  1. I see that you Llanigraham, my Welsh friend, seem to enjoy mocking me by saying that you’ve “read some rubbish on this forum, but this takes the biscuit” You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and fortunately I’ve got broad shoulders, but I fear that the only rubbish here is your own rubbish! My information came from the Skoda UK hierarchy, who held a special series of meetings last week for Skoda salesmen to promote Skoda’s big push to gain a bigger share of the fleet market! Straight from the horse’s mouth rings a bell……… Incidentally, the information about the new name ‘Karoq’ coming from the Alaskan Alutiiq tribe, meaning ‘car’ and ‘arrow’, is that rubbish too Llanigraham? Absolutely NOT my friend. That information is actually written down in black and white in the booklet handed out at the meeting, entitled “Business Driven” . Excuse me if I have a laugh……….Now where is that ‘rubbish’ my friend? The Karoq has a new digital display and 5 engine choices. Now here is some more rubbish for you Llanigraham……Skoda will see five fully electric cars join their range of vehicles by 2025.
  2. What i tried to explain was that the Karoq was meant to be the new Yeti model, and indeed it is, albeit with a new name, the Karoq. If VW hadn't wanted to expand into the lucrative Chinese market, the Karoq would still be called the Yeti.
  3. The new Yeti is coming shortly, but it is no longer called the Yeti, as you know, it is being called the KAROQ. Why the name change? Well it’s entirely political, but the KAROQ is exactly the same as the Yeti, with a few updates obviously. The Yeti has been Skoda’s most popular model ever, and owners VW want to sell even more in other countries. China is a huge untapped market, but under the current model name of ‘Yeti’, Skoda wouldn’t sell very many Yetis in China. Why not? Well China shares its border with Himalayan countries, Nepal and Bhutan among others. The 'Yeti' is said to be found in the Himalayas, but the Bhutanese people and the Chinese people do not like each other, in fact The Kingdom of Bhutan and the People’s Republic of China do not maintain official diplomatic relations. So to expand into the lucrative Chinese market, VW and Skoda had to change the name from Yeti, because their research had told them that the Chinese simply wouldn’t buy a car with the name Yeti, as the name is associated with their neighbour who some would call their ‘enemy’. Hence the new name of Karoq, which is apparently a combination of two words from the language of the Alutiiq tribe from Alaska, ‘car’ and ‘arrow.’ I think I will be having a Karoq when the time comes to replace my 2016 Yeti as the new Kodiaq is a wee bit too big for me. 5. Many thanks to you all for taking the time to answer my question. From what everybody has said, the wind deflectors do work, and on that basis, I will order some today. Thanks guys. John
  6. Has anyone fitted wind deflectors to a Yeti? Are they 'Skoda' or after market, and do they work? Many thanks. John
  7. Living as we do, up on the north east coast, it can get very cold up here, and so the heated seats of my new Yeti SEL, coming next week, will be very welcome to a retired old softie like me. Incidentally, a spare wheel is a must for me, otherwise it means a new tyre every time you use the goo. ...........expensive!!! John
  8. It did indeed, and he felt extremely sheepish afterwards.
  9. Thanks or your comments, and your suggstion, but i was aware of the Eu Directive. The Italian Bull Bar that I posted the link to, is actually covered by the Eu Directive if you read it. Whilst your observations are quite correct concerning the lack of bulls in Britain, there are however a great deal of sheep up here in Northumberland, and one made a huge dent in the front of my pal's Chevy Dayvan.before Christmas! John
  10. I’d be very interested to know if anybody here has fitted a Bull Bar to the front of a Yeti, and if so, where did you get it please? The only one that I can find is in Italy!!! http://www.misutonida.com/yeti/accessories/medium-bar-mark-inox-3090.html Many thanks. John

  13. I take your point Llanigraham. In future, i shall make sure that I include any links with my posts. Sorry! John.
  14. Of course I have evidence! Do you think that I made it up? Read for yourself if you doubt me? http://www.2017suv.net/2018-skoda-yeti-second-generation/ http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/yeti/91163/more-mainstream-design-for-next-skoda-yeti John
  15. it seems the New model Yeti HYBRID will be available from 2018. i definitely want one, but I've just ordered a new Yeti SEL John
  16. i was disappointed to learn that the Boreal wood inserts on the new SEL that I've just ordered, are no longer available as a factory fitted option as ‘illustrated in the brochure. BUT, If anybody is interested, I have finally been told that any Skoda dealer CAN order the Boreal wood inserts for the Yeti as ‘spare parts’, and they cost £119inc VAT supplied as parts, or £264inc VAT supplied and fitted. John

  18. Thanks very much for the welcome, it's much appreciated. Incidentally, do you know for certain that I can get aftermarket wood inserts? Superskoda.com only seem to have wood inserts for LHD models. Many thanks. John
  19. Hello, I’m John, a retired precision engineer from Newcastle Upon Tyne. I am a Motability customer, and on Saturday I have just ordered a new Skoda Yeti SEL, my first Skoda car, but definitely not the last! The quality of build is superb, as is the comfort. The dealer in Cramlington arranged for me to have the test drive for a full day, which was great, and much better than the usual ‘round the block’ test drive. I’ve driven and owned a lot of different cars in my time, but the new Yeti is absolutely superb for my needs. The only disappointment I had when I ordered the Yeti SEL, was to be told that the factory option of ‘Boreal Wood’ inserts (which was in the brochure at £65) is no longer available! I know it’s a personal thing, some don’t like it, but I do, and I was very disappointed to be told it has been taken off the list of options. I am looking forward to driving my Yeti, which should arrive in April. Keep up the good work with the Skoda forum. John
