I hate to say it, but from personal experience that brand of coil will be more hassle than they're worth.

Depends on weather it's got Air Con or not. It's either hidden in the middle of the dash or under the scuttle panel. With AC HBY1homV.pdf Without HBJK86ss.pdf Gray

Skoda Assist Call Out Record...
Big Gray replied to Evil Miyagi's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
200 miles :o Jeezus wept. Surely there must be bits of them fouling up the valve train now? I assume it's cylinder 3 or 4 again? Gray -
I get this every now and again on mine if I try starting it D, not park or neutral. Or if i'm too quick putting it in D after starting the engine. Gray

With regards to the piston ring/oil consumption problem on these engine. The cause is nothing to do with the design or fit or how the compression rings work. The problem lies in the oil scraper ring, the problem being that they do a poor job, leaving too much oil, allowing it to get into the combustion chamber. Some my be aware of a factory modification on them for certain engines. This is from an Italian vw forum . 03C 198 151 M The old one >>09.01.2012 Composto da: Segmento Sup. 76,5x1,2 Segmento Inf. 76,5x1,2 Anello Raschiaolio 76,5X1,9 03C 198 151 Q New one from 10.01.2012>> Composto da: Segmento Sup. 76,5x1,2 Segmento Inf. 76,5x1,2 Anello Raschiaolio 76,5X2 Notice that the scraper ring is increased of 0.1mm Seems to have fixed the issue in some, others with no joy, But that is most likely down to the dealers not honing the bores before fitting! Fabia vRS Air delivery system data.
Big Gray replied to Jabozuma's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Not too sure that's right the 2.6bar (I'd be worried if it is). By my reckoning it's boosting @ 1.6?. Did you knock the ambient off the actual sensor value? Gray -

No wrapping... Yet... I was planning to wrap the the pipe from the Turbo > Intercooler in this stuff due to it's proximity to the cat, Hopefully that may be able to reduce the heat soak which I'm sure there must be at that distance (I can barely get my fingers between them) and lower the temps a little. It has also crossed my mind to wrap the body of the ITG in it too, I notice from the logs that the temps steadily rise when sat in traffic. Gray -

Big Gray replied to Jabozuma's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Had another look at that today, seems the 40°C appears as a spike after the supercharger has been run, it drops back to about 2°C over the intake temp when running on just the turbo. -

Oops, sorry, read IC as turbo. So sounds about right then. -

Big Gray replied to Jabozuma's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
200°C sounds far too high, I've got some logs from mine and the temp before the turbo was barely hitting 40°C. I'll try and get some more tomorrow, looks like there is a map sensor on the IC pipework before it enters the inlet so there should be a temp to go with it. Gray -
Alternator and electrical systems max load.
Big Gray replied to Jabozuma's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
The alternator on the vrs is a 110 amp unit. As for for load I'm not sure but iirc the electric pas pumps can draw over 50 amps on full lock. Gray -

Got a few pics of the intake and intercooler setup if these are any use. http://db.tt/TntKGXDR http://db.tt/DCzLbhf2 http://db.tt/uxevT5Qw http://db.tt/nShWPeP7 Gray -
The MAP sensors on these engines measure both pressure & temp. And there are a couple of them from what I remember from the measuring blocks. Gray

IIRC the XDS is permanent, is engaged regardless of the TC status. Gray

Yep they'll still fit the fabia, just the newer updated type as you say. Gray

Fuel / Oil Consumption (vRS ONLY)
Big Gray replied to Evil Miyagi's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
No & No here. Try and run it only on v power, only gets 95ron mixed in if I get stuck. Wouldn't class oil consumption as excessive, I reckon it's using shy of 200ml per thousand miles. Gray -
I'll try not to forget this time!
