  1. It depends on what the code is, if its a sensor thats normally associated with the ones that get fooled by the box then it might not come back with a less aggressive profile set on the box. Some have reported that the errors keep coming back. I dont know about driving it to reset it, I dont have any experience. Again if its a serious fault not caused by the box then there could be implications. Someone with more experience will be able to help you there
  2. Youre going to need a fault scan, VCDS, OBD11, friendly garage or grass yourself up to the dealer if you are under warranty.
  3. I discussed this with a guy on one of the Facebook pages. I changed mine to LED and it seems the footwell lights are the only ones monitored by the canbus. I have attached the fix I was told but I havent tried it personally. This is for a FL car
  4. Speak for yourself, comfort mode is very nice and my sport mode is very sporty 🤣
  5. @AJAMESR I traded my last VRS in after just under 3 years and got some equity back for my new VRS. Previously I have jumped out a bit earlier but always aimed to break even. PCP is a strange thing. I was looking to get a qasqai for the wife (her choice not mine!) And the local dealer wanted £24k ish. Final payment after 3 years was around 12k. I found a broker offering the same car for 17.5k, with only a 7k payment. Theoretically you could buy that one and have a £12k car at the end. Sounds too good to be true. However if you hand it back youve paid the same as the £24k car deal anyway! Cars are like a utility bill for me, I pay a monthly fee, it should work and every now and then I have to switch providers. I know Im losing money the whole time, I know the alternatives are driving a car to work that I hate 🤣
  6. Its all about the numbers. On PCP in the past I have traded in a car I own and it has been over the maximum deposit for the car I want. In three separate cases the dealer gave me a cheque back for the difference, I got £2.5k back in my hand for a volvo I traded in against my mk2 Leon. When it comes to your next car you can try and sell your old one private, Im not a fan but Ive done it. Or you can cut your loss and palm it onto one of the car buying places. I currently have an ex PCP that I bought at the end of the term and have 7k tied up in it. The value seems to be going nowhere and I estimate its straight sell value as just under 7.5k, forecourt price for worse is well over 9. I'll be looking to sell it in a few months and if I can get my 7k back I've had a car for free for a few months. Im looking at a lease next anyway so trade in isn't really an option. Lastly, if you are looking at the new Octavia, then I wouldnt worry about 500 quid here and there, the price of the new models are very high. The SE edition, with some extras is over £26k for a manual 1.5tsi. Best discount I've had so far is £2k off that, which makes it more expensive than my DSG 245 VRS was. Also, someone earlier was talking about discounts on cash buys, if you look at the deals the PCP is cheaper on paper because of the interest thats not included on the initial price. The key to getting that discount when buying outright is to take out the finance to get the PCP discount and then pay the finance off at the earliest opportunity! Also, another last thing, I've been the guy who has bought the first version of a new car and sworn I will never do it again. I paid SEAT a handsome price to be an unwilling beta tester on their mk3 leon. Im not doing that again, especially for an SE with the wrong engine and gearbox 🤣
  7. Theres lots of random things seem to come up, some of the things I can think of from memory... some simple some not so simple...most are generic.. Make sure all the vents blow hot and cold air, no odd ones out Check the memory card for the sat navigation is there Listen out for premature failed bearings and suspension top mounts Check rear wash works, they block frequently and headlight washers Check coolant level Keep an eye on the dash when starting for 'error leave selector in P' flashing up momentarily If it has aftermarket LEDs watch for the boot showing open and check what happens when you open the glovebox Go slowly through the revs in sport mode and see if theres a vibration on the fake noise generator Check the DSG going from reverse to D, feel for clunk's and roughness. Might need a DSG service. Make sure all DRLs are lighting up Expect a bit of road noise but check for uneven tyre wear
  8. It was my wife's Fabia that had the crack in one of the posts above. Four years later and all is good still. However ours had zero outside damage, the crack didn't reach the external layer of glass. The one pictured looks like its been crushed from the outside. Fingers crossed for a glass cover replacement, the prognosis to replace ours at cost wasn't good.
  9. Hi Bjorn. I replaced all my interior lights with LED bulbs from Osram on my 2019 VRS. I didnt need to do any coding. I can adjust the footwell lighting to a very low level and I dont have any LEDs glowing when the car is locked. Sounds like this is could be caused by the type of LEDs you have used. The Osram ones fitted easily with no adjustments required.
