  1. Just after my week of driving and he flung it open about 30% of the time.
  2. Hi, I have an 8 year old who has never needed the child locks as he waits for the doors to be opened. The biggest problem I have is when he is getting in, he just flings it open. Getting out is not as bad. He is just unbelievable.
  3. Have thought about the door locks alright, and I guess it may have to come to that.
  4. The Shannon is not looking inviting right now. Might have to leave early.
  5. Hi, Problem:- I travel to work with 3 other people, one of whom flings my rear door open until it hits the limit stop. Despite repeated nice and not so nice requests to not do it, it still happens. I can see that the door line is now out and I am beginning to hear a slight whistle from the door. I am pretty pi88ed off with this. Throwing him out of the car pool or leaving it myself is not the easiest option as there is an expensive car ferry trip to be taken each day. Also, he is one of the managers where I work so there is potential knock on to consider there too. As a manager he is great, as a car-pooler, he sucks!!! He even treats his own car badly. Q:- Is it possible to limit the amount the door opens thereby reducing the force on the door? Q:- Can the door travel be "tightened" to slow the opening speed down? I'm clutching at straws here. The irony is that he is an engineer who grew up in a garage. He is devoid of all forms of mechanical sympathy.......... All help appreciated and Marry Christmas to all. A..... Superb II.
  6. Hi, Thanks for the advice so far. I was with the tyre fitter when the tyres were fitted and the wheel was not dropped. It is a water bubble and not silicone. Anthony.....
  7. Hi, I have a 170bhp Superb II, and in the last week I noticed the driver side rear tyre losing air. I just topped it up every few days until I got a chance to look at it. I took it off last night to check for a nail/cut and discovered that the inside of the wheel is cracked where the tyre bead meets the rim. There is no indication of impact damage at the point of the crack so I am unsure what has caused it. I changed the tyres about 6 weeks ago and did not have an air loss problem until the last 7-10 days. I do drive some terrible roads so I guess that doesnt help. I contacted my delaer and he will arrange a new wheel and try to get a warranty claim on it. Would have my doubts on the success of that, but at least he is willing to try. I have attached a few photos. Anthony.....
  8. I eventually purchased Uniroyal Rainsport II tyres and have used several sets since. Have been very happy with their grip but they wear put quickly. A friend has put Goodyear Asymetrics on his vRS and I will follow his progress with them as I would like to try them at some stage.
  9. Hi, I had a look at the recommended thread and applied the fix. Have tried the "hatch" opening mechanism several times since with success. Hopefully, that has sorted the problem. If I have trouble again, i will post here. Thanks for the help......
  10. Hi My problem is with the saloon twin boot mechanism. Must have a look at the tread mentioned by SamsterXX and see if that helps me. It has failed once more today.
  11. Hi I have the same problem. Very intermittent as the boot may work fine for a few days and them act up. I've had the boot lid reset by my dealer as well. It has failed to work twice today and once yesterday. Must take the car back to them in the coming weeks to see what can be done. It is not encouraging to hear that a motor change did not help the problem.
  12. Hi, Happy New Year to all. I have a Superb 170 elegance and I find that the leather steering wheel has become smooth and shiny. I am gripping it hard as I feel it slips in my hands especially if it is warm. I have never treated the wheel or used any cleaners on it other then a dry cloth. What can I do to improve the grip without damaging the leather? Thanks. Anthony.....
  13. Hi, I had a tow bar on my previous Superb II and it caused untold problems with one of the reversing sensors, hence I did not get one on this car. How easily fitted and removed are roof racks? I would only need to transport a bike now and again. The weather here is so bad now that I will be doing well if I get out at all :'( Thanks, Anthony.....
  14. Hi, Sorry for not getting back to this thread sooner. Many years ago I had Michelins on a VW as the OEM tyre. Could not trust them in the wet at all. In fact I hated driving in the wet which in Ireland meant I was fearful every day. I am sure that things have improved a lot since and that my michelin phobia should be put to bed. They lasted for ever though. What about Uniroyal Rain Sport II tyres? I have read good reviews and the price is attractive. Thanks Anthony......
