I'd say 80-90% DNA in common. One of main reasons for going with TT. I was initially opting for 435i for quite a long time, but insides did not convince me, whereas TT was a "wow" thing from start...that steering wheel I'm telling ya! Nice bonus at the end was insurance and taxes that were both just few percent higher than my L&K 1.8 Octy. In case of beemer, despite similar value, assumed expenses came with a punch. Anyways - I can recommend this change for everyone who does not need all that room Octy gives

I consider it a moral and emotional compensation for bleeding eyes I had when I saw what that $#^$#^* (nice person) did to my Octy! Let's hope Skoda will come up with a 310HP+ Superb in 3-door body then I'll be back I gotta say - the FWD 180HP TSI I had in Octy was nice, but 4x4 / 310HP combo is yet nicer

Well, since my wife is having now the "big family machine" I could sneak under the radar with smaller bit...2 door, funky color, a bit more HP...well a bit more than a bit more ;P

I was seeing it occasionally, it was popping in and disappearing after 2-5s. Sometimes happened 2 or 3 times in a row, then few months nothing. Took me a year or so to actually take a photo of it. All in all seems rather benign.

I'm okay - car did it's job very well protecting the soft bit inside. Speed relatively low, and if not for enormous momentum of that truck, the car would go out of it with repairable damage...30t leave no room for negotiations it seems :/ Anyhow - I got seriously ****ed, because that Octy was to me more a friend than a machine...but I'm letting it go and chilling now

Dear Ladies and Gents, I'm leaving the fold with a loud, unintended *bang*. Reason for that sound was a 30t tipper truck (5 axle), driven by a younger fella in a baseball-cap. As such head wear typically implies - that was a typical case of a highly-aware driver. Using his top-notch skills he managed to totally miss a decent sized car in the mysterious realms of dead-angles. That unfortunate being was me and my Octy. I have to admit, the truck driver accuracy was amazing - he managed a very rapid line-change attempt, hitting my car in the exact "sweet spot" - the very center of my left rear wheel. What followed, was a staged 180 spin with me ending in the wrong direction. The result ****ed me off like hell...enough to say - not a single piece on left side was left undamaged. The crash expert used 1.5 A4 pages to list bits that must be replaced / repaired. Seeing welding on this list, L-F and L-R suspension busted, I gave up. Insides still untouched (no bags came off) but outside looked like an old banana - still in shape, but dents everywhere. It's sold and I'm trying to get balance from insurance. To make things spicy the whole clash took place in a crowded tunnel during morning rush-hour; low speed (yay), but no place to move (crap). If it was not for my counter-reaction, the right side or front would probably get similar treatment as left side, but this time from the tunnel wall. To make things yet spicier - it happened less than a week after I spent 4hrs detailing the car...just to see it demolished soon after. I know I was inactive for some time, but now I guess I'll go dormant for longer...that is until I get another Skoda that is Cheers PS: I really do not recommend seeing a truck logo 30cm off ones face...during the drive

My Renault Crapguna took over 2 weeks to fix...waited that long only to get a car that needed a "repair after the repair". I hope your's turns out better!

I had sth similar once with Renault Laguna 2 (yeah, I know, this car is a dumb idea in the first place...) In my case the bumper was actually intact and from 10m distance it was hard to say if something even happened to the car...if not for the windshield. The passenger bag blew it. List of "extras" to be replaced included cooler (yeah, made in big part of plastic, placed in a way that a proper kick can crack it), both headlights (intact but broke the fittings), dash, airbags, 7 (seven) belt tensioners, etc, etc, etc.... The listing was 3 pages A4 paper with approx 8k€ figure at the end! And the crap-of-a-car Renault did look way less damaged than your Octy. The service quality of Renault was just the ising on the cake after that: scratched gauges glass, broken hands-free, cracked paintwork in various spots, main bulbs died within first 100km, etc, etc, etc... The strangest thing in all of it is that I was dumb enough to buy another french car just few years later - Peugeot. Yeah, I'm a slow learner :P

Question is not about the spray type, but the procedure to apply it to get proper effect.

