  1. Another user of pingi here, I use this one: Also when close to home I turn the heaters off and when I arrive home I will leave the drivers door open for a minute or so to let cold air in to the car / hot air escape.
  2. What is the mileage of the car? and what is your typical commute like, type of road, speed traveled and distance?
  3. I think there was some sort of recall on PD engines but not the CR? Thinking back a while here..
  4. What did you use for the injector cleaning additive? Keep us updated on your journey
  5. I think people have had both the wiring and the injector fail so hard to say without diagnosing. My car still isn't 100% after a replacement.. just seeing how it goes.
  6. These are the tyres currently fitted: Passenger rear: Dunlop 205/55R16 SP SPORT FAST RESPONSE Passenger front: Event WL905 Drivers front: Event WL905 Drivers rear: Arrowspeed CP661
  7. I can also feel your pain Octamania and Devonchap, it's such an expensive job when one goes and it's the headache on top of that with getting a car to a garage and being without while it's repaired. I'm hoping for plain sailing from here and that I don't have to sell and buy something else due to very limited choices and insurance costs!
  8. Mine has been kind of OK lately, after the injector replacement it was ticking at around 2000 RPM which I was certain was an injector tick. I had read various things on line one saying that it will tick and needs a few hundred miles to bed in and learn the rest of the injectors? (Not sure if this is total rubbish). Anyway I ran the car for a bit and the tick didn't go, I then read about Millers Diesel Power Ecomax and spent ages googling and reading different car websites and reviews and a few people had said it had resolved their ticking problems I also read that it's no good for the high pressure CR engines however some people said it is OK so a real mixed bag of thoughts. I put one dose in a full tank and then topped up with Shell's V+ power diesel and ran the car, after about 50 miles the ticking had gone and still hasn't returned. I now only use Shell V+ Nitro Diesel fuel due to the higher octane and apparently my car being re-mapped I believe this is helping as the ticking could be unburnt fuel or something I also read. I've not used any more diesel cleaner in case it does cause damage but for now the tick has gone. Now my car is sporadically idling at 1,000 RPM, when the engine is or isn't up to temperature, no DPF light yet and I do give it a high speed 2,5000 RPM run once a week.. I will see how it goes. My 3 month dealer warranty is up but I've taken out the AA warranty with a £500 max single claim limit, that will cover another injector if one goes..
  9. Mine is nothing too major then by the sounds of it, it's not done it for a while and it is very intermittent it only happens on the motorway, normal around town driving is very quiet and the cabin is quiet on the motorway. It may well be Tyres as they are not all the same make or tread depth.. I've not had the car long I will monitor the situation and if it happens more I'll give the door seals a wipe down and look at replacing any dodgy tyres.
  10. No roof bars or racks fitted, sounds like it's coming from the front of the car and is louder in person. The video is only at 60 / 70 MPH.
  11. There's a whining noise that's happening intermittently normally if I go above 60 MPH it happens when driving myself or using the cruise control. It can come and you won't touch the pedals then it will go again and come back etc I can't find a way to make it do it everytime. It's a Skoda Octavia 2010 1.6 CR TDI. It sounds louder in person than the video has picked up. Any ideas? Video Link:
  12. The car came to them in an undriveable state as the injector had already failed so it was towed to their garage. It's only after they fitted this new injector that they noted on the invoice "rattling under load - maybe needs an oil change". I had the oil changed 500 miles before the injector but I replaced the oil again and it was the same noise so I took it back to them and they said it's because it's mapped and the best thing to try first was to take it back to stock. Is it OK to drive in this condition? If i keep it under 1,500 i cannot hear the ticking.
  13. In my mind it is definitely Injector related, it was not making any noises that it shouldn't before I took it to the garage they replaced the injector and now it is ticking. What he said kind of makes sense maybe a map was done wrong and this new injector is now off with the others or can't handle the new fuel flow or something? and taking it back to stock might fix that. I told them it wasn't ticking before and basically he said it came to them on a recovery truck which it did and they didn't drive it before putting the new injector in because it was un-driveable. The car drives normal it's just making a ticking noise. I've not driven another 1.6 Diesel but the car doesn't seem overly fast to me..
