  1. No petrol auto I'm afraid, only diesel auto.
  2. I attended the Nottingham Post Motor Show and Autokarna on Sunday at Wollaton Park in Nottingham where several dealers had cars on display, so it was an opportunity to try various makes for size. I fitted well in the Octavia III me being (6ft 1 high) but the Golf Mk 7 was a different story. My head was pressing on the roof lining. When I complained the salesman said "Have you lowered the seat sir" . Well of course I had and then he just walked off. I adjusted the recline and I was so far back that the steering wheel was difficult to reach. So the Golf is not for me in the future. They've ruined it, it's just like the old days when I had to be highly selective which cars I could fit in. Octy III for me in future as the roof height is still generous. Cheers Jonno
  3. Hi littleade 5 days a week it's 10 miles each way to work through built up areas through stop start traffic made more unbearable by tram works between Beeston and Nottingham Weekends it's normally A roads between 12 and 25 miles each way. Then twice a year long journey to the South coast approx. 180 miles then driving around on holiday. So far done 10,000 miles since last July when car was bought new. According to Fuelly.com I'm averaging 33.0 mpg Cheers Jonno
  4. Hi all Apologies if answered elsewhere. Will the new stop/start technology on the Octavia 3 help protect the DPF when the engine is switched off at standstill as no soot is being generated whilst the engine is not running? Do you think that we will suffer from less DPF regenerations as a result thereby negating the major drawback of buying diesel, especially for town driving? I returned to petrol with my present Octavia for this very reason but would like to return to diesel for the economy as I'm being crippled by the fuel bills. Cheers Jonno
  5. How would anyone have the brown - ivory interior? :'( It reminds me of the old Austin Allegro, plus you've got to be 80+ and in the hearing aid beige stage of life to like that one. Jonno
  6. Personally, I've used Auto Glym de-icer in conjunction with a plastic handled rubber blade used for cleaning windows for years and I've never had a problem with stubborn ice. I'm not employed by Auto-Glym or a retailer of their products by the way. Cheers Jonno
  7. Hi Gtewary No, I got nowhere. I rang Skoda UK and was told it won't work for us in the UK. I couldn't be bothered to argue as to why is it in the handbook then? I agree that Tom Tom is more user friendly (and up to date) with regards to being able to update it yourself. The built in Tom Tom Carminat system in my 2010 Laguna was better in many ways as all updates to software and sat nav firmware was done via SD Card over the internet. Jonno
  8. Trying to think logically, when a fuse blows its to protect the circuit, so what has caused the fuse to blow? Call me naive (people probably will ) . Shouldn't the dealer try to diagnose WHY the fuse has blown? On the other hand, it's probably another silly question from me. :sun:
  9. I know with regards to the Columbus when I had my Octavia delivered mid July there was no disc as the factory install the map directly on to the hard drive. The dealer will update the maps as they occur for £49.99 from their "master" disc. Allegedly, physical discs aren't provided anymore with the Columbus. I was under the impression the Amundsen does not have a hard drive so really a physical disc should have been provided? Cheers Jonno
  10. Thanks for your reply. The Ray Girling method requires the original Sat Nav disc which I haven't got as the software came preloaded without a disc and the other method(s) look a right old faff. The handbook appears to say that the necessary software is available on the Skoda site. I think I'll contact Skoda directly and see what they say. Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Cheers Jonno
  11. Hi all I quote from page 31 of the May 2012 Columbus handbook SD destinations By using a web application that can be found on ŠKODA's web site, it is possible to create destinations as visiting cards or pictures. These destinations can then easily be imported via the SD card into the radio navigation system » page 33, Save destination in the destination memory I cannot find this elusive web application, does it actually exist? Cheers Jonno
  12. Hi all See post 102 below: http://www.briskoda....-compatibility/ ICS 4.04 may bring RSAP to the S3? It certainly did to my S2. Cheers Jonno
  13. I've tried electrical tape to hold the rod more flush to the housing and it still rattles over bumps although not as much. It never fails to rattle when I close the drivers door once inside. I suppose a trip to the dealers is in order sometime. Has Techie got any advice? Smithy 961 - It's not obvious how it's attached to the rear parcelshelf. Cheers all Jonno
  14. Hi Do you mean the Maxidot screen? I've never suffered through not seeing the screen even on sunny days. (Which in the UK I know are rare) If you mean the Sat Nav screen, it is an issue we just have to live with and most cars suffer with it up to a point. The only screen that did not suffer this was my former Laguna 3 sat nav screen which was inset into the dash with a cowling over which shielded it from the sun. Cheers Jonno
  15. Hi JonnoVRS Mine rattles when it's up as well although it didn't the very first time I used it. Cheers Jonno
