  1. Hi my 2013 Octavia 2.0 TDI engine code CKFC had a leaking water pump which we replaced. However after fitting the new pump it kept overheating and after trial and error we took the new pump out to find that the impeller had cracked. We ordered another pump and fitted it, it slipped into the block nicely and we did the bolts up with no resistance however when we tried to manually turn the pump to ensure it was free it wouldn't turn. We undid the bolts and removed it, only to find that that impeller was now also cracked. We have checked that it is the correct pump and compared it with the original one and all seems to be fine. We can't see anything in the whole that would cause the impeller to bottom out and crack when tightened but we can't see anything that would cause it. We have read the manual and it doesn't describe any special way to install it. Does anybody know where we may be going wrong please?
  2. Hi Freedom I like your comment about us being a modern garage and all that. Seriously though, despite the fact that I personally see this as a waste of time, the boss is adamant that he wants it done. I am pretty adept at obtaining parts for older vehicles, I'm also very pragmatic and don't like to use the word 'can't'. In addition to having the Skoda franchise we have been here since 1945 and being in the middle of the New Forest we get presented with all sorts of old vehicles to sort out in one way or another. However the only other vehicle we have completely restored is a 1973 Mini Clubman and you can still source every single part ever made for that. So thanks for your suggestions regarding the various parts I need, but to be fair you've only answered the easy ones and despite me posting it I pretty much knew the answers to the brake and exhaust problems, I was simply highlighting the extent of the problem. What I could really do with finding out is where on earth do I get a water pump and all the trims for example. I bet there's is no one in the UK but I'd love to be proven wrong. Cheers.
  3. Hi Colin Thanks for your reply. I don't understand what you mean though. 1/ Who are the Skoda restoration team? 2/ What do you mean when you say 'most appear'? 3/ Where about in CZ would I be able to obtain the parts I need? 4/ Also Who has a lovely model, do you mean the restoration team? I'll post some pictures as soon as I work out how to do it!
  4. Hi I am new to this forum and I was wondering if anybody could help. I am the After Sales manager at Meadens Skoda, based in Hampshire, England. We have recently acquired a 1970 1.2 Octavia Combi Estate right hand drive and it is need of restoration. However I have no idea where to obtain any of the parts we require. To begin with we need front and rear brake shoes, wheel cylinders and brake adjusters, flexible brake pipes, complete exhaust, steering idler, drive shaft gaiters, water pump, chrome trims, door trims and lots of other stuff. Basically it is a wreck but the boss wants it restored! So my question is where on earth would I find any of the parts I require? Would it be case of finding someone in the Czech Republic that would know, or is there a place somewhere in the UK. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards. Gary
