  1. Hi there, It’s been a long, long time since I’ve been on here and I’ve had a bit of a trip down memory lane this evening! I’m trying to trace down my old car which out of pure interest to see how the old girl is doing now. She was a Fabia vRS MK1 in Lemon Yellow with xenon lights and leather trim! Registration: YD05 FMX I sold her at 36k on the clock to buy a Mazda 3 Sports Aero at the time and I actually sold her to a Bobby down in Birmingham who travelled up to Yorkshire to buy her from me. I had quite a few mods done to her at the time including a stage 1 Remap to 172bhp, Coilovers fitted, Rear anti rollbar, the Octavia disks and pads fitted oh and a green panel air filter. All done by Jabbasport at the time! Anyway, if you know the person who owns her now or you are in fact the person then I would be very pleased to see how my old “Mellow Yellow” is getting on with some pics! Kind regards, Karl
  2. Right... Me and the ex have split up long story short I need to watch what I'm spending car wise etc. I'm downgrading from a Mazda MPS 3 (mk1) because it costs an arm and a leg to run which I will be selling shortly! However I'm looking at a PCP deal over 42 months putting in 4k deposit and paying £190 a month. They have a 0% and 3 years free servicing on at the moment but the only thing they won't let you do is combine the maintence with it. Not that I'm too bothered about it! However I did put a post on here asking about mods before and I can't bloody find it now lol. I'm using an iPhone so if someone can point me in the right direction of searching I'd appreciate it lol. I spoke with vrSY before and he was very helpful. I would like to get the approved lowering springs and the rear arb to sharpen up the handling at bit though because I found it was a bit boat like in the corners. Question is though are the main dealers still able to get the approved 20mm lowering springs and if so can they be fitted in the factory????! I only ask because I'm getting it really highly specced. Literally loaded with kit!!!!!
  3. As the title suggests Reg: YD05 FMX Last I heard it was somewhere in Wales!
  4. That's the best comment relating to this question. With regards to my current mk1 MPS 3 I'm averaging between 27 mpg - 31 mpg from what I've noticed but, the car just gets up to temperature then get's turned off again. On my Monday to Friday 9 till 5 affair I drive about 2 miles with some stopping and starting then about 4 miles motorway journey with speeds ranging due to traffic (M1 heading to Leeds) from 40mph up to 70mph then about two miles the same stop start etc until i get to work then same on the way back home. About an hour or two later just 3 miles A road driving to the gym then same back home again so it doesn't really get chance to warm up in winter. OH!!! I have to use (min) 98Ron so it's ether Shell V-Power or Tesco 99Ron for me (Nothing else).
  5. Oh one thing I forgot to ask is!!! What is all of your average MPG's AND how far do all of you normally go between fill ups at the petrol station?? Also what fuel are your running on... 95Ron 97Ron 99Ron ??? I ask to compare MPG with my current MPS 3. That's the whole point of me looking at the Fabia was for a cheaper car to run lol.
  6. Very interesting reading! Expect a PM tomorrow as ill probably be visiting a dealership V soon!
  7. I'd just like to say a big thank you to all of you that have replied. I honestly wasn't expecting so many replys! I have read everything you have all said and would like to thank vRSy as you have been most informative. Someone or a few of you have mentioned about track days etc and yes this is something I would like to do again as I have been on one in my MPS and I absolutely loved it and will do it again at some point. I'm seriously consider Elvington in August (near York) as I've been round Donnington once now. Hence why I'm keen to make sure the handling is (spot on) regarding the LSD etc as my MPS has one as standard. This will be my everyday runner too so I don't want to go OTT! With mods but I'm very surprised about the performance 0-60 this car can do as standard and modded (that you've all claimed). My MPS by the books says 6.1 to 60 but I've had low 5's with no mods what so ever etc! As for who ever mentioned visiting a chiropractor! Don't buy a mk1 MPS 3 Sports Aero Kit version then because I own one and yes I do have a tight back lol! I did enjoy my mk1 fabia vrs before and had that remapped to 172bhp with upgraded clutch, suspension, bushes, filter, brakes and more but I ultimately wanted more power and a quicker car so I bought what I currently have now but it's costing me too much and I'm on 10k less a year due to change of career. Hence I need a cheaper car to run but diesel wise there's naff all about (newish) that I can afford that's worth while considering. I've looked at the Ibiza 2.0 tdi FR but the interior/cabin is more bland than a No Frills DIY shop! If I had the cash I'd buy a BMW 125d (power, luxury and performance) but I don't have 30k spare lol. Seriously though guys thank you. You've definately pricked my ears up to go for a test drive at the least!
  8. I don't know what Club100 is to be honest!?!? What is it??? As for the extended test drive that's NOT a bad idea at all!!! Think ill deffo look at that. I'm not the type of person you can sell to. I'm very methodical and like to have all the facts and figures in front of me or in the back of my mind prior to actually buying (anything big purchase wise).
