  1. I thought j1939 was for heavy vehicles and buses? Generaly 250, and 500kbs.
  2. Im thinking it may be posible just to chainge the glass, for one with blind spot angle. I dont see why not. Next time i take my car in for a service ill is the parts department.
  3. I agree entirely, i have missed a few cars even though i turn my head, the car is still obstructed by the B pillar. Its the pits. Some slip roads are the worst for this depending on the entrance angle. Not including somthing as basic as this even though the extra cost is negligible is plain stupid. I would expect this on a A reg fiesta popular, not on a 24k list price octavia.
  4. I have a 2.0d 150, i dont think it has anything to do with how many miles you do. Its dependent on engine power output. I can do 5 slow miles from cold and the engine wont be at 50 deg. My regular drive to work, i get on a duel carrage way after a mile, then 70mph and the cars up to temp in 3 miles. Note this is water temp, it takes far longer to get the oil at 80-90. It heats up even faster if it needs to regen.
  5. Nice video, to be fair i think my 2wd would do this, its new snow, so has decent grip if you keep momentum. I found geting to work ok, with summers on, its the start stop and cornering that are the issues.
  6. This looks like there is very little damage, i did somthing similar a year ago, took them to a wheel referb shop, and i cant tell the difference, only 75 quid. This looks like very little damage done so i think it may be posible to fix with out doing the whole wheel. Important as it may look out of place compared to the others.
  7. I looked into this, it turns out continental make these for the R8 and the big Q7, the fast one. Thay dont sell any tyres for normal cars with foam that is quite disappointing.
  8. Erwin is realy good i downloaded the technical manuals from there, i did not know thay show TPI, so i will be looking this weekend as my car is 3 years old in 6 months.
  9. I think this is done on more expensive cars such as lexus, i have seen a post some where of a lexus with the bumper off and it has sound proofing there.
  10. Michelin tyres are generaly very good i use to run energys on previous cars and there a very good tyre, quiet, and the last ages. My octavia has noisy contis on however i am up to 23k and they still have 4.5mm on the front, i am loathed to get rid early. I drive manly dual carriage way and motorway. I have read the tread pattern on the cross climates tend to fling stones up, one of the many user reviews, i know some one at work who has them on his golf, and says there a quiet, grippy tyre. I dont know how they will wear long term though. I think the goodyear efficient grip is a decent tyre, this will be my next choice.
  11. The car decides when it wants to regen depending on a number of factors, temperature, driving cycle dependent. I dont know if there is a differential pressure sensors across the dpf, thats trigers when it thinks its getting restricted. The only way i can tell the car is doing a regen is if i stop with the car in neutral and the start stop deactivation light is on. The car will be doing 1000rpm. This is not always the case as sometimes when its very cold and i start the car for the first time, say first thing on a morning with the demist and blowers on the car can also rev to 1000rpm, i dont think in this case its regening.
  12. It can vary massively depending on the type of driving. If you do long runs and the engine gets up to temp, i get around 600miles on a tank. Basicaly motorway bashing. If you dont get the engine hot fast enough the car seems to actively regenas expected, this uses alot more fuel, i cant say how many miles to a tank ax the driving is mixed. On the motorway i can get 70mpg, some days driving a few miles only i have seen as low as 40mpg, average mixed commute 58mpg. My car is a 150tdi, and its always used shell vpower or bp ultimate. One other thing when the car was new the fuel economy was a little worce upto about 10k.
  13. I would never have believed it, a seperate cooling loop. Wow it must be more efficient going to all that trouble. I guess it gives a little more control on the charge air temp then as you can control the speed of the pump. May be its emissions driven for cold starts, till the engines hot. Im only speculating however, it has to be more exspensive and less reliable.
  14. Im thinking water cooled with 95 degree weg?. I thought the idea was to cool the charge air as cool as possible. I guess it makes the packaging easier though as you can have the intercooler ant where within reason.
  15. I have basically the same car with the same wheels. Mine is an se business. Mine according to the info in the fuel flap, is max 2.2 to 2.5 bar. When i bought mine it had around 46, i cant remember the exact number, this i think was delivary pressures pre pdi. So the tyres are less prone to flat spots. One thing i do notice at the higher presures is the ride definatly deteriorates, the steering is a tad sharper. It sounds to me this is for a different tyre than tbe 205/55 16inch you have.
  16. Its not a perfect survey but not meaningless. I have driven my fair share of golfs also as hire cars, and thay marginally better than the octavia but thay are not refined, including, 1.9, and 2.0 gtd. I would say the quality is slightly better also.
  17. Its all relative, many people agree the mk2 octavia was a quieter car. That tells you somthing right there. Also it comes to somthing if you need to use noise cancelling to make a car quieter.
  18. Has anyone seen this survey http://elevatingsound.com/the-price-of-quiet-driving/ Basically the octavia is one of the loudest car out there!
  19. Same sort of thing however my car is nearly three years old and im worried in case its an issue out of warranty.
  20. I was looking at the b4 upgrade and came across a this site. http://www.vwgolfmk7problems.uk I know its a gti and its irs but it seams like the same symptoms.
  21. Has any one else had issues with creaking rear suspension? For a few months now i have noticed the rear suspention creaking on un even toad surfaces. I have read a few golf forums and it was a common issue in 2015. And opinions greatly appreciated
  22. That black stuff you have used looks realy good, much better than shiny silver
  23. I used 2mm for tne boot floor and 3mm for the rear arches. Next i may do the bulk head but i am not looking forward to removing the carpet.!
