I wonder if I just take it down from the roof to have a look? Strange for it to break though as in the 6 years of having the car its hardly ever been touched!

Hi all, Car is a MK2 Superb and having issues with the interior lights. All lights can be turned on individually, footwell lights are working and also the little lights which illuminate the gear stick work. HOWEVER...when I unlock the car only the footwell lights will switch on, open the door and again the lights won't switch on. Switch the on and off switch nothing happens but press each individual map light and they work fine. Any ideas on what this is? I head maybe the convenience module but everything else is working - puddle lights as well as the follow me home lights when unlocking and also taking the key out the ignition.