  10. Might be Internet folklore but the consensus when these boot questions come around is that they put extra pressure on the boot latch, increasing failure rates and they have the potential to twist the hatch and shatter the rear window. No experience of it myself
  11. Had these on 2 successive VRSs, they start out noisy and just get worse. They're about to die so I'll be glad to see the back of them. I've driven back to back on them and the Goodyears and what a difference it makes
  12. Hi! We have had a 16 plate monte carlo 1.2tsi since new, the finance ended first week into lock down and the car has been sat ever since. Weve been sharing my VRS since then and had planned to get a lease of some description once the fabia had gone (was due to go tomorrow!). However, with all the messing round with VWFS we can't get a car we want unless its a factory order so we needed another car in the meantime. Instead of buying someone else's problems I just bought my own instead, and I now own the little fabia for now. Its a great little car and we were sad for it to be going so the reprieve feels OK. Its only got 26k on it and its in top condition so I'm hopeful I won't lose out. Anyway, I'm waffling. Since its mine ot got the full cleaning treatment yesterday which brings me onto the centre caps. They were due to be replaced under warranty before our local dealer went bust and they are in a sorry state. I had 3 sets on my last VRS alone, the current ones are at 18 months and are somehow fine. Anyway the montes caps are absolutely beat and let the car down big style. I've seen people buy non oem replacements and them not fot over on the octavia forums so I wanted to check if anyone has a recommendation of where to get a set from in the correct size? I'm also looking for a gloss black boot/bumper protector for it, its a hatchback variant. Any help gratefully received!!
  13. Road noise reduced and a seat that doesn't squeek, less shiny piano black scratchy panels, some engine/exhaust noise would be nice too. Stop supplying them from new with those awful Bridgestone tyres. Better paint and paint quality control. LEDs inside as standard. Theres loads of things I would like to see changed!
  14. So, eco reduces throttle response and makes the steering lighter. Since you have DSG then it also coasts when you let off the accelerator, which means downhill your mpg average will go up. In real terms it results in what I would call a very soggy throttle, which is great for avoiding over acceleration when maintaining speed but bloody awful for normal driving. In real terms it won't save you any fuel except for some specific driving circumstances like long downhill runs on the motorway for example
  15. I work in a pretty technical job where I train people on unique equipment. The rule is theres no stupid questions, and if you have to ask you're probably not on your own! It isn't self explanatory to be fair!
  16. This is one of the issues you will get when installing the cheaper LEDs in your car. If you go osram you won't have any issues. Ive used them in 2 mk3s so far without any problems
  17. Alex, shouldn't be a problem. Honestly though just go and have a look, you can pull the boot light out with a thumbnail. I have a 2019 and the Osram ones I use are absolutely fine.
  18. @Mister Paul I have the Osram ones in mine, been in there for 18 months not had any failures yet. They were in my other VRS for a couple of years before that so seem to be doing well. @Mickvrs220 Herw is a link to a video I made for removing the front lights. There's a video for the rear lights too on the same channel. Its very easy but it did put me off before I tried it Removing front interior light
  19. First thing I did in both of my VRSs. Including boot, interior roof, glove box and footwell lighting. Easy to do and a huge difference from the yellow dull lamps they come with
  20. @Gti Jazz Blue it was turn it off or let the dealer remove the whole dashboard. Told them not to bother and turned it off myself. My last VRS had the same problem but at much higher revs, in my current VRS it was around 3k revs so would constantly buzz.
  21. Mostly comfort mode, dsg sometimes knocked back into S if I have any need to hustle a bit. Sound aktor thing turned off completely as it made a buzzing noise in the dash.
  22. @Happy Driver The reflector part number was 5E0945104A cost less than 13 euros from super skoda. Best of luck with it.
  23. I've replaced one of these before myself. If it goes flat when pushed against the bumper there's one of two problems. The clips on the reflector have snapped, in which case no bother but you will need a new one, they arent expensive and removing the old one is halfway done for you already! You should be able to tell by looking at them, if needs be take the part off completely. The other option is that the retaining parts on the bumper piece are broken, in which case you may need to do some plastic welding or replace. The question is why would either be broken. On my last vrs I nudged a bollard that bent my lower diffuser and smashed the reflector. When removing the diffuser I was able to reach underneath and pop out the reflectors. I did notice some damage to the plastic of the bumper despite it not showing anything from the outside. May be that removing the lower diffuser is in order to check for any unknown damage or signs of poor repair. Best of luck
  24. How about an apron, like a kitchen apron hung over the headrest? We hang our dog seat cover using straps over the VRS headrests no bother as they curve outwards! Or you could use the dog guards and protect the seat under the kid, behind the kid and in front of the kid. The one we use is like a hammock, covers seat, seat base and hangs off the front seats
