  1. As others have said, it doesn't complete regen if left sitting at idle. Just let it do it's thing and act as the manual states if you get the DFP warning light. I've done 10k in mine now, never had the DPF light come on and have been in heavy traffic. In actual fact I've not noticed one in weeks even though I sit in the M25 car park regularly on the journey home For what it's worth without starting a fuel argument I have used vPower diesel religiously for the last 2 months.
  2. In real heavy stop start traffic I can see as low as 32 in a TDI. This sort of constant traffic conditions doesn't do the DPF and consequently fuel consumption any good. My current route to work of 18 miles I can see 57MPG but put an active regen in that journey with the same conditions because it needs one and 46 no problem
  3. My GAP insurance cost £150 and that also covered the deposit upto about £2000 of which mine was £1600. A no brainer for the piece of mind.
  4. Have always started every car with clutch and brake pedal depresed and always parked up with the car in gear. 27 years of driving everything from Mini's to Range Rovers from Tuned hot hatches to a motorbike. Never lost a clutch. None of these have had uprated clutches mind you. But it is a habit now I guess.
  5. PCH The M135i are on very good deals, seen £350 with 15K. Audi TT, 1.8TSFI cheaper. Golf R about the same I got a vRS TDI with 12K including maintenance and servicing for £274 per/Month
  6. As others have said: Idling won't help a regen, the engine needs to be under load. Don't worry about it till the light comes on, I think it is every 600miles an active regen happens. I'm on 6.5K now after 6 months and see some heavy start/stop traffic and have seen as low as 30MPG on a 20mile trip. I do a long 100mile trip prob every 6 weeks and I haven't had the light come on once. I would prob think twice about buying another desiel at current driving routine but all in, I am not worrying or ready to get rid of it yet. But the car does seem to deal with it quite well (better than some other makes from what I've read) . Just enjoy it.
  7. Bought a Skoda vRS Octy because it was the best my choices, it is a big car for the money. my smallest car since 1994 has been a Volvo v40 T4. The main trouble is I've hired a lot of decent cars so got a bit spoilt. Plus I do actually like it. Sciroco but bit expensive with options The volvo V40 would of been an option if I could of got a T3 R-Design for the same sort of per/month cost. A3 options expensive. S-Line range a bit too stiff. The BMW 1 series but options were expensive. Will I get another Skoda, in 2.5 years we will see, if I don't like the Octy or no sporty version at the time probably not.
  8. Must admit the Kessy is handy, keeps that dangerous key in the pocket :-) . Seems to be as you get holder you need to see where holes are more and more :peek:
  9. I'd guess as a Microphone too. I think the climate control sensor is by the Temp controls
  10. Very true. Years ago I used to turm ny old range rover mixture down a bit before going in the testing station and put it back after the MOT. The mixture screws had no anti-tamper protection.
  11. Removing the DPF is not allowed I thought if the car was designed to have one or is it limited to cars built after certain date?? https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/apr/17/diesel-particulate-filter-removal-air-pollution-department-for-transport If so you could replace the unit with an empty can, as long as it looks like a DPF and their are no emmisions issues the MOT stations may be none the wiser.
  12. Had to reboot mine a few times at approx 1K not needed a reboot since, now at 6.5K.
  13. Here too, they look to korean, Hasn't got that german quality look and I don't think it will be as agressive front like the current vRS.
  14. Yep, here too. If I keep at steady 70MPH I can get 56 if lucky. I don't think I had an average on a journey yet better than 57MPG. I'm hoping with another 25K the car will be better, just in time to give it back to VWFS :-) .
  15. Recenlty being seeing 56MPG on a like wise time and that average speed on urban/extra urban diving I struggled to see that on a motorway at 70MPH before now. I have for the last 2 months run my manual vRS in Sport Mode, filled up with (don't inten to start any fuel/placebo arguments) Shell vPower. Have also changed driving sytyle recently as looking to take the Advanced test and that has helped a bit too i.e. use of clutch/brakes, acceleration and even steering method. Overall in 6K since new I am 43MPG over 660 Litres of fuel. A few longish trips but still over 70% stop/start to be honest.
  16. I got PCH but with both Servicing and Maintenance the only major things not covered (supposedly) are Tyres, Windscreen and potential DPF issues.
  17. I think you may of noticed a camera on that road, I can only think of by the Cat & Fiddle pub where they would have one, think I remember my friend who lives in Buxton saying they use helicopters sometimes but maybe only when they have a season with a lot of motorbikes though. I'm always a bit scared of something in the post if I have a moment of enjoyment though .
  18. I do like the low profile backet of the camera, is that suction pad or adhesive??
  19. The same issue with the Fabia, did that turn to a TDI DSG only version?? Prob no Skoda option for me next time either. Is this a ploy of the VW group to favour the other of its stable mates???
  20. The full size wheel does indeed stick out approx. an inch (in my vRS Hatch). I found a new full size wheel on a dealer web site but it was the last one. There was no way I was going to rely on the goo that's for sure.
  21. Tried the TomTom Speed Camera app on way home. In a average speed zone it even told me what my Average speed was going to delve in a bit more research with this one. If I go for a system which uses PocketGPS data I could then use the Amunsden option as well so something to bear in mind.
  22. Loving the comments, keep them coming. I can see 54MPG on a single 18mile journey to work and that is mostly 40MPH zones. On journey home it is more like 45MPG IF I'm lucky due to traffic and this is 50% 40 and 70MPH roads. Totaling all the mileage up since bought the car on a spread sheet rather than using the inbuilt computer which is about 2MPG out by the looks of it. I didn't get the vRS to be economical by any shot but I've seen so many high MPG's reported jus had too ask the question. But defo true that stop start traffic is not good for the DPF or Fuel consumption, I used to be lucky and see 34MPG on a certain route home that's not much different from the V8 Range Rover I used to own.
  23. So I saw the similar thread and thought what a good idea. This is a regular 55MPG over a tank full not on one journey or special circumstance by the way. I've over 20 fills now and I have about 42MPG calculated manually. This is 90% Stop/Start or urban with the occasional 100+ mile trip mixed on Motorway and open A road.
  24. Yes, this is correct. It is a bit arkward but you need to swap screens to enter the space You can pay £100,000 plus for a car that has poor built in sat nav or jus use your phone  . And I have tried Volvos, Peoguet, Merc, Audi, Lexus, Ford etc.... Also I don't agree with SAT NAV being dangerous, they are guidance only and sorry if that seems a bit harsh but I have seen this as a warning on may a screen when started up (prob merc).
  25. Must admit Not had a problem with my 2016 Amunsden, I used it daily for 2-3 months when I started driving to work and occasionmally now if there are traffic problems en route, I use it most times I go on Holiday and it has not faulted. Have you tried an software update on the unit to see if that fixes??? Check with a dealer if unsure to make sure you download the correct software for the unit
