  1. Saw a black edition recently. I like those but they wanted 8k for it with around 30k on the clock. Was over budget for me but now I've bought what looks like a corker. Red with 10k on clock. heated seats too which I didn't know they had. Really looking forward to being a skoda owner
  2. thank you for the replies folks, i was surprised about the powdery build up on the engines as they were aklfautky new cars. If it's something you owners have I won't worry about it. I'm sure it can be cleaned off if I chose. I'm viewing a 2012 Monte Carlo this week at a dealership. It's done 10k since new which is really low. I'm hoping for it to be in great condition and it has a 12 month warrantee. Whilst I view it is there anything specific to watch out for? You mention timing chain issues, will that be on previous models? Phil
  3. Hi folks, thank you for the replies. I'm going to view a 12 plate Monte Carlo at weekend. It's only done 10k since new so hoping its immaculate. Purchasing from a dealer so will get any warrantee as peace of mind. Yea the corrosion on the engines I saw was unexpected. Especially as they are all fairly new cars. It's more of a powdery build up than rust. I take it it's something you owners also have? Also any specifics of things to look for whilst I view the car? The cam chain issue mentioned, is that on earlier models? Phil
  4. Hello folks. I'm in the market for a new car. I'm heading down the route of a mk2 monte. I've never owned a skoda before but I'm Sure I'm in good hands. I'm looking at 62,63 reg cars with around 25k on the clock. Ideally 1.2 tsi 85 or 105. On buying one what should I be wary about. Is there anything I should ensure is OK prior to parting with my cash? Also of the 3 cars I've viewed, I noticed that the engines all seem a little corroded on the blocks and other areas around the engine. Is this normal on Fabias? It's seems common in the 3 I've viewed. I'm buying from the midlands so they aren't near coastal winds, waves etc which can cause this corrosion. Should I be worried about it or ignore it? Any other info would've nice. Phil
  5. Hi all. In the market for a 1.2tsi Fabia Monte Carlo 85 or 105. I'm looking at the 12, 62, 63 reg cars with around 25k on the clock. Been to view a couple and enjoyed the drive. However I noticed in all of the engines there seems to be corrosion on the screws, engine block etc. I saw it on 3 different Fabias. Is this normal as they are only a few years old, also should I be worried? Any other buying advice or things to watch out for would be helpful as I've never owned a skoda before.
  6. Hi all. Phil from Coventry here. In the process of getting my first skoda. After a Fabia Monte Carlo at the minute, hope tone able to contribute to the forum in due course.
