big deal but wondered if anyone else has experience the same. Rear suspension rattle: Occasionally on the rear drivers side i can hear a rattle when travelling a low speed which seems to me to be coming from the suspension. I checked I had nothing loose in the boot or on the rear seats so pretty sure it is from there. It's not a big issue just a little annoying at times. again something to mention at service time. Paint work - Unfortunately my car gets a lot of tree debris on it, leaves, sap dust etc. On jet washing it a few minor scratches appeared which i suspect were caused by some debris being jettisoned across the paintwork. Again on previous mondeos which had to endure same conditions the paintwork seems to cope ok. I am loath to get a car cover due to faff of taking it off and on and storing it but might have to bite the bullet. A paintwork shop who i asked to try and buff out the scratches said he thought the modern paint were bit soft so prone to scratches, has anyone else experienced similar issues? Smartlink: I have a moto g phone with android auto app on it. I have only got the smart link feature working twice. I was delighted when driving up to Glasgow i had google maps as a sat nav on my screen but it only lasted for 20 mins so the joy was short lived. My usb cable is quite long so thinking of trying a shorter one to see if that helps. Wondered if anyone had got this feature working on a regular basis? So a few niggles but to be honest they're not massive issues and are liveable compared with the overall car experience. So for my 8 month review i'd give the superb a 8/10 cheers Chris
  3. 1.4 tsi dsg in quartz grey picked up today. Looks way better than any online representations. Feels like driving a really luxury motor to me. Can't believe it's actually mine at minute!
  4. Looks mint Leeboy nice touch by the dealer. Glad you've posted pics as i'm getting 1.4 dsg se with zeus wheels and it's hard to find some real life photos and your pics have really boosted my original thougths on the wheels as think they look great. Love the brown really shows up well in your photos. Nice Christmas present to yourself - have a good one.
  5. ahhh the old vat malarkey ok makes sense. That's good re it being the total amount. Cheers for the answers both
  6. Hi I was just checking the pcp finance deals and notice the excess mileage rate has dropped from 7.2p when I got my quote in November to 6p a mile now. Do you think the 6p rate should apply given I won't pick the car up til mid/late January and assume sign the pcp deal formally then. On another matter re the mileage limits - does anyone know if these get checked on an annual basis or is it just when you get to the end of the rental period? I got my quotes based on an up to 10,000 miles p.a mileage total over 42 months so that gives me 35,000 in total so wondered if as long as I don't go over this total amount over the 42 months I should be ok. I ask as some years I may do higher mileage than others so hoping it is just the grand total they look at which gives me some flexibility. Cheers
  7. Frustrating. However if mine is being built week 51 and the lads and lasses are on the Christmas wind down mine might be sat half built for 2 weeks and maybe half arsed built if that's any consulation, as I know how my performance at work will be the week before Christmas. So you might be better off.
  8. To be honest thought as much. Have got zeus wheels ordered for budget reasons so will see how I go with them and maybe upgrade when my tyres need changing if I feel the urge. I'm upgrading from a peugeot 107 so whatever wheels I have are a massive upgrade ☺
  9. Just got a phone call to say my order for a 1.4tsi dsg se hatchback model is locked in to build week 51 14/12 so that's good news as it was the date previously advised, so looks like it isn't going to get put back. I notice on this forum it seem the majority of buyers are getting the higher end specs such as l&k and Business and business L. I've been admiring the pictures posted and comparing them to the SE photos, well ambition model photos at http://www.nettiauto.com/ and just wondered if anyone knew if there was any difference in body shape on these models. The top end models seem to look a bit sharper/sportier which may be down to the colours people have been buying and the larger wheels where as the se/ambition model photos I've been looking at seem to give a slightly more rounded look. I suppose it could just be the angle of the photos. cheers
  10. It's a long story re the 107 - lets say a tight Yorkshireman decided it would be a good idea to try out budget motoring when his lovely comfy Ford Mondeo developed problems in its later life. Two years down the line the same tight Yorkshireman has decided to get his wallet out. So I say I'm not in a rush but really can't bloody wait
  11. Hi - The dealer showed me his list of orders and the various stages of build they were at. It seemed to go from stage 10 build date confirmed to stage 70 shipped/in the uk - can't quite recall exact status definition. Didn't manage to spot what the latest superb order stage was as the list contained all Skoda models. Have to say it was quite a long list so they must be selling a few which with the great finance deals in place I'm not surprised at. Good luck with your order - after reading this thread I am half expecting mine to get delayed tbh, but not in a massive rush as my trusty Peugeot 107 will keep me going until the new year , although my bad back might have a different opinion!
  12. Yes was first question I asked my dealer and he said the euro 6 engines aren't affected otherwise would probably have chosen another make and model
  13. Hi - I ordered a 1.4 SE DSG in Quartz Grey with privacy glass, boot nets and mats and choose the zeus alloys, all of which I hope aren't too off the standard build to cause delays. I ordered on 7th Nov and have been told build date of 14 Dec by dealer with delivery mid to end January 2016. I thought that was bad enough as never ordered a new car before so assumed they were stock piled waiting to be delivered. If I'd gone for a Ford Mondeo or Vauxhall Insignia, Passat etc do you think the same wait times would be in place or is it just a Skoda thing. Have to say think the Superb is a beautiful looking car and can't wait to get my hands on it so think would rather wait then get a Ford or Vauxhall sooner, but even after 3 weeks waiting I am chomping at the bit with frustration.
