  1. I am genuinely stunned that a brand new performance model with a big engine costing what, 40,000 Euros, doesn't come with an alarm. The last car I bought without an alarm was a Seat Ibiza in 1998.... Crazy spec differences. Nav too, that's crackers.
  2. ^ I have two the same age as yours. My wife was idly discussing what we would do if another came along - the answer was 'Buy a Kodiaq' Sorry, no help whatsoever. I know you can now get Isofix bases for the baby (Group 0) carriers that also accept larger seats from the same range, which would give a bit of flexibility. The correct answer is drive to the big retailers and try them out with the existing small people in place. They may need bribing with snacks or iPads though, mine would...
  3. Might be worth raising with the dealer and checking wheels/tyres/basic suspension components - my 190 DSG L&K (admittedly hatch) feels rock solid and utterly confidence-inspiring. I've had a selection of comparable cars and it definitely doesn't feel fidgety at all.Edit: also mine is the 4x4, so that's likely to make a difference. Possibly.
  4. Have you driven the Octavia VRS? Much closer to the Golf (but about 3 grand cheaper like for like). The Superb is a different category of car. I love mine and most certainly wouldn't swap it for a Golf estate
  5. That backs up my findings - it's basic mechanics really. Nearer the hinge will require less force to crush/chop than at the other end so whatever force they are calibrated to stop on won't trigger. Think of how easy it is to cut with scissors at the base of the blades compared to the tip. Or getting your fingers stuck in the hinge side of your house door compared to the lock side.
  6. I have it, find it great. If just for the fact you don't have to have the blowers set to 'ultra death kill max upwards' when it gets a bit condensationy.
  7. It's in the menu in between 'Disable all airbags' and 'Disable ABS'... Well, no obviously Asking for some sign of life every 15 seconds or so isn't unreasonable IMHO - it is not autopilot as above, it's to assist when you're actively driving the car.
  8. Morning all, Just a slightly random heads up for our UK members - if you're looking for large storage that fits in the S3 boot, Homebase are currently selling some 145 litre rolling trunks for £14.68 each - two of them fit *perfectly* in the saloon boot without rolling around or bashing together, just like this: They seem pretty decent and are well reviewed. Would be good for Christmas pressies, winter gear, mucky boots etc. Link is here: http://www.homebase.co.uk/en/homebaseuk/extra-large-storage-trunk---145l-275157
  9. It's simply an amendment to the table that translates pedal position into throttle input. Instead of, for example, 10 degrees of pedal travel resulting in 10% throttle, it overwrites that to say '10 degrees of pedal travel results in 30% throttle being applied' Numbers are made up by the way
  10. I'm not sure that's true - in the absence of a DSG box the clunking could well be a suspension component...or wheel bearing...or undertray... or brake heat shield etc etc. Definitely worth looking at. For the OP I would either get it booked in at the dealer, take them for a ride to demo it, or have a quick look yourself. Jack/axle stand that corner and give the wheel a hefty wiggle to see if you get any clunks.
  11. The issue that you posted a video of is entitled 'DSG phenomenon'. All linked videos, text and comms from Skoda show the phenomenon (or issue, feature, characteristic, thingy...) as affecting DSG cars only. Given that the clunks you demonstrate are a feature of the DSG box, the OP isn't likely to have the same issue, unless someone swapped his gearbox out without him noticing For what it's worth I don't have the same phenomenon, and I have DSG.
  12. Previously A4 estate but prior to that a selection including the other premium marques. The Superb isn't a poor relation in any company. It's an incredible all rounder in my eyes and the 'premium-but-modest' image suits me down to the ground. Looks sharp and unfussy next to some of its contemporary peers. Very happy with it.
  13. All they have to do is ask around Superb owners in Latvia and they'll get a very long list of things to address.
  14. Kind of. Possibly. If they are strictly following USB 1.0 / 2.0 specs, they will either be a max of 500mA or 1500mA depending on whether Skoda have deemed them standard downstream or charging downstream. 3.0 is higher and 3.1 (I think) higher still.Power supplies can be greater as they are 'charge only' ports, which is why an iPad charger is 2.1A The port won't be 'useless' for charging phones; it may not charge as quick as a wallwart charger, but it will still charge your phone just fine.
  15. Have them, they're pretty good really. No flaming use for me as the only ones who use the rear are the little sods darlings and their legs are pretty short...
  16. I doubt any of the aftermarket wood trim manufacturers will have made a pattern for the new Superb yet, so your options are: 1. Contact them, see if they want to use yours to develop their patterns. You may be able to get it free/cheap that way! 2. Use vinyl self adhesive film. It's better quality now and is removable if you don't like it or want to sell it later. Something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3M-DI-NOC-364GN-WG364GN-WOOD-GRAIN-GLOSS-VINYL-FILM-SELF-ADHESIVE-60cm-x-100cm-/141761313082
  17. 1. The inbuilt nav is perfectly decent. Use google maps through android auto if you must. The directions are mirrored on the MFD in the cluster which is a much better place than a phone on your dash. 2. You would have doubts that the sky was blue.
  18. I find the ride on 19s with DCC perfectly fine to be honest. Even my wife who normally finds something to pick holes in has no issues. Have you test driven one with DCC on 19s? Is there an L&K Demo near you?
  19. No - it's a film/foil type rather than a thin wire type (like Ford etc). Not visible from the inside.
  20. I definitely wouldn't have picked the 190 if buying new, it would have been the 150. As it happens I got an ex demo 190 4x4 DSG L&K for little more than the SE-L 150 I was close to ordering so it was a no-brainer for me. I find the 190 pretty decent - and in the right place in sport mode it pulls pretty well - but the 150 I test drive felt okay too. Definitely a difference though - I drove them back to back.