  9. I test drove it when it first came out but no the sad sack sales man who generally from my experience no naff! all about cars was sat next to me so I could push it very much. Hence I couldn't get any feel from it really.
  10. Hmmm I've not actually considered that to be honest but it's worth while considering.
  11. As the title suggests! I'm thinking of buying a mk2 Fab vrs. I currently own a Mazda 3 mps mk1 (great car and love it) just very expensive to run. Average 275 miles between fill ups and road tax is soon to go up from £460 to £475 which ill have to pay in October. I'd like a cheaper car to run but don't want to lose out on performance (too much) I've considered everything and from what I can see you get the most bang for your buck from the fab vrs. I had the mk1 fab vrs before tuned and that was nippy as. Question is though what can you do to tune the mk2 and what sorts of price figures am I looking at to get some decent bhp, 0-60, handling and mpg figures? Oh another thing is like to enquire about is the electronic LSD the car comes with. Can it be taken off??? I'd like to put a REAL LSD in the transmission because the ESD's are crap!!!!
  12. If you're gunna go Yellow go LEMON Yellow NOT Sprint as it just a bit if you get me?
  13. Blimey this is the first time I checked this post since actually posting it lol and I'm quite suprised at how many people hav commented on the same experience as me lol.
  14. Littlebull: here thanks Jase but I want one with less mileage so far Johnnys is the front runner
  15. As the title suggests I am on the market for a Fabia vRS mk1. Wish I'd have never sold mine now after the money I put into it but, hey human nature bigger is better (NOT) It must be high spec (meaning) better spec than standard issue and be very well cared for and highly tuned! I obviously thought of Briskoda first as I used to attend Skoda meets in West Yorkshire. PLEASE bare this in mind if you can think of anyone selling the beloved Furby vRS mk1.
  16. Out of curiousity I decided to take the new vRS for a test drive and it took me a while to get used to the automatic driving BUT... my god just about a mile before heading back to the dealership I went to change gear (IN AUTO PILOT) still thinking I was in a manual and what happend when I went to press the clutch ???? Yes I ANKERED on at 60mph ! (I know my fault but FFS ! Skoda why the hell didnt you just make a flippin manual ??? Anybody else had any similar things happen to them ???
  17. Speaking from experience mainly because it's fun and exciting plus you have a unique car. However also speaking from experience when you start modifying your car you open up a whole new tin of worms that presents you with more problems to correct before you can proceed modifiying your ar furher. I modified my Mach 1 Fabia vRS when I had it and learnt alot about tunning and cars in general from it but, it was a much more simple car than the NEW Fabia vRS mach 2 which has this DSG. To me thats going to be a major issue for anyone wanting to tune that car and I think Skoda knew that which will make people think twice about modifying the remapping etc. Fair enough it will be easy enough to change suspension settings and brakes (If required wont know until its launched) but because its a TSI engine your def gunna need a specialist to tune it if the person is determined to do it and I'm sure I know a few that will be. I wanted a more powerful car so thats why I just bought my mach 1 Mazda MPS 3 in White (last 1 in the country in it's colour I will add) at 256 Bhp from stock I dont need anymore power thats plenty on a Front wheel drive car. The Focus RS is only a tenth of a second quicker on paper to 60 (Thats just on paper) in the real world speaking from experience again its not. So there you go people modify cars because the experience is fun and you get a unque car at the end of the day BUT it ends up becoming a money pit eventually because you start small and get bigger.
  18. I wouldn't know about interior tearing because I had full leather seats and door calls ;-P, Plus xenon lights
  19. Just wondering if you guys are still having them ?
  20. Totally agree with that statement ! Being an ex Fabia vRS Mk 1 Owner I honestly think that Skoda have got it so so wrong on styling (No Frills prices that reflect the £2000 cheaper than Polo GTi) I suspect ! The Mk 1 looks far more sporty inside and out and was much better value for money. The Mk 2 might grow on me in time but I will always look at the Mk 1 and remember that as the true vRS rather than this tainted version that IMHO has lost the spirit and soul of the original car that I and so mnay other people love. Infact apart from the much higher running costs Im so glad I bought my Mazda MPS 3 at a bargain of 16k spanking brand new !
  21. Think I'll be hanging on to my MPS 3 then if no oil burner !
  22. Miss all you guys ! The MPS is running fine thank god after all the worries etc the independant review came back with a big OK ! I miss the Furby every now and again when I see one drive passed in Lemon Yellow it brings back good memories of her. a bit gutted on hearing the new vRS will be a 1.4 TSI (Thinking) no thanks after 260 BHP of what Im currently driving but time will tell. Postmanpat if your reading this get the pies ready Im coming to the next Malthouse meet
