Hi been enjoying my 110 6 speed manual Fabia mk3 bought new for about 15 months. Twice recently the gearbox stuck in reverse and needed considerable force to get it in to neutral. The car goes in for 10,000 mile service in August, was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if a fault has been found

Hi have been enjoying my 6 speed manual 110 fabia mk3 for 15 months ( bought new) but recently I have had the gearbox stuck in reverse twice It took a lot of force to get it into neutral. The car goes in for a 10,000 mile service in August and wondered if anyone else has experienced this and possibly know of any fault.

Think you have answered your own question. When metal heats up and cools down it will expand and contract. Its the exhaust system you hear doing just that.

I agree with Offski. A rubber stamp costs a couple of quid and people take it at face value. Have personally known of books being falsely stamped up. A proper old fashioned invoice is by far better proof of work done.

Hi Ickshmael. Welcome. I bought a brand new Fabia in March 110ps with the six speed manual gearbox. All I i can say is I have never had any problems with gear engagement or any other problem with the gearbox, smooth and positive from day one. If this is bothering you then take it to your dealer and have a technician, NOT A SALES PERSON, try it out The dealership owes you this. Hope they will put your mind at ease and you enjoy your car.

It is a problem these days on low milage motors. Vehicle braking is better than its ever been thanks partly to new materials used for disks and pads but the payoff is durability. The longer pads and disks last the least efficient they would be. Like tyres, the better they grip the road the faster they wear out. You could partly have your cake and eat it but you would need the type of brake gear as fitted to hi performance vehicles with the associated cost.

Its for that reason that I would like to see ALL vehicles fitted with this, It may deter the tailgators. The Highway Code advises that a vehicle be driven so as to be able to stop safely under any conditions. O well I can dream.

Yes once. On examining dashcam footage it appeared to be a crushed drinks can that was blowing about in the road. Personally I would like to see all vehicles fitted with this to stop the idiot tailgaters. No I Don't have the heated nozzles But looks like they all have the delay. It adds a little excitement when a lorry on the motorway sprays you with filthy water lol

Always interesting to read Offski view on just about anything . Maybe I have been unlucky but in my years I have had people try to overcharge, Lie ,do unnecessary, work, con and trick. in many ways, sometimes for little financial gain often just out of laziness and the motor trade has not been an exception. Sorry if professionals on here have taken offence The fact that they take part in forums like this would indicate their genuine desire to maintain standards in their profession. Sadly many do not.

Same on my car a delay before water issues from the jets and then it is a very fine spray but with good quality screen wash does the job
