  1. Thanks, this is good to know so I can check with the garage they are able to do that. Exactly the info I was looking for. 🙂
  2. I know from other threads that there are many problems with rear brakes. Ours made 100k km so I can't complain, even though they looked quite rusted for a long time. But things got suddenly much worse on vacation abroad. The metalic kind of noise is now heard all the time at low speeds and it's very loud. I don't want to risk a trip back (500km) with such brakes so I'm thinking to get the rear brakes replaced at an local garage (not official Skoda). There is one thing I'd like to know before getting this done. Is the replacement of rear brakes (discs and pads) still purely a mechanical job, or is there some computer setting/calibration involved? Yes I know this sounds a bit stupid, but with this cars with all kind of sensors and all this driver assistance things like ACC I'm not sure about it anymore.
  3. As already mentioned in another thread about water pump, our car had auxiliary coolant pump changed twice (not sure if it was the same both times). Beside that there was another related problem once, when it looked like the same problem but was just a relay at the end. All of that fixed under warranty. Our failed always after a longer drive on the German autobahn (4-8 hours), where the car was pushed quite a bit. Maybe coincidence, maybe not.
  4. Update: secondary water pump failed again. 🙁
  5. Is re-calibration required after changing the xenon bulbs and having smart/dynamic light assist?
  6. Also had this problem. Twice. First time the secondary water pump was replaced. The second time (some months after it was replaced and the same warning light came on and error code was the same they said) they took it out and tested it, and it was apparently ok, so they then traced the problem to the relay, which they replaced and no problem since then.
  7. This button was added for 2017 or 2018 models, not sure exactly of the year, but our 2016 model also doesn't have it.
  8. Thanks for the pics and also for the bolded hints, was struggling with opening it also after watching videos, but this really helped.
  9. Just a suggestion, when problems like this occur, always record them on your phone, it's much less of problem then when it works without a problem at the dealer.
  10. Had the same problem, sensor replaced under warranty.
  11. Used umbrella for the second time, it broke on opening, handle fell apart. Just wanted to add this as it looks like this umbrellas are really just for the marketing. Simply crap. Will try to get the replacement.
  12. I also had it replaced (engine light on). It was fine for 3 or 4 months, then right after a regular service again the engine light was on, and it looked from the diagnosis it's the pump again, but as it was strange to occur again they took some time to look at it and they found out the problem now was a relay. After they replaced it everything seems fine now for the last month.
  13. Ok, not sure how this is related to my original question, maybe I didn't formulate it clearly. I would like to a avoid a situation where the boot would open by unintentional long press of the middle (boot) button on the remote. I have it always in my jeans pocket. It's one thing that the car doors are unlocked unintentionally (and they will anyway soon lock again if no door is opened), but to get to the car after a day and that it waits for you with the open boot, in the rain, well, scary. I also have virtual pedal so really no use for this remote function, just a real possibility for some big problem. I'd also have no problem of disabling the boot button on the remote completely, if that would be possible via VCDS. If not possible to disable it using VCDS, do you think it can be disabled by a dealer?
  14. Is it possible to disable via VCDS the boot opening with long press on the key fob?
  15. Never had such problems with mine. When it happens next time, first thing to do is take your phone out and take a video of the problem. With all the actions you do trying to get the wipers working. Then the dealership will have a proof and will be easier for them to talk to Skoda about the possible solutions. Or if maybe there is some weird explanation they might tell you what the trick is to get them going again.
  16. Sorry for not answering your question, but I would suggest if you really want to be sure then it's better to ask this the manufacturer or official seller than asking it here. I'd expect that any decent manufacturer/seller would be glad to answer.
  17. Had sensor replaced last week, was always on since a month. Have been using RainX washer fluid concentrate.
  18. I had an interesting problem. Took out a 64GB microsd card from my android phone, to be used in the car (MY2016 Superb) with amundsen unit. Previously I had a 32GB card in it, but it was getting a bit small. So formatted the 64GB card with NTFS, put it in the car, and got SD card error message. Tried with formatting it to FAT32 (with some third party tool on windows) and also exFat (built in windows disk management tool) and same error. Then I deleted the partition, and created a new one, half the size, 32GB, and formatted to 32GB. Kind of expected the error again, but this actually worked. So I again deleted the partition and created full one, 64GB, again formatted as NTFS, and this works now. So I guess the partition type that was created by android phone was not compatible with the amundsen unit. It was possible to format it, and use it in windows computer without any problem, but there was something that caused problems with the amundsen. Bottom line, if you get problems with a microsd card not working in the amundsen (possibly also other units), then try to not only format the card, but first to delete and recreate the partition, and then format it.
  19. Just an update, it happened again, could not open the passenger window for some 15 minutes, then it suddenly started to work. This doesn't look like just a software problem. Will book it in again.
  20. Also had some similar experiences. In my case it happened when in stationery traffic, and left some more space before moved on, in one case also someone jumped into that space, but was then stationary there, then when I touched the gas pedal to move on, it would start accelerate to the set speed (30kmph) and I had to jump on the brakes not to hit the car in front. First time it was so close I also got the collision warning. In regular driving never had any problems.
  21. Our Superb has sporadic problems with the passenger side window mechanism. Once it happened that I couldn't get it down, no matter if using the passenger door switch or the driver side (so I guess then it's not the switch problem). Then after a few minutes it got down, but then couldn't get it up anymore. Restart of the car didn't help. After half an hour drive it suddenly started to work. Had it fixed, was told that the software was the cause, they updated it. No idea what sw. After that it happened two or three times that it was only possible to operate the window manually, I mean the automatic up/down function, if you fully press/pull the switch, was not working. Always resolved by itself during the drive. Really weird, will report it again at the next service, but would just like to know if someone else is experiencing similar problems.
  22. I have 150tdi dsg with ACC (210 km/h). My first automatic. I have quite regular long trips through the Austria and Germany. I'm really positively surprised how usefull are both dsg and acc. Would be difficult to go back now. Another great option for my usage (a lot of night driving) is dynamic (smart) light assist. This in combination with dsg and acc means I'm now much fresher at the end of the long drive.
  23. Thanks for all the ideas. I just wish the cup holder would fully encircle the can, then it would be no problem also for energy drinks to stay in there. Like in my previous cars, never had a problem with that, that's why I was quite surprised that my new car has such a bad cup holder design. But if this will be my only problem with the car I will happily live with that