Did anyone try to clean air conditioning / evaporator in Octy III? I have that ugly smell coming out of it after winter (yeah, I used the AC rather seldom this winter). I'm not even asking about the chemicals but rather the exact procedure. From pictures I've seen I assume the evaporator may not be directly accessible from the filter box, or is it?

I'll just say what I said to one other forum member recently: It has some quirks, but overall I'm not disappointed. I got it from a Russian supplier at eBay; not much help from those fellas :/ and I had to solve few puzzles on my own. The resolution is being set with jumper wire. [...] Below you can find some pictures. My case was a complicated one, as I have canton and there is no way to hook it up to speakers (there is an external amp/dsp hanging on optical wire). For that reason I have installed additional speaker (like from old hands-free units) behind the head unit/display. Does the job ok. Note1: there is a vertical shift by few pixels (marked with arrows). It's visible when using iGO 8 as shown. If you use iGO Primo problem is not visible. Note2: when using a different navi system than supplied (I got iGO8 which is a bit rubbish atm), make sure the navigation software is directly in the root folder of the sd card (not in an additional sub-folder). Not obvious and a thing if you ask me; I found by doing persistent trial-errors. In other words it did take me quite a few tries before i got my iGO up and running. Note3: In my case, sometimes when map was switching day/night mode, I was getting error (attahced) and had to reset. I disabled night mode as auto dimming works well in bolero and problem is gone. Btw, resetting is done by long press of the right-lower hardware button of bolero. Note4: on rare occasions the system gets sluggish. Wait, it'll go to normal after 20s or so. Altogether I'm quite happy, resolution is not an issue for me (I do not need to pixel-peep) One last thing to address is the clicking noise from the unit, that I'm hearing sometimes before command is spoken, probably a relay or something. Just my 2 cents to the topic - don't use vinegar, but rather citric acid instead. Some elastomers are damaged by vinegar, while citric acid is rather safe.

Black trim on the grille helps a lot, as the inner lamps seem more "attached".

6'400miles??? And you even ask whether to keep it or not? Unless it's been though some serious problems (spoiler paint is no big deal imo) or is jinxed / cursed, the answer is rather obvious - keep it!

Octy is an absolute beast when you consider inner to outer dimensions ratio; not much smaller than superb's I've had. If those seats don't go to Octy, I'm not sure where else would they fit ;) So far my 2 boys are happily cruising in 2 almost identical front-facing Recaro Monza Nova Isofix 2 seats (ridiculous wide things if you ask me, but kids are happy). Now however, I'm just about to escalate the problem +1; in some 5 months to be more exact. Yep...a Sharan/Alhambra may be called in to assist my little Octy, which may prove, I'm afraid a bit small for a 2+3 "setup" :/

I had that system, and it's not all so sweet; especially if: - you have 2 sets of tyres/wheels (to avoid error splash screen from popping up all the time and the error indication being permanent on, you need 2nd sensor set + programing and that ain't cheap) - you do get a puncture and need to replace the tyre (risk of sensor damage and signal loss if you put the spare on). For the basic task of informing the driver on potential problems, the ABS based solution is doing just fine. Anything else requires direct intervention anyway.

Did anyone try putting a foil on the grille trim? I'm thinking of refreshing the looks of the front a bit and the chrome frame seems a good starting point. I'm not so into plasti-dip, so foil would be my 1st choice. Is it something to consider a DIY thing / does anyone have a positive/negative experience with it?

I know Altea is old and I'm not comparing it with Ateca...simply the point is when I was switching between "old" Skoda Sup and the "old" Seat Altea of a smiliar value, I was rather disappointed if not terrified. The thing handled like a cartload with weird ergonomics/interior to top-up the overall impression. I'm 101% sure new Seats are miles ahead of it...but so is the Skoda - brand made a huge progress last years. Just wondering whether the gap between those brands is closing. Styling is a personal matter again ;)

I drove altea XL...all I can say is that I hope other Seats are not like this and the entire altea XL was just a one-time, big engineering *hiccup* they made by mistake.

I did put more than 50L few times (52 was max iirc), but yeah, that was really a dry tank then ;)
