  1. Final update (I hope!)..... I've had the car back for a little over the week and the fault has disappeared...Perhaps the mechanics did indeed conduct an exorcism to rid the boot of the troll-demon....They seem just as dumbfounded as me! So - for those who are experiencing the same issue - before getting to the point where you replace your convenience control module. Try plugging it back in again and seeing if that fixes it!! I'm just happy that I no longer have to deal with this:
  2. Thanks Mikey! Glad to know it isn't just me out there who has had this fault! When you say they replaced a control unit, can you remember what it was? Was it a different part to the convenience control module? Just incase the fault comes back I can at least get them to try this next if it worked for you! And it does get very wet here! The tropical weather means we get quite heavy storms frequently! They keep that bit off the tourism guides though haha
  3. So as an update.....The garage removed the convenience control module and sent it to their electrical specialist who said he couldn't see anything wrong with it and gave it the clean bill of health. The garage put the module back in and the the fault seems to have stopped.....The mechanic wanted to take the car home to see if the fault might re-appear and run some additional diagnostics.... I'll keep you posted when I get the car back tomorrow. Fingers crossed unplugging re-plugging solved it.
  4. Hi! I'm writing this from Sydney - not sure if there are many Sydney Skoda drivers here...if so g'day! :sun: My car - 2009 Octavia RS 2.0 TSI petrol- has developed an interesting and most annoying fault. It's already been into the Skoda garage 4 times and not yet been repaired. It would be so helpful to hear if anyone else has had this fault or can present another cause for it which I can ask the garage to investigate. The boot lid will open itself (release from the latch like if i were to press the handle/ press the remote) pretty much when it wants. My morning routine usually involves me having to close it around 5 times before it eventually stops and I can drive off...and even then sometimes it might pop open whilst i'm en route somewhere. The alarm has also gone off during the night on a couple of occasions - i thought this was related to the boot popping open but on the last occasion the boot was definitely shut. The Skoda garage have tried adjusting the boot lock, replaced the mechanism and most recently replaced the boot release handle/button but none of this has resolved it. Today they have told me their next idea is to replace the convenience control module...which didn't sound cheap (~$1000 / £500). Before the replace it though they said they would bring in the help of someone they work with for the incar computers to see if he might be able to repair my module / take a look but there was no guarantee he would find anything or if even a replacement module would fix the problem. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I searched through the site but couldn't see anything which matched my issue...only driverside doors or boots that wouldn't open. Could it be that my module has had some water damage and given that its just the boot lid/perhaps alarm it is repairable...or needs to be replaced? I'll continue to update the thread with how this unravels incase it's of help to someone else, but if anyone has any ideas...please help me!
