  1. Sorry lost the thread on this - I'm having trouble getting convenience closure to work on the sunroof (I.e. it won't do it!) even though I have reset it as per the manual. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  2. Maffyou - sunroof is brilliant, it works fabulously and does create a lot of light. My kids love it. However, it is a pain to keep clean, especially when birds leave their lovely deposits in it!
  3. Thanks Markhasta I love the Moon White (wasn't sure I would but this time being bold worked - especially as the sunroof breaks up the mass of white so much - as do the larger alloys). I also love the dark brown interior (I really wasn't sure about that one but it works great and will be much easier to keep clean than the ivory I had on my Range Rover Sport!) I even like the grey headlining (I specced beige but the dealer got it wrong). The grey is actually a better blend with the black tops of the doors. Mats - standard mats on the L&K are fine (bizarrely we got an extra set in the boot?) I have put the rubber (SuperSkoda) ones in as we do lots of work around steam traction engines (I own one) which means lots of mud, oil, grease and coal dust so the rubber ones are ideal. I still have to fit the mud flaps but may chicken out and ask a dealer to do it as not sure I have the skill to do it justice - I know it's meant to be easy but.....
  4. Picked this up last week. Now done 1000 miles and love it. I'll write a longer, first impressions piece, soon. Sorry about picture quality!

    My new L&K 280

Just a few quick shots - limited quality I'm afraid!
  6. Saw a beautiful moon white 280 L&K estate today with lots of extras....firstly outside my office window in Bristol, and then on my drive this evening! Picked the car up from Ridgeway at Greenham today and it's ace. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
  7. Sorry about the format but cut and paste... I've posted this somewhere else before but just for info I've added to my 280 L&K Estate which is due in a week or so......the following: - Moon white paint (£535.00) - Brown leather upholstery and beige headlining - 19" Phoenix anthracite wheels (£650.00) - 3 spoke multifunction steering wheel with DSG paddles (£95.00) - Ventilated front seats (425.00) - Rear backrest release from the boot (£90.00) - Panoramic sunroof (£1150.00) - Variable boot floor (£150.00) - Crew protection assist and rear side airbags (£435.00) - Bluetooth and phone box (£250.00) - Premium WLAN with integrated LTE internet (£350.00) - Media command (£85.00) - Smart gate (100.00) - Rear view parking camera (£300.00) - Smart light assist (£100.00) - Travel assist with traffic sign recognition and display (£85.00) - Heated windscreen washer nozzles (£50.00) - Integrated tow bar (£765.00) - 4 year extended warranty (£300.00) - Ensurance (£0.00) - Front passenger seat adjustment from the rear (£75.00) I have also ordered the following from Superskoda (about £100ish) ALUMINIUM PEDAL COVERS SMART HOLDER x2 ADAPTER x2 M/FLAPS FRONT AND REAR RUBBER FRONT MATS RUBBER REAR MATS TUNNEL RUBBER In short order I'll add: TRUNK GRILLE PROTECTIVE STRIP VARIABLE BOOT FLOOR MAT BAR RACK AND ROOFBOX
  8. Reading all of this is just making me jealous! I now have my order number for my car (Moon White 280 Combi with Anthracite 19s and Panoramic Roof with a host of, probably superfluous, extras). It is actually being built this week, but sadly I have to wait until early May for it due to delays.....I'm pretty patient about all that but sadly it will mean hiring a car for some aspects of my work (just left the Royal Navy (after 23 years) and off to be a consultant (probably for another 23) to pay of the mortgage!). Anyway keep it coming - this is a great site and had taught me a huge amount already. I really enjoy the variety of cars we discuss and how that variety works differently for so many people - from 1.4s to 280s, to combi or hatch, and from white to petrol blue fabulous - keep it coming! I hope to meet some of you in the future and view a few different cars.
  9. Although I'm no modern engineer I would go for the 220 simply for the torque. Although you may not notice it in everyday driving that torque is very useful for a whole bunch of reasons - towing, smoother progress, less gear changes etc. It also removes your worries about the 7 speed DSG. Others may of course disagree...
  10. Don't forget William Woollard - he was great. Ex RAF fighter pilot, oil industry, TV - Top Gear (until 1991), Tomorrow's World etc. Still going strong (goes to the gym every day!), still writing and producing for TV too. Amazing man.
  11. Traction engine - like a steam roller but with 4 wheels instead of rolls. Weighs about 10 tons and rockets along at a max speed of about 12-14 mph.....usually closer to 6-7mph though or your teeth fall out.
  12. I think that what dstev2000 says is what is reiterated in the handbook quotes I put above. Hopefully it will be included in my L&K...?!
  13. Corsa is my wife's car. It's better than nothing right now....it's sort of dirty, black, grey cloth with a light grey stripe in it. Like I said beggars can't be choosers. I was offered a much better deal for the RRS from Ridgeway Land Rover than Griffin Tax Free but they wanted the car immediately so I was left with no wheels until the Superb arrives in mid April....hopefully. Luckily I am currently on resettlement leave (have been since 4 Feb actually!) from the forces (RN) before I start my new job as a consultant in early April, so a lack of my own car isn't too bad - all I do is walk the dog, clean and tidy, make dinner and enjoy myself, while the wife is at work...she has her own photography business and is a photography lecturer at the local college too, so I have been enjoying doing not a lot for a while now....just realised that I've gone on a bit - must be bored!
  14. I know it's not a everyones favourite colour but I actually really like the idea of the brown. I've had black, almond, black and ivory premium leather (in that order) in my Discovery 3, Discovery 4 (x2) and a run out edition Range Rover Sport HSE Black. I liked them all but found the black leather got way too hot, showed every crumb and scuff, and was a bit dismal inside; the almond was ok but a bit 'sickly'; and the ivory was beautiful but a bugger to keep clean (I did clean it a lot but the leather still stained blue from jeans on the drivers and passengers seat edge despite my best efforts to keep it clean). We also own a steam traction engine which means we do tend to get a bit covered with coal and oil detritus - despite efforts not to drive the cars when dirty like that, sometimes it is a necessity! To cap it all, when I saw a moon white L&K 190 diesel in Ridgeway Skoda in Newbury with the brown ventilated leather, (and most of the other options I have chosen for my 280 petrol, including the panoramic roof) I fell for it. It's certainly a change and I may not like owning it, but at least it is different! It will also be a bit more resistant to the tough life I give it as a steam engine owner! I was still in time to change it (locked last week) but I've stuck with the brown...each to their own of course...
  15. Being wondering about this for a while as I've ordered the L&K estate. Brochure states 'includes retractable parcel shelf' with electrically operated boot or ’sliding parcel shelf' with virtual pedal. Doesn't seem very clear as the option remains for the estate (bottom of page 31 and costs a whopping £120) in the brochure, even for L&K spec....but then the brochures are renowned for being a bit confusing! Estate only Electrically operated boot. Enables the boot to open and close at the touch of a button; via the key, central panel or boot handle. The top position of the boot lid can also be adjusted to suit individual preference. Includes retractable parcel shelf. Virtual Pedal Enables touch-free boot opening via a motion sensor under the rear bumper. If the system identifies the authorised key and detects the 'kick' motion, the boot will open. Includes electrically operated boot functionality and sliding parcel shelf. Only available in combination with KESSY. Not available on GreenLine. So based on this I didn't order the optional retractable parcel shelf as if it goes to position B anyway that's good enough.
