Hey mate, I've got the 2016 1.4l (92TSI) down here in Melbourne. And you're right, the Yeti isn't too well known in this country. Well, the Skoda brand itself isn't too well known in Australia. Though I do see 5'ish Yeti on the road per week. There's an Aussie Skoda group on Facebook with a few Yeti owners in there if you're interested.

Yeah, that's true. Several Skoda dealerships have disappeared in Melb/Sydney. Some replaced in the area by another group, some not. In Melbourne I know that the Zagame group no longer does Skoda Richmond. From what I've read Essendon Skoda took over. And in Sydney Thomson Skoda replaced Trivett Skoda.

I think it's a leftover mindset from the days when the V6/V8 models dominated the family sedan market here. Of course, that has been changing over time.

They are now available in Australia as a 4x4 model. But weren't available when I brought mine. The 1.4 110kw 4x4 model replaced the 1.4 92kw 2wd model in the local range. i believe the 92kw was also sold in various European countries but never in the U.K. Also, in Australia the only Yeti that had a manual option was the cheapest/entry level 1.2l model, everything else being DSG.

I think that's a rare engine around here (1.4l/92kw), but it's one that I share here in Australia in a MY16 Yeti. Most of the 1.4l engines here are of the 110kw variety I believe. I've had my Yeti for about 10 months now and done 10,000km with no issues. What sort of issues have you been reading about?

I've found restarting the car radio helps when this happens. You can do this by pressing and holding the power button until it shows the Skoda logo (about 20 seconds).

I'm still quite new to the Yeti (and Skoda), having just brought mine back in March. Have done just over 7000km in my 1.4l TSI (averaging 7.3l/100km). The Yeti continues to surprise (in good ways). And I couldn't be happier thus far. I think if you keep an eye on enough product forums (not just cars), you'll always see people post about the problems they have with that product. It's normal. I've been active in various photography, isp, tech etc forums for years and observe the same pattern. There's the core group of enthusiasts, a small handful of trolls, and then you have those irregular ones that only post about problems they're having or for advice.

So it's a EA 211 variant. Beyond that, I don't know anything about it. It is a 2wd DSG model.

There's no ECO mode on my petrol DSG Yeti, but yes, it's automatically activated when you take your foot off the accelator. You can turn it off via the maxidot. From what I gather, it's a relatively new feature on petrol Yeti models. Possibly from MY16 and onwards.

That reminds me, when I went to test drive the Yeti, it was a MY15, which did not have coasting. My MY16 does though, so I think it's a recent change.

Possibly, I'm not sure. I know my model was never sold in the U.K., but was on sale elsewhere in the EU. Skoda sales (and Yeti more so) are quite low in this country (compared with other manufacturers here and compared to Skoda/Yeti sales over there so we are probably just getting things sold in Europe with little to no modifications made. In fact, when I picked up the car was given a seperate owners manual supplement that has things to note for Australia that aren't mentioned in the main one. The 1.4TSI sold in the U.K. has more HP than mine. However, I'm aware that my 1.4 is no longer sold locally. They've replaced it with a 4x4 1.4 TSI with the same kW and HP rating as the one sold in the U.K.

I've got the 12 in my Yeti, quite like it but never tried the Yeti with 8 so can't compare! It was added as part of the "tech pack" (in Australia), so it was an all (of the pack) or nothing for me. From the brochure, the tech pack gave me: - bi xenon headlights and LED day time running lights - 12 speakers - auto parking assist - SmartLink - DAB+ - rear LED lights All that for an extra $2100AUD (at the time). My main wants at the time from that tech pack were the bi xenon headlights/led running lights, DAB+ and SmartLink. To me, everything else (12 speakers, auto parking assist and read led lights) were an added bonus!

Not true for all TSI petrol engines. I've got a 1.4l 92kw TSI petrol engine and I've got coasting.

You're right, it's available over here in Australia (it's labelled as the Yeti 1.4l 110 TSI 4x4). We also used to have the 2wd 1.4l 92 TSI. Both of which only come in DSG configurations. If you wanted a manual in this country, it's only available with the 1.2l engine. From poking around at various European Skoda sites, it's also available in some European countries. So the real issue is that the Skoda importer in your country decided that not many would buy that configuration, so they don't import it for sale into your country.

I've got it enabled on my 1.4l petrol Yeti and quite like it. I've altered my driving slightly to take advantage of coasting mode and these days I don't really notice that I'm in coasting mode. It makes the most difference when I'm driving longer distances and out of the city/suburbia.

Yep, same experience as me. I think I've filled in about 3 of them since I received the Yeti.

It can also hold a wine bottle!

My 2016 1.4l 92 kW (123 bhp I think) TSI is currently averaging 7.6l/100 after 4500km. Which I think is 37.2 UK mpg. Think my best effort was when I was out of town in country Victoria doing a long drive, got 6.9l/100 during that trip (40.9mpg). This is suburban driving so speeds are generally between 50-80km/h (30-50mph), except during heavy peak hour (where it's mostly 20-40km/h with a few minutes of 40-70km/h on the motorway).

Looks like the 92 TSI (1.4L) that I own is now gone from the Aussie site. Just the 81 TSI (1.2L) remains. I also noticed that the model configurator now allows you to configure a 4x4 Outdoor model, which is a 1.4L. I assume this is similar to the 1.4 L&K available in the UK. Also of note, it's a 6 speed DSG rather than a 7 that was on the previous 1.4 TSI.

I brought mine with the 12 speakers (was included as part of the "tech pack" option as they call it in Australia). I just wanted the DAB+ and Bi-Xenon headlights, but it came with the upgraded speaker system. And to be honest, I'm glad that I have it. Listening to music in my Yeti is quite an enjoyable part of the journey!

Since you have an iPhone, download the Here maps app. They are the map provider used by Skoda for the Yeti. Obviously the UI is different but the maps are still using similar data. Others have already talked about the traffic so I won't go into that. But I would say you folks are lucky, we have the button on our cars but it does nothing as it hasn't been enabled in Australis due to (from what I hear) VW/Skoda Australia don't want to pay the fees for it. If you get SmartLink with an iPhone connected, it actually works quite well too!

It's interesting you mention that. Due to dieselgate, the Yeti TDI models were withdrawn from the Australian market. We now only have the 1.2 (in manual and DSG) and 1.4 DSG. All 2WD.

I'm surprised you folks in the UK don't get the 1.4l 2wd. We've got it over here in Australia. I've had mine for about 3 months now and quite enjoy it. Averaging about 7.5l/100km at the moment.
