  1. Beware cause studless tires in the nordics and in center Europe are a bit different. What we have up here in terms of rubber compound and thread patter is different from what most places call "winter tires" and are way more competent, even in extreme conditions. Even though I originally preferred studs, every time I buy a car in Finland it comes with studless tires, which has forced me to drive winter after winter with them... I can say by now I am a convert, and all it took was a bit of adapting of my driving style - only on really icy conditions you will feel a difference, and that is only a few days every winter. What does make a difference is the quality of the studless winter tire you got - I have always had the test winners for that year on my card (currently it is some ContiWinter something or so - I would need to check) and I even have them in 235/35/19 and they work just fine. The whole thing about the width and rally cars having thinner tires is a bit of a myth. I am not sure what type of conditions it would take for a regular car and driver to feel a difference
  2. And sorry, to answer your question, the auto-levelling cannot fix this type of issue - the lights still need to be correctly manually set and the auto-level takes on from there to keep them at the level they were manually set to on a flat ground.
  3. If you have the opportunity to put your car side by side with your friend's and you don't want to over-complicate or overthink this, I would suggest you simply manually adjust the lights to match the alignment on friend's car and just move on with your life ...it will take you around 5 minutes and you don't need to take the car to a dealership where they will likely not set them right anyway. In my current car I complained twice the alignment was off and was told "it is within tolerances", which is a polite way of saying "we did nothing". I just put my car next to another with a known good alignment and fixed it myself. I now feel the lights aim correctly - not too high not too low.
  4. Never heard the Canton system but audiophiles that heard my Seat sound system said it was nearly perfect and to leave it alone. Also, in Seat forums, the audio minded members that have compared Seat sound system with Beats say that the Seat sound system sounds much cleaner. Also, people got hold of part numbers for the speakers and the Beats speakers are some old generic VW stuff that has been on many models. As I said, cannot really comment on the Canton, but I have heard an Alpine full install (headunit, amps and speakers + sub) and the Seat sound system is just as good (yes, I know it sounds exaggerated, but go and listen).
  5. The systems are pretty much the same minus the speakers on the Skoda/Seat, so I am sure most of your previous knowledge will apply here, although I have to say that I had an Octavia with a MIB1 Bolero that sounded horrible and my current Cupra with the Seat sound system is one of the best car sounds I have heard.
  6. Wait a sec - so you get a Cupra R and it only comes with the standard stereo? Pffffff ....I guess you need to replace speakers and add subwoofer. In the other forum there are some people who have retrofitted the Seat sound system. Don't bother with Beats cause it is rubbish and it is worse - Beats system was a cost-cutting solution, so no point retrofitting that. Also, more complicated, since it has a separated amp for the subwoofer.
  7. You have Beats audio? If so... Sorry to hear ...I have the Seat sound system and there is NOTHING I want to change about it.
  8. BTW, @marko join this forum: https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?forums/leon-mk3.309/
  9. You pretty much sum up my exact mindset when I jumped to the Cupra. ...and of course, that testdrive... I was not ready to like it so much. I warmed up to the Cupra more on a 1h test drive than to the Octavia in the entire ownership.
  10. The Superb is a different type of car... Love them, but they are really a motorway cruiser. The Superb is a different type of car... Love them, but they are really a motorway cruiser.
  11. On the Manual vs DSG debacle, I have driven manual cars all my life and am almost anti-automatic but... ...having no other gearbox option for the Cupra Estate 4drive, I went along and... I can say that I have embraced it fully. It has different qualities from a Manual box, but having dealt with tuned cars before and the need to upgrade clutches, everything pointed me to a DSG box being a better option on a car you plan to tune (which I do...)
  12. Having driven it and seen it in action, I think you have a pretty good idea why
  13. Once again, read up - @SashaGrace has already pretty much covered it all and she is a retrofit specialist, I would say
  14. You have been told multiple times in this thread that the screen is just a screen, so... A quick summary for you: - the dealer has no clue what they are talking about: ignore them - there are two components for the entertainment system: the controller (looks like a 1din radio without screen, located in glove compartment) and the screen. - the screen does nothing else than display what the controller sends and send back some button inputs. - you need to pull out the controller (you need some special tools for this) to check the part number You can buy the tools from eBay, Amazon or AliExpress - they are similar to a blade, with a triangular too and they will go on the square holes that are either side of the headunit (controller) to release it so that it can be pulled out. Good luck!
  15. Offset (ET) is one of the key values needed to answer your question.
  16. Speaking of experience, I love the low look, but after having a slammed Saab here in Finland, I wouldn't do it again. - Rubbed everywhere, namely a ramp for the local supermarket parking that forced me to use a back road for the alternative entrance - In winter, with snow, I nicknamed it "the snow plough" and it would literally leave a flat trail as I drove by - it all ended when I hit a chunk of ice that had dropped from a truck that took out the lower splitter, along with the windshield washer tank, hoses, fog lights cabling and the lower part of the bumper. Never again
  17. Your scale is too large - but on a 1 - 5 i would give it a 3. Either way, they got it wrong, it was their mistake... Why not just take it back?
  18. Yeah, we have a Seat Ibiza FR manual with the same engine and I have not seen any of the behaviours people report, neither has my wife (whose car it is and who drives it often)
  19. Actually, I tried to fit them to my Cupra and ran into a similar problem. On the first try there just doesn't seem any way they would go in. I am now armed with some instructions with pictures and next time I have access to a lift I am going to give it another try. RS3 has a different subframe, so it might be the ARBs are also a bit different.
  20. Problem will always be the beam light pattern, which will be scattered and blinding the other drivers. Only on a lens setup you can somehow control that and even then the light spread might be wrong.
  21. I have that screen in my car... Ask me how many times I have used it except to show to passengers "oh, and it also has this screen" Honestly, when you are driving fast and accelerating hard, are you going to take your eyes from the road and go "let me just check for a sec what pressure I have on the Turbo right now..." or "this corner looks fun... Let's look at the g-force while I push the car to the limit through it."
  22. So, my first video from the ice track is up - hope to have a steady stream coming in the nearest times Day 2 is better, but I am starting with the Day 1 videos - there will be some footage following @Petunet and a big thanks to @brettikivi for the brilliant organization and the invite to participate ...next year there is more and you guys should join - there was a FWD petrol VRS in there, which can actually be seen stopped to assist (black car) on this video. Sorry for it not being a Skoda, but there will be some Skoda goodness in later videos - I promise to use the same thread to show @Petunet car
  23. Don't all German language navigators lead to Poland?? Vitsi, vitsi
  24. FYI, they have later released a compiled version for one of the packages that includes all the maps like before - I am using it on my Seat and it works fine. I think I downloaded it from the VW portal, but I am not sure...
  25. I was in the exact same situation with a Saab many years ago. Cost me a LOT of money to rectify. Hope you are more lucky :(
