  1. well the time has come to trade the VRS in after just over 4 years of driving tuition it has done well 153000 miles STILL on the original clutch and sailed through both mots without any problems not even had any bushes on it i do hope the new ibiza will be as well built

  3. the other day just after filling my VRS up with diesel my glow plug light started to flash for about 5 mins then stopped and it has not been on since i have not lost any power has anyone had this happen or any ideas what it might have been its a 56 plate vrs with 137000 miles on it and i have just had the injectors resealed as they were leaking into the oil thanks
  4. there is fuel in my oil on a 1.9tdi VRS has anyone else had this and what was it? could it be a seal gone if so where can i get them from thanks richard
  5. problem was a seized exhaust lifter so new camshaft lifters and bearings £600 all fitted and back up and running now that is on a 56 plate with 123000 miles on the clock
  6. hi when replacing the camshaft do you need to use new bolts ?and if so which ones thanks
  7. it sounds that it is missing on one cyilinder but not all the time! some days it wont do it then it will do it for about 5 mins then clear its self and not do it again for a few weeks then it happens again it does it when hot and cold as well it is usually running all day as i am a instructor so do about 800+ miles a week now if the lifter is breaking up would it not do it all the time? i have just had a oil change done as a precaution and it has always had vw505.01 spec oil in it at service and has been serviced every 10k when it is not sounding like it is missing it is running fine with no loss of power so i am stumped does any one know what else it might be or what to check as dont want to start ripping the cam shafts out if it is not them also do haynes do a book for the vrs? my engine code is BLT many thanks in advance richard
  8. hi has anyone used any oil addatives to free a sticking hyy lifter on a vrs and if so did it work also where is a good place to get a cam kit from not a performance one as it is a driving school car many thanks richard
  9. a quick update this morning when i started it it was still making the loud tapping noise but after about 5 mins driving it stopped doing it but to be on the safe side i had a oil change done and it was fine until later today when my pupil had got out the car and i started it up it started tapping again but after another 5 mins it stopped and now it is running fine has anyone got a idea what it might be i have had no warning lights on and the power is still there any help would be gratefull thanks
  10. i have a VRS and the other week after a service the next morning there was a loud tapping sound from the engine but after about 10 mins it stopped and it has not done it again till tonight i am not getting any warning lights on it just sounds noisy and you can feel a pulsing from the air box any ideas what it might be? thanks
  11. has anyone changed the drivers seat cover themselves is it hard to do and do you need any special tools for the job many thanks Richard
  12. hi all what is the wear limit on the front discs on a 56 plate vrs mine has just done 50k and still on original front pads and discs but i have had the back pads replaced at 40k i am about to change the front pads but don't know weather to replace the discs as well and is there any problems when changing the discs? thanks Richard
