Dear All
Having previously owned a 2011 1.8 tsi scout , I am wary of supporting the marque again - but there seems to be a dearth of good petrol engined second hand Japanese on the market at this time and I may reluctantly have to bite the bullet and go for a 1.5 tsi petrol manual
The problems I have had with the 1.8 tsi were complete replacement of the water pump at approx 47000 miles (costing £450) a new clutch at
55,000 miles (costing £1000) and the never ending worry about potential heavy oil consumption turning into a requirement for new piston rings (know fault on the 1.8tsi’s of this vintage)
So before biting the bullet can anyone out there give any reassurance that a) the water pump issue is dead and buried and b) timing belt changes are not hideously expensive nor needed every 10 seconds ......and any other pointers/info gratefully received
Best
