  1. Hi clarendon462. Not sure if warning light and sound was only fitted in Eelegance, but maybe there's a chance yours been disconnected (if the car was purchased second hand). When I boughmine I noticed that the warning light doesn't light up and there's no warning sound if I leave drivers door open. I assume those are either disconnected or some switch is broken. I wouldn't mind if all doors where like this in this case
  2. Hi guys. I own a 2001 Fabia MK1 estate 1.9 TDi. It's quite old but I simply love it. Recently I started having this issue with the warning light on the dashboard that the door is open is always on. I managed to figure out that this is caused by the rear passenger's door. If I open and close it multiple times the light goes off but after some time it lights up again and the beep sound is heard reminding me that the door is opened (though it's closed). I really hate when this happens. Now, I have looked through many posts on the web about different VAG cars having similar problems so it's not that uncommon. As most solutions to this problem comes to taking the door apart and either replacing or fixing door latch mechanism (not sure how it is called) I figured: 1. I don't really want to take anything apart; 2. I use this car for work, driving alone and carrying boxes most of the time. I know it's useful to know if all doors are shut before driving if you're taking kids, dog with you etc. but as this car is used strictly for work I don't worry about that too much (though I always check if all doors are closed). And here it all comes to my question: Maybe some of you know how to (in a not too difficult way) disable this 'open door warning' on preferably all doors? Maybe there's a fuse that can be removed? A switch that can be turned off ? I know this sounds stupid but maybe that is one way to solve this annoying problem. Looking forward to your reply.
  3. Hey guys. Thank you for your prompt replies. I'm kinda glad to hear that it's a common problem... meaning it can be solved  It's a bit cold outside where I am and my garage is too small to do such things comfortably so I'll have to wait for better weather and will start fixing. Thanks!
  4. Hi everyone. So I noticed this strange thing with my Fabia (2001) the other day. This mainly happens during longer trips. If I set and leave the temperature to, let's say, 26 and continue with my trip, at some point the heater starts blowing a very hot air. Turning the handle to 18 or even all the way down doesn't change anything, it still keeps blowing hot. I'm then forced to turn off the heater as it becomes very hot in the car (however even after turning it off I can still feel hot air coming in through the vents, only weaker). After some five minutes (and leaving the switch on lowest temperature) I turn the heater on and it starts blowing cold. If I try to adjust the temperature to a little warmer it sometimes blows cold, sometimes hot. This morning, when the heater started blowing very hot air I tried setting the switch to lowest temp. and switching on AC. It worked for the first time. Later I tried doing it again and it didn't work. What should I start with when looking for solution? And yes, being too optimistic I figured that I might be able to get some info by scanning BCM faults with OBD-II scanner but had no luck....
  5. Well, I had most mechanical bits looked at at my friends workshop. It seems like everything's in order I noticed that the heating on drivers seat doesn't work (it works on passengers seat) so I'll go and have a look if all is connected correctly under the seat. bmjb99, I too hope it'll give me many happy journeys  Thanks guys for your responses!
  6. Yours looks great! I love the roof and the grill
  7. Hey guys, thanks for your opinion on this. So I went and got myself the first one. Yup, it is the oldest (2001) one from the bunch, but honestly looks the most looked after from all the Fabias (even newer ones) I've seen lately. The interior looks really good, not too worn out. Some issues with the electric window of passenger's side but that can be fixed. Not sure about the (quite) low mileage for such an old car as these things can be cheated but well..... we'll see. I'm going to see my buddy next week who works at the automotive service to have the oil, filter etc changed and see what he thinks about the engine. It's my first diesel so I'll have to gets used to it, especially being quite noisy. I already got laughed at (in a friendly way) by friend and wife for getting an retired man's car, but I really like this small estate. I was looking for something to drive for the next few years, something practical, economical and cheap. Something to replace the Renault Laguna Estate (2006) I've been driving lately (this thing's really thirsty for petrol...). I hope I made the right choice. And yes, it's Elegance by the way Thanks again!
  8. Hi guys. I'm new to this forum so you'll have to excuse me for a long post... I'm looking to buy a used Fabia estate MK1, preferably 1.9TDI variant. Now, I'm looking at something between 2000€ and 3000€ (I'm in Lithuania). I came across few adverts on the internet and I think I'll go and look at some of these cars this weekend. http://auto.plius.lt/skelbimai/skoda-fabia-1-9-l-universalas-2001-dyzelinas-4589554.html http://auto.plius.lt/skelbimai/skoda-fabia-1-9-l-universalas-2007-dyzelinas-4565797.html http://auto.plius.lt/skelbimai/skoda-fabia-1-9-l-universalas-2006-dyzelinas-4472765.html All these adverts are in Lithuanian (I'm sorry for that) Anyway, I really like the first one because at least in pictures and on paper it looks great. It's a bit old compared to other two but has a decent mileage (those numbers are in KM). What caught my eye is that it doesn't have a Fabia badge on the back hood. Could this indicate that it could have been involved in an accident after which the back hood was repaired, repainted etc.? The question might sound stupid but still.. Also, do you think it's a Comfort or Classic. And the advert also says that it has back parking sensors but I don't see anything like that in pictures... Could you suggest me anything. Maybe there's something I should pay attention to when going to check these cars in person? Thanks in advance.
