Hi,
I'm wondering about replacing the rusty corroded area around my registration plate and have been told by a garage there's no point doing a partial fix with grounding out and fibreglass replacement as it will only wear out and rust badly again after 6 months.
So I've been advised to source a used tailgate. Having put in the car's details into BreakerLink.com I've been directed to a replacement on eBay taking from Chassis VIN no. prefix TMBHJ21Z3B stating it's compatible with mine

Advice required please - should I go ahead and buy this part even though theirs is Petrol 1.4 and mine is a Diesel RS 2.0?
Please forgive any noobie transgressions I make on this forum
