Started as a software developer following a BSc Hons Engineering degree from Leeds Uni., then spent 35 years in hi-tech engineering for UK and US companies, finishing as Senior VP of Engineering running Global Software, Hardware and Mechanical Design teams, and our Test Labs. Lived in the US for 4 years, working on ATM (base tech of of ADSL). Came back the UK working on WiFi systems for several years, then worked on massive RAID-based disk storage systems (some of which enabled gene research at Welcombe Labs). Retired blissfully early and then spent  5.5 years travelling with a 5th wheel and Navara V6 pick-up truck, but now moved to Cornwall, and downsized! Have owned or had use of maybe a hundred cars over the years..... Always been a petrol-head!
