  1. Mines also gone, in fact it never worked properly since i've had the car.. I dont know what boost is because it just goes psssssssssssss on acceleration leaking out like a mofo and pshi pshi pshi.....as it hits the turbo blades off throttle. Cant frikking wait to fit a new one 06A 145 710 N .... will be like having a new car. 1.8T 4x4 2002
  2. So the washer pump was pumping but the arm wouldn't move and only a spot or two of water came out the squirter so I took the mechanism apart, gears wee rusted and seized, found a small blue washer had worn and was the cause of the leaking.. omitted this and the 90 degree plastic fitting it goes into and connected the water supply pipe directly to the shaft so now no chance of water leaking into the mechanism.. cleaned the lot up and it all works like a charm. Only thing now is to re-fit the plastic bulkhead which is tricky as f***
  3. This should clarify some..diff to the rhs...Haldex to the left
  4. Thanks I'll look into that..I see its mentioned on other car forums...
  5. HOLY ****!!! thats a hell of a collection of muck, my wings are rusting so I suspect they must be pretty damn mucky too..should have already looked and cleaned mine... slacker! I watched a video on how to replace the pollen filter and followed it to check the filter and vacuum it out whilst I didnt have a replacement handy..at the same time I pulled a shopping bag of leaves and drain hole blocking decaying material out of the drain tray void. The plastic tray cover comprises two pieces, the fist longer one as in the vid came off fairly easily after initial probing, didnt want to break it. The second one has a windscreen wiper through it and I dont have a puller to remove the arm, so I managed to leave it in place, but could lift the edge and fit the vacuum nozzle under it into the drain tray void to get rid of leaves and muck. My drivers door footlight is also not working, neither is my rear wiper arm/motor, though most other electrics is. Airbag light is on as is engine /service light, my drivers window winder button works the opposite of the other 4 ie pull up to lower, is this normal? I've booked mine in for Tuesday for engine oil change, haldex oil change, possible rear brake disk and pads (calipers rusty as hell too) and there's a knocking front left, ARB or other suspension bush worn so would like to have poly bushes fitted...and my exhaust is rusty as f****...scared of that cost, though it could sound a bit noisier for my tastes, its very quiet. I had a mobile valet come round and clean the headlining, wet vacuum the carpets and seats, ran the car with heater on full for an hour in the rain, had to leave windows open a crack and tailgate open overnight but still a lot of condensation on the interior metal surfaces behind the lining, sun today helped a lot to dry it out and I think I've managed to get rid of the mould and smell.. that was 60 squid. I also want to refurb the wheel rims, they are ingrained with brake dust which cant be cleaned with just soap and water. Been reading up about VAG.com.. maybe a good OBD reader will help you with your electrical woes..
  6. May I ask where you bought the calipers? ...hold on, I see them on Mtec's site.. 54 odd pounds each.. ?
  7. Mine has been wet inside and mouldy and stinks...I've wiped it down and vacuumed it, then sprayed it with distilled vinegar left it to dry...then sprayed with anti bacterial and and wipe it down again, vinegar kills the Mould, not a lot else does...even bleach won't... Going to finish with a wet vacuum valet by a professional...
  8. ...wanted a vrs, but delayed a day and it got sold, so got an Elegance 1.8t instead with 103k miles and a smattering of rust but I'm happy, controls and computer just like the Polo 9n I had....pulls very well

  10. It does seem deliberate, balancing makes sense, thanks.
  11. Hi guys, I saw a clip on the radiator fan blade on my 02 Octavia 4x4, I presume I can take it off? Or is it there for balance or sensing lol?
  12. Mine also chimes, just got it but the chimes sound like door ajar, no seatbelt type chimes....so ignored
  13. FWIW considering this is an old thread, very old, I just fiddled with my cap motor as the cap was just sitting open with no pin to be seen, i thought it might be missing but on inspecting behind the rear trim on the hatch i found the motor and was just unscrewing it then it sprung into life, if the petrol flap button on the dash is pressed in (its a bell press type) it operates the motor to retract a pin, as soon as i let the button go again it returns the pin, ready for closing the flap and locking it in the process. I took the motor box out and split it thinking it may need some lube but it was pristine inside so just put it back. Happy now I can fill it up and sleep well...
  14. I just got a 4x4 Elegance with 103000 miles on it for £1250, it has a sunroof too though it also has rust behind the arches and mould inside and needs a serious valet & paint polish. I'm from South Africa so insurance is insane, more than the purchase price of the car at £1368.35 a year, cheapest quote by far, had some up to £3000 odd..
